Those dungerees are a perfect fit as they are meant to be worn like that. The dropped crotch is a style. Hope that helps 😊

Don't know how into sewing you are but you mentioned a sewing machine so perhaps create a channel on the waist of the dungarees by using the surplus material there and thread elastic or a contrasting cord through it would bring the crotch higher.
