This album is something else honestly. Speak of the Devil, this one, and Walking Disaster in particular just make me want to cry; the lyrics, the delivery, everything is just amazing.
Its for me one of the albums highlights for sure. Dunno what tom was doing with one of those melodies at the end though. Sounded like he didnt know the words, odd. I thinks its the best song on the album to me. It reminds me of the three vocal melody parts in handle this, no brains and noots. Funny those rank in my top 10 sum songs too haha. Maybe deryck knows something i dont 😂
It's a shame they dismissed most of the songs off this album as filler. It seems the songs they never played live were the best (Speak of the Devil, Pull the Curtain, Count Your Last Blessings, and the bonus tracks)
thats what every song does in a a sense it provided a transition so that the album was not a collection of songs the album was a song. Like a song is an emotion the album is an event what sum 41 did with underclass was write a symphony for whole year of ups and downs(mostly downs) but did something so freaking underrated. it is still amazing.
i think pull the curtain would sound good on acoustic. i just love the softness of deryck's voice along with the aggressive one. itd be awesome if he did an acoustic version of this song
kakashisen123 its to save the vocalists voice. Pretty much every band will play there songs in a lower key live so they vocalists doesn't need to strain his voice as much so he can sing for longer during a tour.

I'm QUITE late to the party, but I'm guessing it's because Derek Whibley harmonizes with himself quite often on their albums. If you start the album version of this song at 2:43, you can tell all 3 voices are Derek's. In this video, at 2:55 he is supposed to harmonize with himself, and at 3:02, a THIRD Derek is supposed to start harmonizing with the other 2 Dereks. That's why this live version sounds so different from the album. The other guitarist tries to fill in on vocals at the end, but it just doesn't do the song justice. They would either need to have pre-recorded audio of Derek's vocals (which just wouldn't be fun for a live show) or they would have to have two of the other members step up and sing a triple harmony, which they don't really do.
@@Vakari yeah agree with you there, although with dave back i feel they now can pull off this harmony. Too bad this is the best song on underclass and has some of the best harmonized vocals of any sum 41 song. Wish we could vote on some songs for them to play!
@PatriotOfMyLand Underclass hero was written completely without the new guitarist, and for your information, the new guitarist was in the band called Gob, who plays hardcore punk, similar to Chuck and DTLI. Check them out
Saw these guys live at sonisphere, Had the second best time of the whole weekend at these guys and that's saying something, as they had like a 30 min set, for me they beat every band at the festival including slipknot, slayer and the likes. only metallica could top them :P LOVE SUM 41
@Cowfister I'm not too sure, in this video and many of the other live oesfrom this day, he just keeps time by 'bouncing' his left foot on the hi hat pedal. However I know he did/does own a double bass pedal, which if I remember correctly was a DW9002. He wouldn't have used one in this song anyway, the bass drum part is too simple for that. :) Hope I helped..

@itnt445 The guitar of tom is exactly, and the voice too. It's clear that stevo isn't doing playback, and cone either... but I repeat, I am a sum 41 fan, but I think there's a little bit of playback in this song... But sum 41 rock xD
tom isnt a permanent member of the band, but because of the way they record the guitar for their songs they need a second guitarist. when i saw them they had a different guitarist. hes pretty much just a stand in... ANYWAY sum 41 is the fucking shit! i love them and i love their new sound!
