Fantastic chat guys. When you guys talked about all this stuff behind the music that not many really come across and appreciate, when I went to see Snarky Puppy play at Royal Albert Hall, I couldn’t believe my ears as to how well their sound engineers managed to fill this huge hall with the sound of well over a dozen instruments. You could hear every sax note, every piano stroke, every drum hit. I suddenly became super appreciative of their engineers and saw them as integral band members, since without them, it simply wouldn’t sound as good.

i think at this point, it doesn’t matter about publications and whatnot, they both have excellent (big) RU-vid channels and amazing peers which is more than enough to get their music to many people’s ears!! they deserve it all!

So weird to bump into a familiar name here, of all places! Olli Hirvonen and I played in the same group way back (like 15 years ago) at a conservatory in Helsinki. We were sooo into acoustic jazz that the Steve Vai factor never came up (nor did a distortion pedal). Had I known that, our coversations would’ve been quite different… And the music. Speaking of music, Sungazer is a great example of how contemporary musicians can make a palatable synhesis of (my) various musical tastes and styles in a similar way as Steven Wilson does. Must agree with your thoughts on diverse influences and open-mindedness. Thanks for the great content!
