If you LOVE DVDs Walmart is the place for you. They barely have any blu-rays or 4Ks in store and most of those are the steelbooks for the steelbook section. I really miss Best Buy when I could walk in on release day and pick up just about any title I wanted. Sometimes I did have to place an order to pick up in store just to make sure I got a limited edition steelbook. Oh well has anyone gone into Gamestop to see if they have movies yet?

Thank you for watching and commenting! I won’t likely walk into a GameStop. Even if I did, the stores are all so small they don’t seem capable of committing a lot of space to something outside their typical wares. (Perhaps I can take a tour of my local stores for a video if this is a topic that’s not getting coverage…I appear to have three; used to be four) The second Wal-Mart I visit in this video is directly across the street from Best Buy. I used to visit both in concert to find some goodies and seek the best price between the two. I don’t go to Best Buy anymore as they eliminated my only reason for stepping through their doors. Consequently, I rarely find myself in the neighborhood of that Wal-Mart anymore either. This video was made as something of a counter to other RU-vid videos I’ve watched where it is both described and depicted on camera, Wal-Mart stores stepping up their physical media inventory, showing quite a nice collection of both Blu-ray and 4K releases. My intent was to illustrate this isn’t a universal move within the corporation and that, locally, I now find myself without a solid local brick and mortar source in which I can shop with even a shred of hope to purchase. I wish I shared your love of steelbooks. What is it that makes those a target for your collection?

My local Walmart is absolute garbage for physical media. I went in at the beginning of last month to a complete wall of movies. Very few to no Steelbooks at all. Went again at beginning of this month, and....... They eliminated all movies except for T.V. series, family movies ( much smaller section ), and a few random movies. And an end cap with new releases, also very slim choices. Do you live in Ventura, Santa Barbara, Camarillo or Thousand Oaks. I lived in Oxnard for many years. O

It’s really sad, isn’t it? I think it’s important for those of us experiencing the back side of the coin to speak out about our own experiences. If you went into the Oxnard store, where I filmed the second half of my footage, you’ve seen what I have. I was there last about three weeks ago? I noted they eliminated at least four four-foot sections of shelves from their selection. I even returned my purchase because there was no price tag, they won’t price match their own website anymore, and Amazon ended up being $10ish cheaper. As a RU-vidr, I’m not sure it’s the smartest idea for me to disclose the city I live in. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! Are you a collector? If so, I’m really trying to better understand the appeal of steelbooks. They get talked about a lot and I just don’t get it. I don’t think they’re worth the extra money, they now feel like a gimmick instead of a novelty with how commonplace they’ve become, and the art looks more often lazy than not. They no longer *feel* special. The Ventura store (first half of my video) does seem to do a bit more in the steelbook department, but not by much.

I know the feeling too my walmart sucks also it's rare that they pot new movies out I need to go to a further one and then if I'm lucky there will be new ones there

It’s disappointing, isn’t it? Just checked my map and I have two stores I *could* travel to and take a look at but I just don’t see myself driving an hour each way just to see if they *might* be better. Even if they are, would I be willing to make regular two-hour commutes to shop for movies? Not likely. Thank you for watching, for taking the time to comment, and for subscribing to my channel!

Walmart hasn't done squat ; as to being the ; leader in physical media. all i see there are damn empty shelves on the supposed; steelbook section and all they sell mostly are dvds. thats not ' stepping up their game ' in my opinion. we were better off with best buy; but they abandoned all their physical media buying customers. its pathetic

That is exactly why I decided to make this video. As I said here, I’ve seen a number of RU-vidrs both discuss and show Wal-Mart stores providing an improved selection for their customers. I have not seen this. You have not seen this. I think people needed to see proof that whatever Wal-Mart is doing in some of its stores, it’s far from universal, and shouldn’t be discussed as such. The loss of Best Buy as a source was a big blow, made so much worse if you are aware of the selection they had at their peak. I used to get tired of browsing before I ever got to the end of the several aisles they once offered, so each time I went in, I’d start at the opposite side from the last trip. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I went to best buy almost every week. I can't deny ; I was a shopaholic; for that company but What makes me sad , is just going there which I haven't and I heard people say ; that ; the bluray; 4K section was replaced with crap that no one buys. I wish we went back in time when best buy had everything you looked for. Walmart is just a weak company that; doesn't care about consumers looking for physical media. anyway I enjoyed your video and reply 👍

@@arturoalmazan5262 I agree with you completely. I have no reason to walk into a Best Buy store anymore. I noticed the scale back in physical media was mostly being replaced by exercise equipment. Really strange to me for an electronics store. Also really strange to take away dozens of small, individual, generally low-priced items and replace them with a limited number of very large, individual, generally very expensive items. None of it makes business sense to me. Agree about Wal-Mart, as well, given my own experiences. I just realized, too, that my local stores have completely done away with their discount bins I used to see customers digging though like pigs around a trough! 😂 I’m happy you enjoyed! I appreciate your presence and the interaction, friend.

The prices are bull shit for dvds should not be high or made still we want blu ray versions Also why the he'll do we have to pay double just because they put dvds with blu ray combo shit
@SumDumGy
@SumDumGy Месяц назад
It was next to impossible for me to determine prices on anything because the tags didn’t match the product. I ended up trying to make a purchase there that day and used their website to price the DVD set. It turns out the store price was higher than their website and they no longer price match themselves so I ended up returning it. I often wonder about the Blu-ray/DVD combo thing at this point. I understood why that was nice a thing but, nowadays, anyone who has a Blu-ray player really shouldn’t need a DVD to come with it anymore. Thank you for watching and commenting!

DVDs are still the highest selling form of physical media, driven by the normie customer who doesn’t need or care about higher end equipment or results. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!

Just depends on thr area u live and ehat sells good there that determines if they get a better selection or not. Yours isnt so physical media aint shit to anyone there. Lol. U cant use youtube videos to determine blanket statements like that. Doesn't apply to all. Lol
@SumDumGy
@SumDumGy Месяц назад
I don’t believe I made any claims to “applying to all,” nor did I make any blanket statements. I was pretty clear that my experience differed from what I saw others claiming they experience. I visited two different type Wal-Mart stores in two different cities with similar results. Thank you for watching and commenting! I’m sorry my video wasn’t to your taste.
