Great to see. Did you notice that every time Alina makes a bad throw, Polly takes the frisbee to Valur next? And dos Polly still have a good supply of frisbees?
My wife and I had watched Valur and Polly on Grapevine for several years. Even met them in Iceland. He was the reason we found out about the volcano. Miss seeing them.
Sorry, but Polly is the real star of this video... and it was clear that Art understood this at around 34:00, when he clearly wondered where Polly had got to and had to move the camera to have Polly show up in the background! 🐕 However, thank you both very much for an interesting video on a wide range of subjects. And also for the view or another non-tourist area of Iceland. Using background clues, I was able to eventually find you and follow you on Google Earth🌎 😀
So glad to see Polly and Valur. Great discussion about the media. Schools should, at minimum, teach philosophy, especially logic, at the secondary school level. Aristotle’s Rhetoric should be mandatory reading, along with tools for language analysis such as semiotics. For me, a volcanic eruption is a reason to visit Iceland because geology is one of my interests, but I’d be content just to see the rocks. The other reason is that, while not exactly a tropical destination, it’s warmer in winter with less snow than where I live in Canada. It would be the perfect spot for a winter break learning Icelandic between cups of coffee and long walks.
Great thoughts from Valur on how to view AI. Don’t use it to replace the things humans are best able to do and prefer to do. Use it to remove the drudgery in life
Great to hear your thought provoking reflection on journalism. Here in Australia most of our media has too much political bias. Even the publicly funded network is skewed far to one side instead of maintaining the neutrality for which we pay. I am fortunate to be of a generation where we had a high school subject called Points of View, where we learned to read between the lines, develop healthy skepticism, seek true facts and form our own opinions on topical issues. These days there seems to be too much indoctrination and a readiness to believe anything that is spoon fed to the masses… even more concerning when “it must be true because Some Guy on Facebook says so!” Anyway, Iceland Review’s raw factual presentations and frank discussions like this one are truly refreshing. Well done!
Thanks Alina, Art and Valur. I started following Reykjavik Grapevine at the start of the 2021 Geldingadalur eruption and you provided top coverage in story and images. It helped me so much before I could travel myself (due to covid). I am eternally grateful for that !
I have missed Valur and Polly! I had the great opportunity to meet them and take the walking tour of Reykjavik with them and toss the Frisbee for Polly!
Things are scary in the usa. I can't begin to say how much it meant to me seeing Valdur and Polly. And in the 2 previous videos, Andy-Sophia! Please keep alive the spirit of journalism, i love you all!
We are thrilled to see Polly and Valur! We have missed them...they became part of our extended family when they were on RG. We hope to see them again soon!
It's so nice to see Valur and Polly again. I'm happy to hear that they are doing well! It would be nice if they come back more often. Iceland Review, Alina and Art keep delivering fantastic content. Keep it up! 😃
So good to see Valur and Polly together again. An interesting conversation about journalism. I have often wondered how difficult it must be to work as an independent journalist in Iceland because it is such a small community. There is also discussion about AI here in the Netherlands. AI is filled with data from the internet and therefore also content from newspapers. The publishers negotiate to be paid for this content.
Wow! THESE were a few special guests! ☺ Great to see Valur and Polly. I had seen some time ago that Valur was registered with RUV. So it was a nice surprise to see them properly again. Many thanks for this, Alina and Art - and all the best to Valur and Polly! Looking forward to your next video. 👍🖖 Greetings from Germany. 👋
Great to see Valur and Polly again. . We always enjoyed hearing from him. So genuine in his approach; we appreciated his Icelandic perspectives and humour. Thanks!
Great to get these news bulletins. Can you tell us where you are when you start a walk-around? Then we can get a better sense of geography of the city. Cheers.
