One shocking thing is that 16yo kids back then look like adults in their mid 20s or early 30s now. It's more like today adults look like kids back then, kinda. People were smiling at that time I guess.
Anemoia is the world you are looking for. This is what is so unsettling to me about the idea of a generation of "digital natives." Gen Alpha and some gen z kids have no frame of reference for what an authentic world looks like. Society is getting dicked by social media.
I would do anything to go back to the early 90s. And not because I loved high school, I actually hated it. I would go back strictly for the people I was closest to, and the life experiences we lived thru together. Whether it was experiencing a new era of music together, as it happened (Seattle Grunge Scene), or we were causing trouble, and getting away with it, those years during high school in the early to mid 90s, are timeless, and I will never forget them. I hate this life in 2024. I don’t know how much longer I can keep going…. Just being honest.
As a Gen Z 17 year old, I wish my teen life was like this, and I regret so much for not taking advantage of those beautiful years. But I hope that my adulthood could at least make up for my missed years of depression, toxic social media, and laziness. Please, Gen Z, let's change and enjoy life more without the control of social media addiction taking over our lives. You dont know how beautiful your years were until it is too late.
