Sunday String-Along, 9.1.24 (“Sowing and Reaping TOO”)

Hi Doyle. I’m 65 years old, and have lived times during the worst of my undiagnosed bipolar (about 25 years ago) that made me feel like I’m not good enough for God to use. All I have is the music He’s given me, and the hope that He will touch someone through it. I can tell you that I do share it, and when God helps someone with it, and I get to see that, it means everything in the world to me. Now I love your Stringalong, and during every one of them, I can see the moment God takes control and suddenly you are playing and singing 3 or 4 songs you didn’t plan to sing, and EVERY time, the Lord heals things in my heart, because you are obedient to Him. What I want most in the world is for people to come to Jesus through the music God has given to me, or just talking face to face have Him take over and do a miracle in that person’s life… that’s all I want…. Thank you for being obedient to God and allowing Him to touch me through you. Keep up the good work Doyle.

I wrote a song a while back called "All My Heroes are Gone" (When Jimmy Buffet cancelled some tour dates due to health and after losing so many great songwriters. John Prine, Nanci Griffith, Guy Clark, etc.). Today I realized I still have heroes, and Doyle, you are one for sure. What an inspiration you are in my life. God Bless, you!

Wow, what a powerful story!! "walking away." There is nothing that will ever top God's blessings. Your actions back then to walk away from what you were witnessing obviously left an impression on Donnie!! The fact that you kept him in your prayers speaks to your heart for others. This story had me all choked up with tears!!! Not tears of sadness but of Great JOY!! Prayer works.

Thank you for a great message today, I could write a book on walking away from my previous life but it would take hours. Thank you Lord for letting me and guiding me to have the courage to walk away and not look back. I took that walk in 1985 and there are no regrets.

I remembered Abilene Christian Univ. folks in my prayers and pray for the community itself regarding that terrible traffic bus accident earlier for the football team, driver and officials and their family. Also prayers for the family of the driver of the other vehicle that allegedly caused same accident (I do not believe the family was involved but it is hard anyway for them, I'm sure). Great picking as usual Doyle. Happy to listen to joyful music today. My late father helped build the L-1011 jumbo jet for Lockheed. I flew as a passenger once on one. Such a wonder!

It all fell thru and blew up in my face. I never ended up doing what I started out, but I know God had a plan for me and am doing what I know. God Bless you dearly!

Thank you Doyle. Very timely message. Please pray for me. In 2015 i was without an acoustic guitar. My mother and stepdad paid for a custom guitar made for me by Ryan Gerber. The guitar is beautiful but I returned it after having it a few days. It just didn’t seem to have the sound I expected for such a high end instrument. I received a refund and later Ryan told me that I wasn’t wrong for returning the guitar. He wished that he had offered to work on the top braces to loosen up the top. I was heartbroken. This was my dream guitar. To this day my mother doesn’t know that I returned it. I’m not proud of that. Last week I was looking at Ryan’s website to see what he was building which led me to a business that consigns some of his guitars. To my amazement the guitar that he made for me was listed for sale. Ryan told me that it’s been in its case for most of the past nine years. I am trying to buy it back but I don’t have $7000 to spare. In fact I just replaced our HVAC for $7500. This is either the enemy wanting to throw this decision up in my face or God giving me an opportunity to get it back. It sounds incredible now. Finger style guitarist Matt Thomas has a few demo videos on you tube. Every aspect of the guitar is personal. I don’t know what to do except pray. It will have to be God. Thank you for praying and for reading the long email.
