Kevin Phillips is a real Sunderland's record post war goalscorer and one of the greatest players in the clubs history.
He played 235 games for Sunderland and scored 130 goals between 1997 and 2003.
He scored so many fantastic goals that is is hard to pick 10 goals but here are ten of best!

Kevin Phillips doesnt get the respect he deserves. When he was at Birmingham he was stil sticking them in. Top goalscorer.

We need all Kevin Philip's goals compilation with full attacks from start to finish. And also compilation of his technique, dribbling, first touch. etc skills. One of my fav players. And he's a Sunderland legend, deserves to be highlighted again and again. And his play could teach young strikers many things.

Personal opinion is that Chelsea goal should be number one. I still get goosebumps watching it
@SunderlandAFCTV
@SunderlandAFCTV 4 года назад
Yeah. With hindsight maybe it should be number 1. Especially considering the quality of the opposition. This and Defoe's volley against Newcastle are possibly the best goals seen at the Stadium of Light.

I agree, the 1st half against Chelsea & the way Quinn tortured Desaily(can't remember how to spell his name) I've not seen us play better football against top class opposition as good since that game.

Great channel! Absolutely loved this. Was at a few of these matches. Sad that this is so far from what we have today playing for us. On the other hand, I feel lucky to have lived through those times with KP and the other quality players we had. Never understood why Peter Reid was sacked... Anyway, thanks for your excellent work re SAFC. It's much appreciated! Cheers PT 👍⚽️

Perfection. I think a lot of none Sunderland fans thought he was a goal poacher. He was so much more than that. That goal is sublime and is no 1 in my top ten volleys video!

He had such a talent yet was constantly ignored when it came to playing for his country. Only 8 caps and was an unused substitute at Euro 2000.

Back then the teams did not have money to flush away down the toilet, because he was Sunderland's main man and fan favorite, they obviously would have wanted more for him due to everything he represents. Nowadays, they would just throw so much money at the club, they would not even have room to considerate it, they would just say "OK" and Super Kev would be playing for the likes of Man City or Liverpool. Thats why he never got enough opportunities with England, 5-15 minutes at most at the end of each game for England with players who played for the top teams in Prem was not a good enough opportunity, they all had their own click, I remember watching England thinking pass the damn ball to him!

Best goal scorer in Premier league history as far as I'm concerned. Alan.. Who ? The wanker who wears a wankers hat ? Shearer, he was a tap in merchant, now Phillips could score from any part of the pitch, he could dribble, hold the ball up, make a sweet pass, take it round defenders and baffle them before curling it, volleying it, heading it, back kick it, mate Phillips had class as well as a strikers intuition and ability. Top class all round and you could have put him in defence or even in goal and he'd still score in most games. Brought me and many other SAFC fans much joy and visual magic over the seasons he played for us and that one against the scum at Sid James Park where everyone thought, aww there's née way, oh my dayz, he chipped it and curled it up, over and around the keeper and into the corner net it went and he done it on a soaked water logged pitch with poor visibility due to horrendous playing conditions. What a legend. Alan Shearer ? Haddaway shite he was née where near our Kev man.

Yeah, Possibly. Or the curler against Everton, or the header against Forest. So many great goals didn't make my top ten. What number do the think that goal at Newcastle would go in the list?
