Last Sunday, Jan. 20th, 2019 - Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival, open air, 40°- freaking cold for Florida, only about 100 people in the audience. RnR, Rick Braun and Richard Eliot, played a GREAT concert, one of the top 3 I ever was able to see. I cannot explain how much I was impressed, even touched by their performance. They were freezing, Rick's fingers were so cold he had problems, only 100 people in the audience at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park where usually 2000 people attend, everybody was covered in blankets and wore gloves so there was not much clapping, but they played their hearts out for 90 minutes. Sure, they are pros and have some kind of work ethic but it was more than that, they obviously just enjoyed their music and playing together for us and making this cold day an unforgettable experience. Thank You ! They probably don't read this but to everybody out there - if you ever have a chance to watch them, even when it is 200 miles away - GO SEE THEM !!!!!
You are very kind sir. God bless you. God bless Richard Elliot and his band always! I love you guys and your families. We are in South Florida and I miss seeing these guys play concerts in places...like the Pompano Beach Amphitheatre. They took LOVE94 Smooth Jazz off the air and replaced it with satanic rock played on rotation and wonder why people in paradise are so angry! It's time to bring back REAL MUSIC that makes people feel better, more creative, happy, loving like Richard Elliot, Bob James, Fourplay, David Benoit, Kirk Whalum, Novocento and many more. You are right that the musicians on this recording LOVE WHAT THEY DO. THEY LOVE PLAYING FOR GOD, FOR THEMSELVES AND FOR ALL OF US.
Richard is one of my all time favorite sax players. I've been to hear him play several times and he's a really nice guy too. Hopefully I'll get to see you again soon if we ever put our foot down and demand to get back to our normal life. That is the only way it will happen
Fabulous. This is still my fave song. Possibly because I heard it when so very young, 4 yrs old, so I maybe heard it and was hurt so young, I swear not, this tune still haunts me. But now in a good way, I love it more than anything else.
Europa is a song composed by the great Carlos Santana but it is a song really made for the Sax to get every ounce of passion out of it. He plays with the same passion as Gato Barbieri. Beautiful.
I’m not a big fan of covers, but this rendition of “Summer Madness” is simply exceptional! I first heard it at the 2017 Newport Beach Jazz Fest. Thank you for the post.
I can't imagine why this guy isn't better known. Well I've shared it round all my friends and relatives. And I never lightly share anything. His violin playing is very special, hey you man, why ain't you better known in Europe? Please come play in germany . and Switzerland, both where I have lived. Then come play at the bic in Bournemouth in south England.
THANK YOU Michael Klein as I am listening to this during the COVID 19 time to stay at home! Usually Richard & Dave Koz is at the Reading,Pa. JazzFest at this time of year and I am really missing them play!! Thank you for these songs, but are there MORE??? Would love to hear them!! Cheers!
Richard Elliot is a master of his musical instruments, established and technically fresh tools, so why would he indulge in heap histrionics by jumping, bending almost double, and prancing about merely for cheap (and clearly insincere) effect? Ge
