SdJ nominee? This is in the same category as Azul, Splendor, and Century: Spice Road for me. So smooth, so satisfying. Components are excellent. Such a chill sit down and relax, welcoming-weight game. Immediately after a crunchy game of Nucleum I was absolutely thrilled with Sunrise Lane. An absolute gem of a game.

played this at Essen and really liked it, fortunately a friend bought it as i think this will be a really great "begin of the game night"-game for a long time. I was surprised how much i liked it, thought this would be an 8

That I needed to mark up the board with markers and highlighters to match the colors of the cards as closely as I could does not take away from this being a fun game. I just didn't expect to buy into an art project! Definitely a recommended game!

I have Rondo and I wouldn't swap it for this one. The Rondo chips are very satisfying to play with and beautiful. I think it would have been spoilt somewhat by adding area-majority stuff. Try it sometime.

Tried this at Essen. For me i don't see much replayability, maybe if there were multiple end game scoring cards to give a bit of variety but i don't know what else they could be

Thanks Mike. I’m having a lot of the same thoughts. Looks like a fun game but is it one to add to my collection? I’m not sure. I also dislike the player score trackers being flat cardboard chits.

Knizia is such a brilliant and underrated game designer. The best to ever do it, at least half of my Top 10 games are his designs. Thanks for the review Mike!

If a person is looking for a town-building game, I feel like Tiny Towns is the same price, has expansions, and can play 1-6 players vs 2-4 in Sunrise Lane.

You should see the first half of the Top 100 Reiner Knizia Games of All Time with Tom and Mike. They were able to list out 100 games, but with many of the early ones being stinkers.

@@DTChrisYi I'll watch it over the weekend. It seems like half the work would be making sure there aren't multiple editions of the same game on the list. But it will be worth it to hear Mike gush about Katzenjammer Blues.

Thanks Mike, but I do not agree with you when it comes to your opinion that this reimplementation of Rondo has so much more theme than the themeless Rondo. It's more the SETTING that gives that feeling to this game than that it is thematic.

Boring looking games do not sell well. in 2024 with so many beautiful looking games this will go to forgettable land. Put the same mechanics into attractive design and we have entirely different story.

Meh. I have Mille Fiori and don't think this one is worth it. Aside from drafting, both are point salad games with combos and card play, except Mille Fiori does it better and is better looking.
