In this video I install a set of SumoSprings on the front and rear of my 2008 Sprinter RV. SumoSprings are microcellular urethane Airless airbags and they work very well for sway control and they prevent hard bottoming out.

Thanks for posting. Interested doing this for my Sprinter based class C. What is the verdict? Did it improve the sway noticeably? Did it also improve the straight drive ride? Thanks.

The Sumo Springs worked as advertised. I can still make the RV sway by driving over a gutter too fast but it sways much less. Going down the road and around curves the RV is much more stable. It is hardly noticeable when I am passed by a semi. Before I could feel the sway start while the semi was still in my blind spot. Installing Sumo Springs is the first thing you should do if you are having sway problems. It is easy to so and the price is modest.

Thanks for the video, was confidence building to try this myself. Few things I might add to the conversation, now that I've completed the job. I used the MB jack under the passenger floor. A lot of work compared to the one you have, but first time I used it and learned a lot. Wish I had a pry bar like you had, but managed with a few other large tools and some creative leverage, including use of my old lawn mower blade. Front wheels I was able to achieve relatively easily without removing the wheels. Instead I turned them sharply for access before jacking and that gave me adequate access. Also, instead of the grease you used, which I didn't have, I dug out some Chapstick with a screwdriver...worked like a charm! I also re-used the existing MB locking nut which had the washer essentially built into it, thus not having the added challenge of lining up a separate washer. Took me about 3 hours, could probably do in less than 2 if I did it over again...even less if I had a good jack! Thanks again for making the video.

I have a 2016 sprinter chasis. I really like this how to. I did the rear and front. the back was a little of a bear but the second went real quick when I figured out what worked best same with the front. I did not have to take the wheel off or look down into the hole. His techniques with the magnet, grease and short socket worked great. Dry run of magnate and washer placement really helped to feel the washer on the sumo bolt to slide away once in place. I used my equalizer four leveling jacks to lift. Jack stands for safety back ups. Thanks!

Thank you! This made my install way easier! (for anyone else, my front sumo spring nut size was 14mm, the new nut is 1/2"..on an 07 Sprinter)

Thank you for the helpful video. Could you provide info where you got bilstein shocks for your sprinter? I was hoping you could provide more details of stepwise improvements you may have experienced in ride quality for every step along the way of upgrading suspension. Thank you!

Not sure if its different, but for my 06 sprinter, directions is that long lip is the rear, not the front

Where did you see that it says it adds 1000 lbs to the GVWR? I have never heard that before and if it is true I'd love to confirm. I've also never heard that it raises the vehicle either, for that matter.

All that came from the instructions.

Think you could do it without pulling the front wheel off?

Thanks for posting this. When you added the struts to the front did you have to have front end alignment?
@mars1952
@mars1952 7 лет назад
Yes, I did but by chance, I bolted them on with just the right Camber. The mechanic checked the alignment and retorqued the bolts.

When you put on the new front struts did you have to align the front wheels?
@mars1952

Yes, but by chance I put it back together exactly right and no changes were needed. Although, my front tires are not wearing perfectly.

Looking to doing this for the front since I have air ride suspension in the rear and can't use them there. What did you go with for the front?? There are two options. 500 lbs or 1000 lbs??
@mars1952

Jaime O. Diaz I used the 1000 pound version and Bilstien monotube shocks.

Just wondering if you need to readjust your headlights since the spacers affect body height?
@mars1952

The headlights seem ok. I assumed the front and back would be raised the same amount. The low beam coverage seems ok and I am not getting flashed but oncoming drivers.

Good! You can also shine your lights at a wall from a certain distance to double check. On Utube, (as usual).

these will crack your frame.

Please point out in minutes and seconds where you see cracks in the frame. (format, @00:00)

@@mars1952 my statement is general. Check out sprinter source forum. The frame is too thin for the point force. Air bags do he same thing.
