Just needs a minimum price per mile and problem solved. You can still bid more but the shippers can't pay you less. For example £1.20 per loaded mile for a lwb. Any less than that and with a few hold ups you could easily be on less than the minimum wage.

The Euro 5 Ford Transit Customs 2013 - 2016 are ridiculously reliable. Run on a chain so no wet belt problems & super reliable. I’ve covered 175,000 miles in mine & it’s mechanically sound. Mine is the LWB variant (3M load space) the previous comment is indeed correct there’s no other van in that class that can carry as much weight. Even a bigger class van like a Merc Sprinter you put 800kg’s in it & it’s sitting low. In a Custom it looks comfortable with that kind of weight & the Custom drives brilliantly.

There are a couple of reasons why some people would become a courier on the CX or multidrop etc Example Many people may have worked in an office most of their life and have done ok for themselves and don't need the money and probably retired and bored or stuck in a rut or don’t leave the house and or are very lonely etc For these type of people where money isn't an issue and they can afford to buy a good reliable a long wheelbase base and afford to pay CX membership etc and they can afford to take a punt as a courier driver etc Driving all over the country seeing the countryside and getting out the house etc the CX would probably be very beneficial to them as it would give them something to do etc And for those that want to lose weight etc multidrop is the best way to lose weight and get to know your local area very well and meet people etc Not everyone needs the money some need the courier lifestyle Everyone's situation is different

Sounds like Jim on the run drives for a place I used to drive for when I drove a 7.5t atego out of Washington Hospital upto Edinburgh. Think the depot is in Birmingham somewhere. Used to be called bupa but now called Spire healthcare.

I only really use it for back loads or if a job comes up that's going to a place that I'd really like to do a bit of fishing 🎣 then I'll bid on it 🤔 if I've got a quiet day and I only bid on short mile jobs like between 30 and 100 mile jobs then it's possible to make a reasonable day from it but I don't know how anyone can make a living working only on the cx.

I thought courier exchange was for experienced couriers who needed extra contacts. I’ve been in the game for 25 years and on the exchange for 14 years. It’s great for contacts and if you do a good job, shippers will call you directly.

welllll not really , most jobs are hot shot so its not a backload site anymore when you are getting 99% being asap . But as you say great for networking and the 200 quid for 2 hours work calling you directly are there reason it can work .

Hi Pete firstly what a lovely home you have I really like the look, secondly what would you say about getting a non euro 6 van and which size van would be best if your based in London prices of euro 6 vans much higher if someone is starting out

If you don’t get a Euro 6 van in London, you will be paying £12.50 every time you leave your house. Get a euro 6, it’s a no brainer.

Ford customs ..... I had a transit connect hi top ( 55 plate ) and we put in with minimal fuss a honda crf450 . A friend had a transit and found it was harder to get the same honda into the back ! it stuggled with very poor headroom . Ford customs look fantastic for a van ..... but arnt what you call reliable as theres beyond loads up for grabs with blown engines . Great from new upto 125 thou then afterwards its a lottery .
