It's kinda amazing that a true artist (or two) can inject their own soul(s) into a classic and somehow make it even more special. This is so special. And this reaction captured that - Thanks!
Josh Turner, Reina Del Cid, Carson McKee and his brother Skylar, Toni Lindgren, Allison Young and Mary Spender, these kids really have something going. They do covers and their own music. Jim Croce, Paul Simon, Dolly Parton, Hoagy Carmichael, Neil Young, Springsteen, Dylan, ELO, Dusty Springfield, Patsy Cline, Vera Lynn and the list goes on, in different combinations, with Postmodern Jukebox and other talented friends. They really are all over the board. You should listen to more of Josh Turner guitar, if for no other reason all other talent that he bring along! Or just have fun ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hXR9W53dvXw.html this one is just such a smile.
@@daxmusix it just never stops with this guy. Besides the releases on his channel, if you occasionally search "josh turner guitar," there's regularly gold that he's involved with on other channels as well. Dude literally has the Midas touch.
I've enjoyed pretty much every collaboration that any old those artists you mentioned. Be it an original or a cover, they represent a marvelous generation of talented young artists
"When The Time Bell Rings" Up to about 20 years ago all pubs in England (UK?) had fixed opening hours. Just before "closing time" the pub would ring a bell to alert people to order their last drinks. The other expression "The Towels On" was when closing time came the barman/maid would place a towel over the beer pumps to show that no more drinks would be served - especially if the police popped into the pub.
Just fantastic! Josh nailed the quadruplicate riff at the end of the second solo, which is super hard to duplicate! I've seen a lot of Josh's vids and never realized his left-hand little finger is incredibly long!! It's almost like he grafted another knuckle onto it!! If Mary turns your proposal down, I got dibs on seconds!! 😁
The greatest thing about Josh and all of his collaborators is that they play so well together, even though they are all more than talented enough to make it all about them. They are a case study in the whole being more than the some of the parts.
I agree completely! I was blown away when I stumbled upon this video. I keep coming around again for another listen :) (and it holds up so well!). Just yesterday I found another video with Mary and Josh called "Brandi Carlile - I Belong To You [Cover by Mary Spender and Josh Turner]". Highly recommend this one too!
I like all of Josh's and Mary's collaborations. On Josh's channel you never know what you're going to get. Jazz, rock, pop, funk, the blues or classical. The one thing that's always clear. With all his friends they seem to always have fun. Mary seems to be a person and a people. A person is somebody that has some notoriety. She has interviewed and made videos with a bunch of people. A people is somebody that you might meet in a line in a store and have a brief pleasant conversation and it's genuine. Then she plays and sings, and oh that voice. Like taking a bite from a crisp juicy apple. You know the type. You can't make up your mind if it's tart or sweet but you love it.
Great one Dax. I'm subbed to her too but haven't seen anything for a long time. Glad I didn't miss this one. That was well done. Knopfler is someone you just can't beat.
This has been in my top 5 since it came out in the early eighties! Played that record to death. It has certainly passed the test of time. Guitar and base work beyond reproach. However I much prefer the application of his voice to the song. Thanks for that blast from the past. I know there are 7 million versions by Columbian street guitarists on RU-vid, but these two can really play.
i never thot i'd hear ANYBODY (or two, lol) who could do this song justice...until now. one of my all time fav's from the 80's....very smooth, understated as you've pointed out, without becoming a caricature of the master...and chemistry was indeed displayed between them, wow. talent plus. and yes, her voice...so, do we hear wedding bells in the near future? 😁
@@daxmusix oh and one thing i forgot to say, paul hoffmaster showed me this before your reaction and i almost didn't watch it because i was all like, "Yeah, riiiiight, somebody's even gonna' even TRY to do this, uh-huh, yeah, suuure they are"...glad now that i did watch it, they mite even get a like from ol' Mark Knopfler himself. this was a flawless performance!. they had the mood DOWN...
This was Great!!, love the young lady's voice she has many ranges!!, You are correct her voice takes the song on another level, the guy has a nice voice also!, Didn't necessarily care much for his playing he missed a few there, but still very good, the girls Voice was Great on this song!!.
Your proposal will be placed at the end of a long, long, long line of similar proposals, all of them doomed, I'm sure, but nevertheless entirely understandable. I will feel your pain. 😋
