I loved this show, so original. Girl I even got my husband to watch it and he hates reality tv! Lol I really hope it gets a season 2, everyone was relatable. I went to an HBCU so each person I felt like I’ve met before.
I loved this season. I think my issue with it was that it was shot in the off season so there weren't really any people to invite back to the house. Its allegedly supposed to start filming next month which would be a perfect time for MV
The whole cast was literally anybody I knew in college/my sorority. I loved it. Like you said, the Zeus network style of representation has dominated the media for a while now, especially after shows like Love and Hip Hop exploded in popularity. I appreciate seeing some corny, suburban black people because I am a corny black person from the suburbs. I feel like the media (white media too!) would have you not thinking we're out here because we're so often painted by our struggles. I am looking forward to Season 2. Side note about Silas: Another thing I've noticed as I got older is that there are a lot of black conservative husbands! A loooot of my friends are trying to rebrand as Huxtables once they get into serious relationships. I think we're just not used to seeing that on tv because most of the famous black relationships that I can think of on reality television are all dysfunctional cheater ones. I think it can pose some interesting conversations about black relationships though. I would love to hear more of your recaps!
Everything you said!! PLUS - you hit the nail on the head about black conservative husbands! Because people have been used to seeing dysfunctional relationships, and let’s be honest, also relationships where women are more controlling than men - it’s odd to see someone like Silas but he actually represents a lot of husbands. Wow, I love your perspective! What else are you watching? I wanna review your list so we can analyze more lol.
@@jhenleybrown right now just the bravo related shows. I’ve dabbled in the others like belle collective, love and marriage etc., love and hip hop, but the only thing I keep up with consistent now is housewives! I can’t wait to hear more of your thoughts!
I watched the show the night it premiered, and I was hooked! Jas and Silas got married too soon. It seems as if they don't really know each other. I loved Preston and Amir. Alex really didn't fit in. He's handsome, but he was boring. And I didn't like how he judged Shanice so quickly. Nick and Jason were cool. I liked Jordan until she had the meltdown. Unless something happened off the camera that the viewers don't know about, she totally lost me. Bria was a spoiled, whiny brat! Every time something happened, she spent the day in her bedroom. It drove me crazy! Mariah and the last girl to come in the house didn't make a lasting impression. But overall, the entire cast should come back. I believe the 2nd season will be off the chain. They're going to take the training wheels off and go!!!
I got into the show hella late bc it seemed (at first) like they were too young. All giggly and weird over coupling and hooking up. But I got sick one day and gave in 😂. Definitely want a season two. Loved everyone except Silas. Sir needs therapy bad bad.
Haha, they were really giggly! I think they’ll seem more comfortable in season 2. Silas is so interesting to me! At first, I didn’t think he was controlling, just very particular. BUT, he started talking to Jasmine extra crazy and made me side eye him. Idk what was goin on but it wasn’t cool.
I think a cute, concise, cluster review is a good format. Maybe like every 3 or 4 episodes. If there's just a bomb episode that deserves its own recap episode, you'll know it when you're watching it 😅
Now let's get into the cast. Bria and her selfishness are needed. Her lack of care and concern for others really pushed the drama along. I feel like Jasmine and Silas arent good anchors for the show. Silas more than Jasmine. Hes not only conservative in his thinking, he's just not good TV. I can tell Jasmine is a fun girl, but is dialing it back for Silas. I feel like the women on the show are party girls but are concerned with their image. Hopefully a second season will loosen them up. Of yhe men I want to see Preston, Amir, Nick and Jason pack. Id love to add another queer man or woman to the show as well.
Yes you hit the nail on the head with Jasmine! She’s suppressing her true self (or at least that’s what it feels like). Also true about the other ladies - I mean, they met in the playboy club so I know they like to party! I think Shanice was the only one who came in and didn’t gaf, lol.
I loved the show! It was great to get to know new, young black faces on reality television. Everyone can return except the classless dude that pooped in the toilet and didn't flush it. I give the season an 8/10.
It was a cute show but something was lacking for me. Jasmine, Silas, Amir, Bria and Jordan can return. We didn’t see enough of Mariah, she can return. Too many bi-racials as well…yeah, I said it! 6/10⭐️
Yeah I want Mariah to come back! You don’t think they showed a good range of black people? I thought the cast was pretty diverse in the types of black people represented.
I am not fond of Silas…too insecure, controlling and very 1950’s type of man. Bria is spoiled and disrespectful especially to Simon. I like Mariah so they should bring her back. I don’t really care for Amir and Alex. I love Preston.
Preston was great! Amir was funny and seemed to keep things light. Alex brought food balance to the house. However, if they decided not to bring those two back, I would be okay. While people have their feelings about Silas, I think him and Jasmine have the most potential for an interesting storyline.
