My parents would always make me do these camps and I couldn’t complain because they’d be like “WE ARE PAYING FOR THIS FOR YOU!”

I was one of those sleep away camp kids and LOVED every second of it. I had a camp counselor who drew red dots on the campers faces and told us we had chicken pox or something like that. The entire camp put him on trial and as punishment had to be pushed into the lake 😊

As a camp counselor myself, this was the best video to come across after leaving work 😂

I went to summer camp almost every summer, I went to a variety of camps over the years, and I was always excited to go. The only problems I had were due to Karen counselors. And, thankfully, if one particular camp got too bad (usually theater camp because those counselors were Dance Moms level Karens), my mom let me drop out.

Summer camps are parents' way to say "We had you just so that we wouldn't seem weird to others."

This is why I don’t go to summer camps without intensive research and the option to quit. Once when I was like, 6 or 7, I went to a “ninja summer camp” and I was all excited. I went to the ninja camp section of the lobby right where all the buses parked. We all went to the bathroom, but then my mom yelled that I was in the wrong camp. I was really confused. I went to the camp she actually signed me up for, confused as heck. As it turned out, it was a cringy “candy ninja” summer camp (I was already grown out of all that by then) and I had to suffer for a whole week. And no, not what your thinking. It was *EXTREMELY* cringey, the only full line I can remember being “Alright, time for some lunch, be sure to watch out for the candy monsters though!” I also remember when there was a cool boxing match and I was really excited, but I had to ducking poop. I missed all of it, but I was probably lucky because it probably was just punching a random dude in a colorful monster outfit literally just standing there and roaring while the kids beat it up, with the counselor just saying cringy stuff, like normal. I did have a really fun experience at a baking camp back in preschool/kindergarten, or maybe before I ever went to school at all. It was at my local preschool, and everyone got to bake some surprisingly but absolutely delicious dishes such as baked apple and cinnamon, the only dish I can remember. While it was cooking, we all got to go to a MASSIVE play place in the “garage” area on the bottom of the school. It had mini play structures, and everything a kindergartner could want in a playground. I also remember a mini piano camp from around the same age, where I learned the basics of playing the piano, with the notes being color coded. But, after the “candy ninja” camp, I made the decision to only go to summer camps after intense research and being sure I can quit if needed. Hope you enjoyed this useless comment I somehow made in 10 minutes on a old, laggy IPad with two bars of WiFi.

Thankfully most of my summer camp experiences have been pretty positive. I went to a Minecraft summer camp once (yes that was a real thing) but we could never get the computers to work but for some reason I still enjoyed it. Other than that I went to a Cub Scout camp at my church which was kinda boring, but then I went to Boy Scout summer camp and it was awesome, it was on an island too so you took a boat to it and the weather was amazing there

As a football player currently I know how bad those camps can be. I had one this year that was 7v7 for 3 days overnight, the issue is we’re playing 10 games but they schedule 7 of them on the second day, as a player who plays both ways I was dead, then I get back to the cabin and see the biggest sunburn of my life, my whole arm is bright red and I look like a crab. Plus the standard sleeping in a college dorm with shitty mattresses expirience and of course having to get up at 6, it was fun but I was in pain lol

I went to disability school summer camp last month and I didn't have much fun I once got mocked for not having money on-hand when everyone had it and I got seen naked. we had to do so much running I ended having scabs on my foot because I had to use a uncomfortable sandal instead of the one I like also we saw a wild snake just right of the pathway when we went on a 'field trip' to add insult to injury we also had to go out in a rain when I was wearing hearing aid THAT CANNOT GET WET My only regret is that I didn't bring Uno.

