I have this cabin and am doing the install myself, I'm not a spark, but your video gave me the confidence, I particularly like the idea of routing the black conduit outside and just having the pattresses showing on the inside. I have bought 2. 5 mm Twin and Earth and was going to install it as a ring main but take note of trying to force 2.5 twice through a 20mm conduit so I may upgrade to 25mm conduit if needs be. Great job and given me some excellent tips. Hope the cold is better, it's been 2 years so it should be.👍
Glad I could be of some help, depending what your running, I’d suggest only using a 20Amp radial to try and save the heartache of 2 x twin and earths. However it is doable with 2 you just have to take the time to feed them In straight with no twists
Great, I have loads of time as I M RETIRED AND DOING IT FOR MYSELF BUT IF i HAD MY TIME AGAIN i WOULD RUN SINGLE CABLE RUNS LIKE YOURS, THERES A REASON YOU ARE A SPRK AND i AM AN ENTHUASTIC AMTEUR. hAVE A WORK FREE sUNDAY, cHEERS AGAIN. mIKE @@Cablesmith
Thank you mate. Most people do pick white conduit, however I personally prefer black myself with the wood, only when it meets a white box/socket then it would look a bit silly. Black sockets and boxes are a bit hard to come by.
@@Cablesmith I like the black with a solid wall color. It's too bad the black boxes aren't more available. Mixing different colors of conduit and/or boxes would be naf.
Quality Job as always mate, agree with you about having fewer circuits and harder to make it look neat etc Nice job and pride in your work there mate, great planning to hide the conduit & run it round the back 👌🏻Would have done exactly the same 👏🏻👏🏻
Thats what happens when you plan the job ! Nice one. Looks great outside and in. PS have you ever tried to get 2x 2.5mm T+E into 20mm conduit with right-angled bends ? Ask Mr Jordan ..........😂
And he's back 👍. Nice little install there and spot on with the single cpc... forward thinking. So, got yourself an apprentice at last [following the trend of your idol Bundy10 and CJR...] but did you really need to ... 'go to the dogs'. 🤣
some good info and tips here, nice video bud. Just starting my log cabin now, concrete base cast, starting to build up the logs/walls now. I have about a 25metre distance from consumer box in the house, may I ask what the cost for what you did on this cabin was please ?
Hey just about to have a summer house installed . What would be the typical cost for something like this please. Parts labour etc thank you nd great work 😊
Thanks mate. So the 100A main switch is just that, a switch. It’s not a fuse and will never trip. It’s just rated at 100A as that’s what it can safely handle before probably melting. So, in this case, the maximum it will ever carry would be 40A, as that would be the point the supplying MCB would trip. Hope this makes sense, and thanks for watching.
hope your customer was pleased, really nice neat job I'd have been well chuffed if that was my shed. Question from a non spark, when you use single cable rather than T &E, is the earth the same gauge as the other conductors? Difficult to tell on a small screen, but it looked the same size to me.
Really nice job, I like how you work and your attention to detail. Not keen on those light fittings, looks like old rope wrapped round toilet roll tubes!
Nice job that mate 👍 Which back boxes do you use ? Tried a couple of wholesalers and the ones for conduit only have central holes and the blanks look horrible and break out so easy I’d be worried about a kid poking something through it !
@@Cablesmith best ones I’ve tried up to now were from CEF - had some from toolstation once (it was a desperate Sunday job don’t grill me !) and I wouldn’t recommend them 👍
Could you advice if I can run a power cable from outdoor socket to a summer house without placing the cable underground as we have porcelain slabs all the way? Basically looking to run the cable in a protective ducting along an external wall then along the ground at the back of my shed then into the summer house? Would a certified electrician be able to think of something along those lines and certified it afcourse? If not what is the best option in your opinion
Yes you can clip it above ground without any issue. Running from an outdoor socket may be a problem you’d be very limited in terms of what you could use in the summer house.
Yes, that is exactly right Terminator from Dunster House, I have it with the Evil Amy shed attachment which is where I am installing the consumer unit.
Not rude mate, but the answer is difficult because it all depends on the individual job, there’s so many variables like the cable size etc. usually £1000-1600
@@Cablesmith Wiring in a summer house, is there any risk of fire? I'm asking cause I'll be moving my PC into a summer house and the electricals will be done DIY, so I don't want my stuff to burn cause of an electrical fire
@@morninglobbyenjoyer I suppose there’s always a small risk of an electrical fire, but no more than anywhere else. Everything is protected by RCD’s, tested etc. shouldn’t have any issues
@@morninglobbyenjoyer I mean if there was a fire, obviously it would be much worse. But an electrical fault causing the fire isn’t any more likely than anywhere in your house really.
I have one cable going into the summer house. I want to wire 4 double plugs, 3 way light switch, 2 ceiling lights (1 switch), 2 lights on the front outside, 1 light on the side outside, and 3 lights on the wall outside. Do I buy a fuse box and have main cable going in and all other cables coming out please?
Can you answer this question from Fusebox so I know what to order please: I can see there is a main switch there (IT1002) and the RCBO’s I am unable to see the ampage. What is the ampage on the RCBO’s please 🙏
