Aww, you are so cute. My brother has dyslexia too. Doctors list him on 6th grade reading level. That's gotta suck. Good for you that you work hard to overcome it and live. I cant imagine what's that's like. My brother was in the slower classes in high school and was teased. But he was an amazing basketball player - was able to make 3 pointers without even looking! He got all the girls lol. Its weird how some folks have extraordinary talents but lack others. Hope you are doing well!
"Was that the highest? - Well, almost, I mean, that guy who spent six weeks in the bathroom got a 91." That line cracks me up every time I watch this movie. I love it, Own it and God I miss the 80s!
+Joey Menace I've always found the scene where Chainsaw takes his driving test and then CRASHES,HILARIOUS-"Where are you going?" "BACK,because the test is OVER!" and with that,CHainsaw's driving instructor gets out of the car, (MR SHOOP'S,NO LESS!)the bumper falls off,Chainsaw goes on yelling at him and loses it by calling the instructor A DILDO(That's the part I found hilarious, first time I saw the movie),that and then where the one other driver who had just crashed gives Chainsaw a dirty look right after.
RIP Carl Reiner. He was 65 when he directed SUMMER SCHOOL and the cast loved him: “he really was like our father, or our grandfather - he protected us.” Complete "making of" facts here: 80smovieguide.com/summer-school/
is this the film where the substitute teacher walks into the room and everyone is covered in blood and 2 people come out of the cupboard ? cant remember if its this film
@thaKingRocka Sure, the original sentence said by Shoop is, "They're as smart as you and me" - So if you take out "You and", the sentence would read, "They're as smart as me", which is grammatically correct. But if you take the principal's "correction" as he says, "[they're as smart] as you and I" - If you take out "you and" it would read, ":They're as smart as I" - Unless one his speaking in high, Shakespear language, people just don't seak like that.
- Shoop "Francis Gremp" - Chainsaw "Don't ever call me that, the name is Chainsaw!" - Shoop "As in black & decker?" - Chainsaw "As in texas massacre" genius.
I tried to watch this movie the other nite. WOW, they actually make movies this bad. All the students look older than Mark Harmon, and they are all terrible at comedy. Reason, Comedy is the hardest acting, and all of them get caught acting. Spencer Tracy once told a young actor who asked him what his secret at being a Great Actor was, and he said, Don't get caught. This movie SUCKS!!!!!
Actually, Shoop's right, the proper grammatical form is "They're as smart as you and me." - So the principal is an even bigger stooge than what most people realize.
Shoop: From this moment, you people eat English, sleep English, you ARE English! Dave(accented): Oh, then pass the krumpets, ol'boy! Eaker: Do we have a binding agreement? Shoop(shaking his hand): We got something. Eaker: Well, we put that baby to bed. LET'S DO LUNCH!
@PromiserOfdeath2 Summer School is one of my favorite movies and hell yeah that's funny and it's funny too how Jerome ended up getting the highest score in the class on the test they took.
@clearsh0t No prob. I watched this movie several times over when I was younger. I see the similarities but I knew it couldn't have been him for the age difference. I spent more time in front of the TV than going to parties when I was in high school (87-91) so I knew a lot about the movies from the 80's.
This is what I read recently when I logged onto the Internet. You and anyone worth his or her salt know that the proposed 'remake' will not be as good as the original.
I was just like those kids then I became like that teacher. Now is retirement and who knows what's next. Grow weed I guess. Such a good movie. This is shampoovta and I'll see YOU at the movies.
@motleyhar Dude, you must be joking! This is nowhere near an episode of NCIS, and in fact you can easily tell by Mark Harmon's fun, loose, easy-going character compared to his hardass character on the show.
@jzimm1075 The way people speak and what is grammatically correct don't always jive with each other. The way to check on the grammaticality of this sentence is to continue with the implied verb. You need a subject pronoun, not an object pronoun for the verb. The sentence should be: "They're as smart as you and I (are)." Just because people perceive the correct form to be highfalutin doesn't mean it's wrong.
