Always enjoy your videos, thanks for doing these. One question, what is the booster you talk about and where do you get one. Thank you

I been eyeing this bike for a few years now and I'm now hearing about this issue but it sure make me change my mind about getting one

I just bought a 2022 Vulcan S. Pretty happy with it.

Yeah I had that issue on my 2016 having that kind of on off throttle response which if your a beginner is alarming. Something you get used to but can freak a beginner rider out initially.

Will the official workshop approve of booster plugs when servicing? Saw some posts mentioning that it makes the engine cover up with carbon deposits fast. Now I'm confused!

I bought a new 2019 Vulcan-S. I now have over 2,220 miles on it. Excellent motorcycle!! Fun to ride!! I agree with your opinions on the Booster Plug. Really smoothed out the throttle AND excessive engine braking for me. As for your oil light issue. I did not have that issue of a sensor, but being "old" school I wanted an oil pressure gauge. I installed a 0-100psi gauge on the right handlebar just above the handlebar hold down. Ran 1/8"" S.S. braided line to the plug below the brake pedal bracket. It is this plug when removed that Kawasaki mechanics can check oil pressure with "their" tools. It is listed in the Service Repair manual. It works beautifully! But I will say when the engine is Hot (200degF+) or when the fan comes on (207degF) the oil pressure at idle (1,300rpms) is about 5-8lbs PSI. It comes up immediately when you get rolling from a stop, but just something to be aware of. BTW - I changed my own oil and filter at 300 miles and then at 1,000 miles. Then again before winter storage at 1,530 miles. It only takes 2 quarts of oil (10W40) and the $9.00 filter. Just an FYI... Thanks for the video! I also made may other mods, but that is for a later time.

@@MotoChooch No thank you for the video and heads up. You can also add a water temperature gauge if you were so inclined. I did and it is easier than the oil gauge installment. I just don't like relying on "idiot lights" and sensors to tell me what the engine is doing. That is not healthy to me. ALL my cars and my Vulcan-S have gauges.

I think the dual throttle bodies on the 2022 and newer Vulcan s models is supposed to fix the jerkiness.

So I got a 2021 Vulcan S, I want to get the booster plug for i anyway, should i get it and test it, or just stay away from it, or if I get a power commander would that fix the problem too

Thats weird. Never had any issues with my vulcan s oil pressure sending unit. However do have it on my svartpilen 701, positive its just the sensor as well though. Only issue I've had after 6000 plus miles on vulcan though is the weak shift return spring (sorted out in later models). Never stopped from riding enjoying the bike but just now getting around to changing it. Great bike though all round.

I agree with you about the Booster Plug, Chooch. It smoothed out my throttle and killed some of the nose dive in low gears too. Great bike, but I can't ride this year because of a car crash. (breaks my heart) Back stronger in '22. My Vulcan S is a '19 with a 2 Bros. exhaust. Stock is too damn quiet!...lol.

Sorry to hear about the crash. Sucks when life gets in the way of the things you want to do. Keep your head up, and get back to it when you can :)

Good video as usual. Always enjoy your work. One question, what is a Booster plug? Anyone that can answer please do, it will be appreciated. Thanks
@MotoChooch

Booster plug modified the air intake temp reading to the computer that controls how much fuel is injected by saying it’s slightly cooler than it is. Cooler air is denser and needs more fuel. The way the companies tune these hikes is as lean as possible for emissions purposes but it makes it choppy at low speed/throttle. Slightly more fuel smooths that out.

Pull the lams wire if it has one and that sensitive choppy throttle feel goes away

Absolutely had no experience riding whatsoever before my motorcycle msf course last January. I own a 2020 Vulcan S since last May, so that’s 1 year 2 months of riding with 5,300miles. Now I’m confident enough to ride any type of two-wheels. The Vulcan S does help raise your skills & confidence tremendously over time, I won’t deny that. But my brother has a stage 2 Scout 60 & I prefer to ride that more than my own Vulcan S because of its low-end power. Before my brother installed a new air-filter & Power Commander for his scout 60, my Vulcan S was more quicker & faster. But not anymore now. I’m just so use to my Vulcan S capabilities now that I often wished it had more power. My advice is to get the scout 60, it shouldn’t be that strong for new riders, only when you’re confident enough to handle more power should you install a aftermarket airfilter & Power Commander. Trust me it’s a big power difference after! If you’re a new rider and willing to spend extra $$ then the scout 60 is good for you 👍 ride safe, don’t be a jackass

How are the vibrations on your Vulcan? I have some vibration and my quad lock with dampener works but it's still shaky.

I have never heard of any vendor charging to check a warranty issue. Man, that must cause a lot of grief for the dealers.
@MotoChooch
@MotoChooch 3 года назад
Unless it’s the dealer policy itself and wasn’t made or enforced by Kawasaki. I don’t really know. Either way if you have a repeatable or provable issue it shouldn’t be a problem.

so, i have a 2019, just got it last weekend. and i'm a new rider. and i am finding it difficult with the throttle at slower speeds and on turns. what about just starting off in 2nd gear? good? bad?
@MotoChooch
@MotoChooch 3 года назад
Before I got my booster plug I just used more of the friction zone and made the clutch keep things smoother.

@Drew Rushing yeah, i'm getting better and better every day. learned on a harley street 500 in the MSF class that was nerfed to 25mph and 2nd gear only, so it's a big change for me. cheers!
