Sullivan set to sell 25% of West Ham and it can only mean big news for The London Stadium ownership 

As a South American supporter, I've got to say that my first time to the London stadium was actually incredible. I don't think the locals understand how much an Olympic stadium affects the psyche of the visiting opposition. Think about the estadio Azteca, or Maracana, or River Plate's estadio Monumental. I honestly think we need to do all that's posible to keep the stadium, but have full ownership so we can convert it to its greatest extent. Look at how happy Paqueta and Alvarez are playing there, it's their dream to be playing in huge Olympics stadiums.

The problem is we sold Upton park for 38 million, the same price we paid for Felipe Anderson. Mugs deal!

We've been filling a 62,000 + stadium. I don't really think or want a Home Ground that is smaller than want we have become accustomed to ! We bit the bullet and moved, now we should have the pay off ! A home stadium with a smaller footprint but larger capacity ! 62, 64, 66,000 mad cockneys close to the pitch, screaming down your throats ! Ecstasy for us ! Bad news for our opponents !

Think the stadium should be 60,000 plus given that there is a waiting list for season tickets, so it would be unfair for the haves (current season ticket holders), to deny others to have the same opportunity.

The TFL Bus Garage at West Ham is about to be sold to pay off some of TFL debt. Stagecoach have just taken over a Bus Company with Garage in Leyton and will then relocate Buses. West Ham Garage is a massive site, more than enough for 60,000 Stadium.

First off, sorry to hear about your two dogs gonzo :( there are as big of part any family as any relative in my view, and will be a big big miss for you and your family. The way this is playing with this game of 'chess' about the stadium I can honestly only see a positive out come for WHUFC with all the options you mentioned, 55-60k stadium similar to Upton Park would be absolutely terrifying for any team coming to us! I honestly hope it comes sooner rather than later.

Very interesting regarding the stadium,I would think the vast majority of fans would be in favour of a move out further east if its a proper football stadium and close to the pitch. Sadly as time passes I would imagine the % of west ham fans who live or indeed lived in east london is dropping massively,and essex is where most of the fanbase are from anyway

A potential change of Government and London Mayor the stadium losses will be a major issue and an ideal time to change ownership. With the known costs to repair and ongoing refurbishment, I could see a minimal sale cost, not the millions it would be expected to achieve under normal circumstances. There would possibly be clause’s attached to the sale, but I wouldn’t expect that to be an issue for the new shareholder.

I would prefer we move to a temporary location and rebuild a better stadium in the stratford area. If we rebuild we have to make sure the seats are as close to the pitch as possiible and as steep as possible for better atmosphere

Living half way across the world, I've not been to the LS yet. It looks cool on the toob, but there's no question the atmosphere sometimes sounds stunted. Nonetheless, I'd prefer a for football purpose stadium for the club and fans. I don't see why we'd have to settle for 55,000 capacity though. Annually we've been second behind Man Utd in overall attendance figures in the premier league, and we've consistently been first in percentage of seats filled per season. There's no reason to shut the tourists out f the equation in a new ground. If the club did that then I'd never be able to get a ticket if and when I return to London again. I've been supporting since 1973 but moved away from the UK overseas in '76. I've only been back to England once, in 2015/16, to make a pilgrimage to see Upton Park one last time. Anyhow, there's no reason we can't have a 65,000 seater where every seat in the ground is excellent, where the tourists get cordoned off into a section and where the season ticket holders can band together to make a racket. Bring back a standing area. Wasn't that something that was supposed to be trialed in the last few years?

Even though I live in essex I’d be gutted to see us leave east London. I really hope that’s not what’s going to happen. Fingers crossed they just redevelop the London stadium.

The thing is gonzo as its a government owned asset it has to go to tender so there would be competition and if our bid isnt high enough then we stay as tenants or on our bikes!

Why wouldn't West Ham need a c.60,000 seater stadium? We have 54,000 season ticket holders with c.20,000 supposedly on the waiting list. We regularly fill a 62,000 seater stadium. I don't understand your logic Gonzo?

East London club but not Essex …The borough of West Ham was originally in Essex . So where in East London , the price of land is outrageous . So what’s the solution … if we have to move ? Somewhere between Romford and Ilford .. the council would love the revenue West Ham generate . But if we stay at the LS the stadium needs a rebuild .It was and is an awful move .

The one certainty we can deal with is that we will be dealing with the same administration in London for the forseable future - because the current administration has three unbreakable block votes that we will not see change in a generation. In fact, the only way the administration will change is if he decides not to run again and return to parliament, and whomever follows him will have to appeal to the same block votes - so that will not change. So the only thing we have to deal with here is the amount . If the business environment shifts due to the lack of ability to fill venues in a monetary squeeze, then the value of the asset falls. And we become the only buyer yet again. But the fixed costs remain, and will only increase, and the difference between the two is already widening.

UK Athletics are going to bid for the 2029 World Athletics Championship. Its quite likely they want to build a dedicated arena for this event. The sale of the LS will facilitate this. Or they could just hold it in the LS but it may well cost more money to do so...

We have 50000 waiting on the list and get 60000 most weeks and with decent pricing and a good team playing good football I’m sure it would be near on full every home game. How about the investor buys a plot of land and builds a purpose built 60k stadium with his own funds, not the clubs and has a 100 year lease to WHU or HP where at the end of it we own it, that would be a great way to bypas a load of rules and regs, plus get us what we need for now and the future

This was always the plan, I argued it from the beginning this was a redevelopment plan for Sullivan and others were enthused by the opportunity. Time and again some argued over the years that couldn’t not happen blah, blah, blah but seriously what other end game wa# there in reality? The only mis calculation by Sullivan if there is one is the fact the last is deal he prized is going to cost him a lot more than he hoped, he almost certainly hoped the Stadium would be losing less ( ua a sponsor for example and more events) and the related cost to acquire it a lot lower once the Govt/Mayor got sick of the losses even if far less than in reality and as such likely a lot less visible backlash. The runes haven’t quite fallen right however and thus the higher cost means this need for further investment. Again I argued Sullivan would never be able to finance it and thus others would need to be brought in. Sullivan’s true motives will now gradually become clearer, after all Brady’s expertise has always been squeezing as much as possible from a business while playing the waiting game, this is the ultimate example of it, she is all about preserving value for ultimate sale as the Philip Green Empire displayed, let’s hope the Club’s future works out better than that did but I fear a large stadium out in the wilds is likely our best hope now if the club has more value to our new Masters than Wimbledon did to theirs, after all like them we have always been a means to an end and where would we play for about 6 years while a new stadium was built on our site, esp when that would be a hit to developers ultimate profits in the re development. Yup all is becoming clearer on this decade plus plan by the owners.

The bit I dont get is If we dont buy the stadium, surely they cant sell to anyone else as we signed a 99 year lease? (Bumbling Boris giving us the deal of the century but not such a great deal now for the mayors office or the taxpayer but whats done is done!)

Why on earth would we want to buy a huge loss-making white elephant when we've got a sweetheart deal as tenant Gonzo? There is no likelihood that the government would let the entire site go as that would be worth billions to developers. What use is just a decaying stadium that is not fit for purpose? I suppose Arab money would be needed to flatten it and start again, but is that likely? By the way, so sorry to hear about Baggins mate. My younger son has recently got a rescued Jack Russell and he's already devoted to it.
