I visited Germany when I was stationed in Italy and it is a beautiful place with so much charm and amazing people ! Love your music and inspiration ! Munich, Germany was my home away from home for many years, and I am very familiar with the Frauenkirche. Your story took me back to the place I knew so well and I would love to hear about when this guitar was made, when and how George acquired this particular piece of wood. The amazing thing to know is that Doyle Dykes not only delivers surely the best version in the history of CLASSICAL GAS, but knowing he could go on with variations, forever and a day. And not repeat himself. When he performed at a music store here in Winnipeg Canada November 2018 he was scheduled to play (for an audience that included 50 guitarists) for 90 minutes; he captivated us for three hours! He must have made a mistake. But I didn't catch it. Imagine, virtuosity of that magnitude. Someday he'll be old and grey(er) and unable to do this anymore. Until then, we have the present moment, Hallelujah!
Doyle, I love your rendition of Amazing Grace. That is my favorite song and I can actually play it on my guitar, but it doesn’t sound anywhere near that good. God’s grace is truly amazing as are your guitar talents. I can only hope that when the sound of my guitar raises up to God, it sounds more like yours. Bless you Doyle!

What an amazing guitar! I so enjoyed this String-along particularly as I've just started building my first guitar and found that story so inspiring. Also the song Goodness of God means so much to me as it sums up how I feel, I've already told my wife that I want that song at my funeral. "All my life You have been faithful, All my life You have been so, so good. With every breath that I am able, I will sing of the goodness of God". Amen. Thank you brother Doyle.
Doyle, thanks for your Sunday music. I am a guitar player that started in 1964. I’ve managed to continued to play all these years. Some of that time was in church playing at Mass and Prayer groups. I even took a guitar to Vietnam while serving in combat. It helped me keep what sanity I had. I would love to meet you sometime. God be with you. Mike Walker

Hi Doyle, I truly appreciate your string a longs! This "story" about this guitar is just fantastic. The age of the wood how "old"it is and how it was obtained, coupled with the vision of making it into a guitar. All the music and singing rising up in this church from so long ago, saturating this wooden beam. Now, it is resurrected to bring more beautiful songs and hymns to more people through your playing. Great String-Along as usual! I thought I'd tell you that I took your advice when I recently decided my guitars needed some attention and took them to Randy Hughes, who is only about about 40 minutes from my home. Though it's true that only God is truly good, I do have too say of Randy, "What a great guy!". He spent over an hour going over my guitars' needs with me and I even got him to tell me the story of how you two met. So he's working on my classical guitar now (some cracks) and after that I'll have him do a setup on my Hoffman SJ. Oh, and from a side comment he made to someone else there, I think he's now trying his hand at building acoustics and has three in the works. So thanks much for the tip!

Most of the instruments you use are above average, but this guitar ( or at least my perception of how it sounds over the tube), is OUTSTANDING in its sound and tone, and made an instant impression on me.

i learned "Easter Song" from your album when i was a kid and to this day I thought this was a song by some old composer that it was an old sacred song. It has a Scarlatti sound to it. But it was written by Anne Herring in 1971. I also met you a few times and played banjo with you and I'll never forget the ping pong fingernail conversation. Easter Song actually shares some motifs from Scarlatti Sonata in D Major K.33 at about 14 seconds in

I got some cathedral wood. It came out of Catholic Cathedral downtown Indianapolis Indiana. It was in a construction dumpster. No laminations.⅞"x16" five feet long. We do make lumber like that anymore
