If it was something that was allowed and not all teams were made aware then Organisers are completely at fault. It is not down to teams to pass info on to each other, that's purely the organisers job. However allowing stream sniping in a tournament is beyond a joke.
@mcchofski2440
@mcchofski2440 2 года назад
The whole problem is that its a tournament (by default the assumption is stream sniping is barred) but everyone is on 0 delay (stated by organiser) so the question asked on whether snipers were going to be problem had to do with people popping in and out of chat. However the wording on both ends were kind of vague (the organiser most likely thought its w/e if some rando leaks something in chat) but because the player wasnt specific and still got the green light (i'm unsure if they had malicious intent or are just wilfully ignorant) they threw some thrusters on the chat hoppers and set them free. To bring it back 2 what u were talking about, the expectation is sniping isnt allowed but because of limitations of spectating it would probably b a problem. When the organiser was asked a clarifying question regarding the workaround for spectating - the understanding was most likely: since the expectation of stream delay in a tourney is unattainable there wont be repercussions for bad actors in the chats - but the players twisted this reasoning to fit their extreme.
@purpleranger5987

Every other tournament in any other game would consider meta gaming grounds for disqualification, but somehow they thought it was okay to do it? One of the biggest issues I have with this is that IF they asked a question like that to the organisers it should have been in a channel that was visible to all participants and if it was in private then the organisers should have made sure that the information requested was conveyed to all teams in case there were others with the same question who were assuming they could do it by default. If they weren't directly ghosting (which I don't know why they wouldn't since they seem to have interpreted it as ghosting itself being allowed but whatever) then it makes a bit more sense. Like why would chat ghost for them and be like, "Hey why aren't those other streamers cheating like you guys?" They want their favorite streamer to win and are just helping them, they wouldn't bring that up.

I get that what they did was unethical, but unethical doesn't mean illegal. It was entirely the fault of the tourney organizers for not explicitly clarifying. I know that if I were in a competition with a chance to win $35k, I would use all the tools available to me, whether unethical or not and I imagine most of the comments calling "cheating" would too. Not everyone has money like Summit or Doc, $35k is half my yearly salary. Don't get me wrong, it 100% should have been illegal and it ruined the spirit of the video game tournament, but the organizers dropped the ball, not the content creators.

No no... it was/is 💯 illegal, and breaks Twitch's own Terms of Service, "Cheating in Online Games Any activity, such as cheating, hacking, botting, or tampering, that gives the account owner an unfair advantage in an online multiplayer game, is prohibited. This also includes exploiting another broadcaster’s live broadcast in order to harass them in-game, such as stream sniping." Now... Let's look into the illegal Fraud part, shall we? 😉 While the exact wording of fraud laws varies, the main elements usually are: a purposeful misrepresentation of an important ("material") fact; with knowledge that it is false; to a victim who justifiably relies on the misrepresentation; and who suffers actual loss as a result. That group misrepresented their material fact, i.e make their own interpretation of the rules, which is just SIMPLE and Standard Knowledge about stream sniping on Twitch alone/Morals as a human, THEN to the Victim/Summit who didn't know that there was any change in the basics of a tourney like no stream sniping, etc, and he did suffer a loss from it. You can't put it on the tourney people cause its an unspoken rule, don't look at the other guys hand while playing poker, don't bring in cameras to etc etc etc... They messed up, plain and simple....

Cheating is unethical, bending vague words to your advantage when you know what the right thing to do is, is also unethical. Doing both for monetary gain is akin to stealing, which I think is undeniably what they did. On top of that flaunting your winnings through donations "I have 2.5k+ to spend to talk to you Kappa" is insanely douchey behavior, showing he knows and doesnt care that he did it. To me the blame can pretty firmly be placed on the tourney organizers, especially with them asking again afterward if what they did was ok and they basically just said yes, seemingly mostly just doubling down because they realized that they pretty straightforwardly gave that team the go-ahead to do that without telling any other teams the same

Someone asking a specific question about a gray area that would greatly effect the game and its kept in private and nobody else was made known about the specifics of this rule till afterwards when someone whistle-blew. This is really sus between both parties or that organizer is a major amateur, no offense.

Isn't it illegal for a tournament host to provide tools/advantage to certain participants without providing it to others? It is essentially rigging a tournament which has money involved, class action lawsuit when?

they also got the easiest card bruh so... i think it was rigged and hope this goes somewhere

The worst part is everyone taking it out on the streamers when the literal organiser was saying its fine. They did what they were directly told was alright to do. But Sum is too afraid to blame the organiser (when its clearly their fault for not telling everyone the same thing) and not get invited again, kinda fucked up morals from Summit tbh..

@@melris6655 there is a vast, chasm of difference between looking at chat and setting up a dedicated stream sniping discord. They were ready to go, specifically fishing for loopholes to exploit.

Watched Docs stream, no sniping occurred. They barely knew how to play. Why would they have tucking on the bingo cards if they could be called out by snipers?

this is where we are with gaming now. a super fun, chill SOT tourney is as sweaty as warzone. I watched most of gameplay and was blown away that summit didnt win. i just assumed the team that won were seasoned SOT players and just had the edge. Then it turns out they full coms. dam how bad were they. they literally scraped it while cheating.

If you win the tournament, no matter how fk sly and how much you cheated, and get away with it, its pretty much a win, organizers should make stuff more strict.

Why is nobody questioning the admins and tournament organizers? They're clearly an equally guilty party here
@JBeyondis
@JBeyondis 2 года назад
you do realize nobody asked admins/organizers about discord battalion squadron intel collection teams, all that was asked of them was, hey can we use chat if we see something? and they said yes, same with the confirming tweet. Nobody mentioned discord army collecting every nook and cranny from the whole globe just for one group.

No, the organizers are not. No one is so stupid as to assume this was ok. The reason it happened was because these baboons who "won" were purely seeking loopholes like a bunch of children. It's literally being a child in school and pointing out rules and saying "hey this doesn't say this" verbatim.
@Chilipotamus
@Chilipotamus 2 года назад
@@JBeyondis I'm mostly talking about the fact that the cheaters have spoken with admins about it after the fact and nothing has happened. You'd think a matter such as cheating in a money tournament would be investigated, but from the screenshots summit was looking at, it seems like the admins are siding with the cheaters on the decision, no?

how about this....nobody who is in tournaments for money should be streaming...they should stream through 3rd party so people can still watch them but the streamer can't read chat.... i mean it's not rocket science...
