Always ask your Financial Adviser if he/she "can act as your fiduciary at all times with all products" If they cannot they are not acting in you best interest. They are acting for their own interests using your money.
I'm in education so we have 403b. Luckily I can buy into index funds with very low expense ratios through my 403b and my school matches higher than what I contribute. So glad about that! We also work with a 3rd party financial adviaor company and they make no money off of the funds we choose. Very objective advice which I'm grateful for. Thanks for the summary!
