Very interesting, Piers' ideas are certainly worth consideration. I think I'm with him on most things. I admire anyone capable of a first in Physics from Imperial, regardless of their politics. This does not mean that they are automatically right, nor honest, nor well-meaning, though I suspect Piers is. I'll watch him closely from now on.

Piers Corbyn and Nigel Farage need to sit down together and have a private and constructive chat. Piers has some excellent and common sense ideas but he is not a politician. I see very little difference between the two men in terms of how they see the world and what needs to be done about it. I don't expect them to agree on everything but two people rarely do. We need to fight our common enemies on all fronts. On the political stage and with grass roots activism of the sort that Piers has described. Many people have very busy lives with jobs, businesses and families to attend to, therefore can do very little other than vote. Piers is 100% spot on. We need to forget about the old ideas of left and right as they have both become utterly meaningless. We can discuss the finer details after the war is won. There is very little wrong with the system as it is that can't be fixed by locking up virtually every one at the top of it. When it inevitably becomes corrupt again we do the same again. A very simple solution is to arrest anyone who is supposed to be worth over 10 Billion and don't let them out again until they can prove that they have made it all both morally and legitimately. If they can they can be allowed to keep just 10 billion of it which should be more than enough for anyone. We can have libertarian and socialist ideals but as ideologies they are both deeply flawed and potentially dangerous. We need the best of both worlds and we can have them. We can indeed have our cake and eat it.

I was at Australia house and piers and Heiko allowed me to speak and I accused piers of being a communist, he took it with a smile and agreed with most of what I said, but what was annoying me was that I perceived piers was trying to take control of the Movement. By the way, one of the other trials during the jury service was a defendant up for assault against a prosecutor who assaulted them while asleep on a bus then got off the bus. The justification for the prosecution was that 15 minutes passed between the defendant being assaulted and then punching the perpetrator when they came across them after getting off the bus at the next stop ... without trying to pipe my own horn, as soon as I got into the deliberating room I said I'm declaring the defendant innocent (although technically guilty by the letter of the law) becasue sometimes you just know that justice needs to be served to the right people ... all 11 others followed suit without question.

Very interesting discussion. I agree with Piers on almost everything but his Marxism. But Will, 'as an atheist' what is your basis for determining right and wrong? Surely there is only whatever you can do which furthers your own advantage.

You think 10 out of 12 is not a big hurdle for a jury decision ... I was on a jury where one jura convinced a few that the defendant was innocent based on gut feeling despite DNA evidence and so much more to the contrary ... I pointed out some video evidence that turned most around except 1 ... Judge eventually said he would accept 10 of 12 and the defendant was found guilty ... on sentencing, their previous could then be revealed and it turned out that they had a history going back many years and had only just been released from prison for the exact same crime they was being tried for ... for reasons I won't go into I suspected that the juror pleading for the defendants innocence had connections to or been compromised by the defendant... so in this case a requirement for 12 out of 12 verdict would have resulted in them walking free.

The weather can be predicted long term using the solar cycle but what can't be predicted is the influence of the weather caused by the met office geoengineering which has a massive influence on the weather as it is supposed to do in order to reflect the solar radiation back into space. There is no global warming or cooling other than what has happened naturally over hundreds of thousands of years and we have just passed the latest peak and will now be heading towards a mini ice age. Mother nature controls the Co2 levels and not something mankind should be trying to alter as that will be the end of all life. Everything needs Co2 to survive so no Co2 equals no life

Despite what Piers said, it IS agreed that in the past cycles, CO2 did rise following temperature rise. There are good reasons for this. The present rapid temperature rise is no doubt following man made CO2 rise causing abrupt climate change. The rapid rise now does not allow the eco system to adapt quickly, unlike the gradual changes of the past did allow for adaptation. Other than this, I agree with much of Piers conversation.

So remind us, when were all the storms following the aurora of 10/11 May 2024?

I would like to know if there is any affect from the earths magnetic field on weather. The magentic poles have been moving at an increasing rate for about 70 years. The magentosphere diverts alot of solar radiation. If there is a disturbance, then there could be an affect on the weather.
