Hi, enjoy your videos and am sad about your dogs! Mine was bit in the face by a rattlesnake and that was a scary time. Anyways, is the transmission fluid and hydraulic fluid the same? I just recently bought a 1975 580b and am confused about where to put the fluids! Thanks for any help you can give....take care!

If you got a shuttle shift like mine the the transmission has two halves the front takes hydraulic fluid and the real takes 85w90 gear oil, both fill plugs are in the floor by the gear shift. The hydraulic tank is the main frame if the tractor, the full point is a vented cap on top of the left side and there is a small plug on the side that is your full level. Thanks for watching hope this helps

Nice video illuminating common issues! However, your machine will thank you if you FIRST use a pressure washer on the whole greasy dirty mess!

Couldn't agree more but I don't own a pressure washer at the moment but it's on my list for sure!

Just came across your page and THANKS for the good info. I recently got a 580B that had been sitting for over 5 years, mechanic got the engine working and your videos have given me confidence to tackle the rest of the PM. 2 quick questions, 1) what's the trick to getting the hydraulic filter casing open (i see the one in your videos has had a few attempts) 2) is there a gearbox filter?

Hydraulic filter was just tight I think I was the first one to open it in a long time, so big pipe wrench was the ticket. And as far as I'm aware no gear box filter on mine.

@GRT Ranch adventures thanks, if it ever stops raining I'll get back out there and finish.

That tractor has a serious oil leak on the right hand side..
@GRTRanchadventures

Brother the reason I could afford this machine is all the oil leaks, I have been fixing them as they occur for years and currently there are no serious hydraulic leaks, no engine oil leaks, no coolant leaks, and no fuel leaks. Thanks for watching and stick around everything here is a work in progress😅 cheers!

Maybe it's splashing inside the case covering everything in it.

Ok glad I found this video. Question, you opended both drain plugs on thr trans and and mentioned two types of fluid...did i hear this correclty? Or is there only one fill point under the steering wheel and it takes hydraulic fluid? Thanks
@GRTRanchadventures
@GRTRanchadventures 9 месяцев назад
The front of the trans on a shuttle shift takes hydraulic fluid, the rear takes gear oil. Two different fill and drain points. Both full points are on the "floor" under the steering wheel.

But that second drain plug you found when you cleaned away the dirt and mud was the actual drain for the shuttle shift right? Thanks for your help. @@GRTRanchadventures

Hi, sorry to bother you, but who would you recommend to buy a seal kit from? Prices are all over the place and I don't want to buy a piece of junk that won't last. Thanks!

I've used a lot of hydraulic parts and seals from hwpartstore.com and so far have several years on some of them and they are holding up. I also like the way their site is set up it's pretty easy to filter the catalog to find what you need.

Could really use time stamps to relevant information. I got tired of all the irrelevant ramblings in the beggining and through luck one of my random skips landed on your admission to not knowing how to drain the rear, the one thing im looking for.
@GRTRanchadventures
@GRTRanchadventures 3 года назад
Feel free to go to someone else's video on it, or watch my video that's titled how to change the gear oil on a case 580b. Either way you can keep your irrelevant rambling to yourself, and when you do yours how about you edit a super high production value video on it while your at it.

@@GRTRanchadventures point being a video titled how to should at least focus on the subject and not just a random vlog episode.

@@swskitso if you don't like the content don't watch it, if you have something constructive say feel free but keep your passive aggressive jabbering to yourself. I'm the one making the videos, the point of them is what ever I decide to make it.

I did say something constructive, add time stamps to relevant points in the video so those looking for the info your title promises can easily find it. I have not been passive aggressive, i have been direct with you. If your going to title something "how to" then it should be educational, not just another episode of your vlog.

@@swskitso you weren't being direct you were being a prick. If you were trying to be helpful you would have left it at " could really use some time stamps to relevant information".

Sorry this was when I first started making videos so I didn't know anything about doing it. I think I've gotten better over the years I'll do another video soon that's more concise.
