Summit Racing's speed legacy began in 1968 as a one-man startup and is now the World's Speed Shop® with four facilities and more than 200 catalog editions. Fueling your passion, they save you money, deliver fast, and offer top-notch customer service for more than 1500 brands!
10 years ago, they launched the Summit Racing Mobile App for easy access to speed parts. Find them on Facebook, RU-vid, TikTok, and Instagram. Also, you can tune in to the On All Cylinders podcast for more automotive discussions. From humble origins to the social media lane, Summit Racing stands by your need for speed.
Mike: Summit brings another heater with the latest article on the OnAllCylinders page! They are talking about wiring and one of the topics says crimping is better than soldering and that made me feel way better since I succccccccck at soldering!
“For most applications, crimp connections are more reliable than hand-soldered ones. A proper crimp doesn’t damage the wire, add heat, or limit flexibility. The most common crimp terminals are insulated, but uninsulated terminals are cleaner and can be made without being obvious. A properly made crimp will last longer than a soldered joint and is easier and faster to make.”

Drag Drive Repeat is dedicated to the drag and drive communtiy! We will visit with participants of events like Summit Racing Midwest Drags, Hot Rod Drag Week, Rocky Mountain Race Week 1.0 and 2.0, Sick Week, and many of the other events that are beginning to happen!
If you are new to drag and drive style events, think of it like Two Lane Blacktop (you know, the old movie with the horrible ending). The participants of these events will drive their car from track to track, on public roads/highways, allowed only to use the parts/tools they bring with them in the car or in a trailer towed by the racecar. You must be self sufficient to compete in this type of endurance drag racing! There are no trucks with trailers that are following you to pick you up when you break.

I prefer uninsulated terminals with shrink tube put over them after crimping and in cases where I want more strain, vibration and or weather protection I use adhesive shrink tubing. And FYI, there are "step connectors" (larger on one end) that are made for populating multiple wires off of one wire (like what's in the soldered wires picture) but I do think the 'big stores' carry them (I just got more for another Holley EFI install from ProWire)...
