I’m a single mother of 4 kids. I have a 20, 16, 14, and 10 year old. I work M-F 7am-3pm outside of the home. This video gave me some great ideas for this summer! I think I’ll give my sons a few projects to do, along with simple fun things and hopefully a mountain and beach trip sprinkled in. Thank you for the practical advice and tips!

Thank you Crystal for this. My kids are 12 and 15 and just like you said love to spend nothing but time on tech. I too am a big believer in having them be bored, they'll find something to doin those moments. This summer God has afforded us the opportunity to travel together for a vacation. But till that time arrives we will do other things we enjoy together; hiking in one of our National parks, paddle boating on a lake, we typically love to visit old historic places to learn about them, amusement parks and we LOVE jumping in the car and going for random drives, my husband and I have been doing it since before we had kids and now we do it with them.

My son is 15. Starting tomorrow we will clean any unnecessary junk one of each room in our house. Next week will start on the outside. Thank you

My kids ages 1 (almost 2), 4, 6, 8, and 11. We will do summer school work every weekday-ha! And one really fun outing a week mixed in with summer cooking, simple summer activities, lots of water things and memory making in between!

My girls are 11 & 9. We are doing a Bible study together, trying to teach them how to study their Bibles...I'm having them do a little math through games and a few worksheets and also writing through night zookeeper and writing letters to family and friends. Lastly, for "school" during summer we have a book reading challenge. I've learned not to do all every day, but sprinkle throughout the week. We each also did a bucket list and I'm choosing one thing from each section for everyone and adding I'm these requests/activities into our weeks. From baking to having friends over, craft time, etc. Having one main focus a day is feasible for mom and fun for them 💜

Hello Crystal I plan for my 15 year son,to experience this art program at a art college for a week.He enjoys digital ,art,actually all kinds of art.Also a summer job experience.

Id like to do nothing this summer but workout, eat good, nutritious food and read some books but my 8 yo son will be attending a math and reading camp the entire month of June and my girls, age 6, they will be attending an art camp the third week in June and a STEM camp the following week. I have no idea what July will look like but I’m hoping to get organized for the new school year. I’d like to mentally, emotionally and spiritually ready for 4th grade and 1st grade. I hope to work on reading comprehension in some fashion with all of them this summer and organize their room better with their help. I’m thinking about if we want to start sports in the fall.

I have no children in our home but we do care for one of our grandsons during the summer. I totally agree with your ideas expressed today. Very good advice. Children need & appreciate structure. It shows love & concern. I also agree they will thank you later, if not now. God’s continual blessings be upon you and your home.

My 3 boys are in a transition period. I have 1 out of college working to save a little money before moving into his own place. I have 1 going to college this fall and my youngest will be a junior in the fall. SO, my boys are going to deep clean their bedrooms and we are going to switch around rooms this summer. Plus, they will do weekly chores, mixed with fun days. :) Plus, we have a pontoon boat and I'm sure they will want to get out on the river on that too!

Chrystal, I now know what you and your siblings have felt in recent years. My Mama went home to be with the Lord on May 16, 2022. I miss her so much and I'm putting on a brave face, but truth be told, I'm a mess. I cry at the drop of a hat and I just went in her room to start the process of cleaning up. Packing away things that are dear almost feel like a thief. Mama made us respect others property, so.... I realize that in time I will heal, but for the moment it is a hard pill to swallow. Pray for me as I maneuver these waters.

Watch out with the power washer breaking the seal around your windows if you’re thinking about the boys spraying your windows, only spray don’t power watch, warranty will not cover that. 😊
