Hi, I own a couple Sundstrom half-face respirators and approve of the quality design compared to other similar brands. You could call me a fan. I'm curious though if Sundstrom has considered working with commercial airlines or aircraft manufacturers in developing a mini PAPR type system to be used for more confident, protected, comfortable breathing use for commercial air travel ?? I'd personally feel very confident and comfortable wearing this type system rather than breathing through a tightly sealed disposable mask on a longer haul flight - regardless of any specific bug, germ or dust particle, etc., floating around or sneezed into the cabin! : D Thanks

Any reason you couldn’t use the belt front facing? I use a leaf blower to blow down dust before cleaning and the blower is on my back. How long is the air pipe?

Hi, The SR 500 fan unit is designed for use on the back for comfort, ergonomic reasons, and the fact that most people work in front of themselves. There are however occasions when users would like to have the fan unit front facing like in your case but then you need to be careful so that the hose to the head top doesn’t get caught into something so that the respiratory protection can be compromised. The breathing hose is 900 cm long and there are several different head tops to choose from see, www.srsafety.com. Hope this helped!

Too bad that all those controls/indicators are on the small of your back, and be seen... a post-blower CPAP inline anti-viral filter at the hose connection would be better as well for COVID-19 use. I would expect better designs for the cost...
Igor, have you used an SCBA's before? The audible alarm systems used here does not seems any different than that used on SCBA's, which has been an industrial standard for years, plus there is the addition of vibration alarms. Like on SCBA's, where do you put all the indicators, so they do not obstruct or hinder your work or view? I have seen and tried a few different attempts by various manufacturers, but any time they have attempted to place it in view or in front, it was cumbersome. As far as for Covid-19, there’s a filter for that, filter SR 510!
Forget the blinking light. Unit vibrates when alarm function sounded. Also, the P100 particulate filter + pre-filter is superior in particulate filtering performance than a leaky hit and miss N95 particulate mask, if that's what you're questioning .
