Summer in Iceland: Snowstorms in June 

Officially, summer should have started in Iceland on April 25 - a national holiday celebrating the first day of summer! But now, in June, winter has returned to Iceland in full force.
On June 5, Art and Alina travelled to Akureyri to witness an unusual summer storm that unexpectedly hit the North and East of Iceland, blanketing the landscapes with snow and ice just as they were eagerly awaiting summer. Officials issued weather warnings days before the low-pressure front arrived, which helped avoid any major incidents. While snow in June is not that uncommon in Iceland, the duration of this storm is exceptional.
