Well, it's more often the antagonists who make fiction interesting, so it's normal that seeing them in action raises the hype, especially when the future confrontation promises to be difficult for the protagonist and his allies.

The main story quest for Inazuma was a huge disappointment. It got a bit better with Ei's character quest, but you can't really count that with the main story quest. So much potential wasted in that region.
