The St Pete Sunken Gardens is one of the most popular tourist spots and one of the most beautiful places in all of St Petersburg FL. But many people don't realize that there is another beautiful (and FREE) option for garden lovers just a few miles away.
In this video, we take you along with us as we tour both of these amazing St Petersburg FL attractions. We hope this video will help you to experience the beauty of the St. Pete Sunken Gardens and Gizella Kopsick Arboretum, and maybe even plan your own trip.
Located in St Petersburg FL and Pinellas County, the St Pete Sunken Gardens are a botanical paradise offering a collection of over 50,000 tropical plants representing over 5,000 species. They are also home to a flock of Chilean Flamingos. Just a few miles away, the free Gizella Kopsick Arboretum offers a collection of over 500 palms and cycads representing over 150 species.

Wow I'd love to spend a few hours in the sunken garden. My husband would love that it has a lot of shade. Cute little turtles 😍 Your lunch looked so good too! I didn't realize there were so many kinds of palm trees.

There is just literally nothing better than being in nature. This made my heart sing. The sunken gardens are just so beautiful, I can't definitely picture a beautiful wedding there. We absolutely love Flamingos, they just so so so beautiful. Such interesting facts about the flamingos, thanks for sharing that. The arboretum looked so beautiful and we love that its free. Loved hearing all the birds in the background. Ah we absolutely love cicadas, and yes, you guys definitely have to come to South Africa 💜 What a stunning video guys. Thank you for sharing.

So glad you made a video of the sunken gardens, remember you showing it briefly in a previous video. We also think that we would go through gardens very quickly and then realize it could actually take a whole morning 🙈 It’s so beautiful though and a great alternative to all the beaches in your area. Really lovely gardens, I love that feeling of being in a rainforest even if its manmade. Not so keen on the birds in cages. Kookaburras really have the best laugh and are so magical to watch hunting in the wild.

@@Explorcation It's so hard, if I had it my way no animals would be caged, but that's a pretty tall ask of the human race. When you finally do experience the Kookaburra in the wild, it will be all the more special 🧡 If you watch our Nimbin vid, Brendan captured one eating beautifully on our travels. There's an even older vid, I think I called in morning walks or pack training, and the kookaburras are going bananas at the start when i head out for the walk.

Omg...I've never seen a flamingo in real life but it's on my list. Just loving the hat too 😁😁 The bamboo section is really nice...I love seeing Japanese type gardens. What an orzo salad made of? We get heaps of cycads here in Australia...I actually went through a garden in my QLD road trip series in the outback that had heaps of cycads...it was a dinosaur exhibit . Thanks for sharing guys 😁👍

The Japanese gardens were probably my favorite part of the whole gardens. Orzo salad is made of Orzo pasta, feta cheese, cucumber, tomato, not sure what all else. But it is great! We would love to see the cycads in Australia someday. Such cool plants!

What a garden!! Love all the palm trees! That's so awesome that they have birds throughout the gardens too. OMG I LOVE FLAMINGOS, so cool. Max the turtle was not feeling the camera that day, that other turtle was loving it though.

I could easily spend a whole day at the Sunken Gardens! So much lush greenery...I can't believe you spotted a starfruit tree. That's one of my favorite fruits...I guess Florida has the perfect climate to grow those. All the water features are so relaxing sounding. There are some cool animals in the gardens as well. My favorite is the kookaburra...too bad it didn't laugh. I had no idea what a cycad is either...it looked like a huge pineapple to me!

Thank you very much for this video, and the recommendation at the end looks very nice! From what I see you have a little backpack with you, to which I am wondering if either garden in this video, or any of these gardens/etc, check inside backpacks? From what I recall Disney and some museums do check backpacks, but I was curious about these gardens. With what's going on the last few years, I don't like/want other people touching my bags/stuff, so any help is appreciated, thank you!

Thanks for the continued support, John. A market video will definitely be coming at some point, but probably after Covid dies down a bit more. We missed the grand prix this year, but definitely have plans to attend next year. It looks like a blast!
