I filmed this several years ago and honestly don’t know. I always hold the drill bit up to the screw and choose one slightly smaller. Sorry that isn’t a direct answer but it’s always best to not over drill the hole.
Same with me I even bought another box from Costco and they still don’t work either and we’ve done everything the way it supposed to be. It’s not that hard. I’ll go and re-tighten my balls right now.
Hi. Great video. Quick question about the initial charge. So if the strings are not connected, is the switch supposed to be in the ON position? Thank you!
I don’t know that it would matter because nothing would be trying to pull energy, but just in case, leave it in off, then attach, then flip on. Thank you for watching and I hope you love them! Sunforce is sending me more products to show soon.
Hi! I bought the same product you have, the manual says it should charge for 3 days. Does the light bulb light up even after just 1 day of charging? Mine is not working with 2 days charged.
Mine lit up right away without charging prior, although you’re correct, the manual recommends three days prior. Double check the internal batteries are inserted properly and that the cord has a good connection. If it still isn’t working (mine need the remote to activate) call Sunforce directly.
That sort of depends on how much light the panel gets. I’m in Ohio, and the lights typically last about 4-5 hours. They’re off when I wake up in the morning.
Hi Jen, I wanted to ask if a light string connected to another string that has the solar panel could work together? Or would I need a solar panel for each string?
What I like about your video most is that you showed me how to shorten the space between lights so I don't have to shorten the string. I always hate cutting into light strings and LEDs are often designed for a certain load. Thanks for the great inspiration!
Well this video could not be more timely. My wife bought lights pretty much just like yours off of Amazon for our pergola. Ours is more of a square over our patio. The lights arrived yesterday. Different company...Brightech but the same Edison LED solar lights. We had cheapies before just like you. The bulbs eventually filled with rain water and that was the end of that story. The rain water froze in the winter and blew up a few. Hopefully the new ones will stand up to the weather. As always thanks for sharing!
Hey i bought mine but the light bulbs came separate and when I tried to attach them they didnt screw in. Have you heard of this or anybody else had this problem?
I wouldn’t want to answer for the company, I only put this video together for them. Possibly the battery has gone bad or the connection between the lights/panel is loose?
@@Jennyfromtheshop Thanks, I'm looking at using them in a barn w/sensor outside...barn has no elec... Just wanna charge the sensor/batts outside & carry it in and connect to the string when i'm working in the barn...(The property is a fixerupper out in the country) ...Thx
@@BopKitBill Sounds lovely! I’m going to be doing the same idea with their motion type lights in my shed. I’m mounting the solar panel on the roof outside but the lights inside. Same deal, no electric. Depending what version you get of these lights, they might have a remote turn on vs dusk/dawn feature.
Thanks for the review. I got mine from Costco and was working perfectly fine with the remote. I switched it from ON to OFF and then ON to manually turn it on while outside. The remote control no longer works to turn them on or off (red light turns on on the remote control). Does anyone have a clue if I need to somehow reset this system?
It depends which model you buy. Sunforce makes some products that are dusk to dawn and come on automatically. My set in this video do not, you must turn them on/off with the remote. Or, turn them on at dusk and leave them until the stored power is used up. I think mine last around four hours if left on.
@@troyhenry3267 Yes! I have some saved in my affiliate link on Amazon www.amazon.com/shop/missdewaltjennifercline/photo/amzn1.spark.v2.spark.460def41-28d4-4389-a8be-8cdacc5b0c43
There is nothing of value in this video that is not in the instructions or common sense. How many hours of direct sunlight does it need or will it charge with partial sunlight? How long will the lights stay lit in the evening before you are left in the dark. Is there warning light flickering lights, dimmed lights, or do they just turn off?
It needs direct sunlight as I mentioned in the video. The rest of the questions will vary depending on location however I’m in Ohio, so if I turn mine on at night (typically it gets dark around 8:30 - 9:00 pm) they will last about 4-5 hours and dim as the power drains to off. I created this instruction video at the direction of Sunforce, so any information you see is what they wanted me to cover. Their customer service information is in the description if you’d like more details.
For the life of me, I cannot open the battery compartment on the remote. Does anyone have suggestions. I did it last year when we bought it, but can seem to open the thing.\
Hello we have multiple strings of these lights and they aren't pairing together so the remotes are interfering and we can't get all the strings to be lit simultaneously. Please help!!
I’m sorry you’re having trouble! I only made the demo video for Sunforce using one strand, so I don’t have that problem. Please contact the company for help, see description for info.
Hi, Great video thanks! I need to position the solar panel further from the lights. Is there an adapter or some such that would facilitate that or could I make something?
Hi Bill! I’m not sure, I don’t work for the company, I just made this video showing the product. Their customer service info is in the description though if you’d like to ask them. I did suggest some type of an extension last year when I put lights around my gazebo but staked the solar panel into the ground.
I’m getting to this late, I’m sorry! You either figured it out or broke it out of frustration. If you look at one side, there are ridges you’ll need to push over towards the main compartment, then slide out. I might to a quick video on this.
As I understand it, the model at Costco is remote control activated, but there is a model on Amazon that’s dusk to dawn without the remote. www.amazon.com/dp/B08HQGLT3C/?coliid=I1TGX5WQFMIGQ6&colid=129V9WPY1Q8BD&psc=1
@@thepracticalaudiophile It is well made, just doesn’t have that particular feature. I’d personally prefer the dusk to dawn option over manual on/off as well. Certain models are made to be sold in specific stores with slight variations.
Only one bulb lights....the last one of string. So I unboxed another string and got the same? I suppose that means I'm doing something wrong. I didn't uncoil the strings since I simply want to test them before the install. Anyone know why only the last bulb in the string would light....also it's not dead bulbs as when I swap them to that socket they work....but only in that socket!
The panel needs charged before using but even so, I’d uncoil them. Possibly it’s interrupting the flow? If neither works, call or email their customer service. I put the contact info in the description. 💛
@@Jennyfromtheshop Yup did that and got the same result....Out of 4 strands 3 have the end bulb syndrome and a 4th string is all dark....I called sunforce on got a message...told to email...out of patience though...and i act bought 6 strings tot but they all going back to costco....I'm a ret EE and tho they were cheap this is not a bargain...thxs for your effort tho
@@Jennyfromtheshop never easy jam packing information in a short video and yes as a fellow creator I totally understand and you always kill it good work as always Jennifer hugs glad your doing well
Both my sets were working great but when I switched the panel off one set then on again, the remote no longer worked for that set. Batteries are fine of course. Have you seen this problem?
Hi Cal! I only have this one set that I used for demonstration purposes. Are you able to contact customer service for Sun Force? I included their info in the description in case anyone had problems outside of my knowledge.
Hi quick question did you just install one box of lights? i bought 2 boxes and im trying the remotes and one set turns off and also turns off the other both remotes will not turn on both sets.... just wondering if anyone has had the same problem and how did you make your remotes work for the each set.
Hi Priscilla! I only have one strand but the customer service email is info@sunforceproducts.com or the phone # is 1-888-478-6435. I don’t know if they’re programmable to turn on both? This is the first I’m hearing this particular issue. ❤️
I also brought 2 boxes of the solar light I had the same problem, it seem like the remote is interfere with 2 solar panel. 1 on and 1 off or vice-versa when the button pressed, I even separate the solar panel 15 foot apart still same. Going to call customer service for solutions.
@@Reagan68746 Hi Ryan! Please call customer service 888-478-6435 or email @sunforceproducts.com. I believe each strand is supposed to work independently.