In April when I was in 7th grade, I went to Camp Tucumsa, it was for 3 days,I think it was Monday-Wednesday,it was garbage,mainly because a lot of bad things happened on that trip, 2 of my friends weren’t being that nice to me during the trip,but the worst part is that for some odd reason, at some point when I was on the bus on our way to Camp Tucumsa,my ear started hurting a lot, but what made it worse is that every morning I woke up there would be these weird globs on my pillow that came out of the exact ear that was hurting, I tried telling the camp counselor but at the same time I didn’t tell them at the same time cuz I didn’t want to go home because I thought I would get introuble cuz the trip is expensive, not to mention,this was in Indiana in April so it was also freezing and we were doing activities up until idk how late,I did most of the activities except rock climbing even tho I did it before, so because of everything that happened,as soon as I walked in the door at home I started crying and said how 2 of my friends were being rude and that my ear has been hurting ever since I got on the bus to go to the Camp and how weird stuff were ending up on my pillow every morning when I woke up, so my mom took me to the doctor and turns out that I had a fever and an ear infection and I also had a headache and I was crying, so I missed school for the rest of the week and I also missed a little bit of the next week of school too, I found out a few years ago that they had to get me a brand new pillow and pillow sheet because it was straight up destroyed from the gloop thing from my ear, I think that even if it was just an ear infection that I would still be missing school cuz I had to hold a towel on my ear and sleep with a towel on my pillow cuz my ear hurt but also so I don’t get anything else damaged, and they also had to get me new headphones cuz the gloop ruined that too,so I think I would’ve missed school regardless but since I had a fever,that was an automatic that I couldn’t go to school, I think it was weird cuz I was completely fine up until I got on the bus to go to the Camp and I found out that I’m not the only kid that ended up getting sick at Camp Tucumsa, and my parents were like “why would we get mad if your sick 😂” cuz I was but I didn’t know that,because of that they didn’t let me go to DC in 8th grade were you went on a plane since I didn’t know anybody but also cuz we’ve went to DC and my only reason for wanting to go is that I’ve never went on a plane before so my dad promised that we would go on a plane at some point just not for school,and that did actually happen,it happened a day after my 16th birthday, not so fun time with those people that check your stuff cuz I cried when they were checking my bag after it beeped because I remembered my adhd meds were there and thought I was going to jail, it was all over a change purse I got when I was 12 cuz of how much change was in it,an up side is a mom saw that I was upset and told me how her son was checked for a bomb before,idk what it actually was but it wasn’t a bomb,a funny thing about how I was crying,jdk if they can arrest you for prescription medication cuz what did they expect,people to go without meds they need just because the TSA is going to have a problem which they won’t,at least in my case cuz my meds weren’t the problem

As a camp leader hes right about it lol the kids dont wanna do shit and we have to deal with alot of shit but we do our best to make sure the kids have some fun atleast

I’m at a summer camp right now. It lasts 3 weeks and we have to stay overnight. The worst part is that we have to go to classes about useless information, and I didn’t realize that until I got here. It’s also in another city, because of logic.

I go to a sport summer camp for a week every year (you stay there overnight). And i can not express with words how much i LOVE it, best time of my life (huge plus that we dont get phones)

I had to go to summer camp since kindergarten from 8:30 to 1:30 every day Monday to Thursday, and I hated it, and when I was 21 it was my last year, I was so stressed and finally I graduated school and don’t have to go anymore, I’m so glad i get to sleep in everyday

I had a swim camp too, but out consoler or camp leader whatever he was didn’t care and just let us play in the pool. We has noodle fights on floating maps and that ended up looking like the trailer to Godzilla vs kong.

I had one bad experience in summer camp in like grade 6 and I never went back. I was able to do summer school for one month instead of going to summer camp which I liked way more than summer camp. I was lucky enough that I it was just one one with 2 teachers for Math & english. Since grade 7 I have done summer school and its the best thing that happened to me during high school. I was able to have like 1 spare in grade 11 & 12 bc I took summer school.

I just finished working at a summer camp because of two sprained ankles and coughing. chest pains from being out in the rain, I couldn't stay any longer. I just reached out of the age of my local rec center summer camp. I’m glad because that place was a fuckhole. Not the counselor’s fault, not the place’s fault, all of the kids (probably including me) were little shits the entire time and pushed these counselors to becoming subs at my middle school.. rough fr.

After first grade, it was my first time at summer camp and every day FOR A WEEK I hurt someone or did something i wasn't allowed to do. and each day i came home from doing something bad and told my mom that tomorrow would be better, that was always a lie and man i wish i never went to summer camp.
