Hey guys and welcome to todays video where we share a list of the best sunscreens which have all been tried and tested and verified for their SPF level which will give you peace of mind when shopping with any of these brands... I would love to know your thoughts on any of the products which have been mentioned in this video and of course any other recommendations you have so please leave me a comment below.. Sending you lots of love xxxx
Hi, need a video on mineral and Chemical Sunscreen, people get sidetracked into buying a correct SPF and not advised on whats really best for there skin 🤔
Hi @MadAboutSkin! Where do you find information about the testing and results of sunscreens? I’m very interested to learn about the topic and would like to continue delving into the issue. Thanks so much for your informative videos!
@@judeizzabee9543 I use the UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence - it has a light citrusy scent which isn't overwhelming and it will fade eventually. It's not my fave BUT the deal breaker is that it broke me out.😔
You’re slowly becoming my fave. You’re uploading game is too damn strong. Keep up the good work and thanks for giving a shoutout to Cyrille (he’s amazing).
Awww thank you so so much hun and I love Cyrills channel, his accent is so soothing and his recommendations always good... sending you lots of love xxxx
I'm so appreciative of this info and recommendations. I've been quite lost since the Purito scandal ruined my love of those sunscreens. Thank you so much!!
I'm STILL on the hunt for my HG face SPF. This video has been invaluable to me. Thank you so much for all the love you show us followers with all the time and research you put into these videos. Very grateful ❤️
I'm looking forward to your review of the Altruist sunscreens; their mission is admirable. You and Dr Dray are the only RU-vidrs I know who are speaking about them
Omg Altruist made it to the list 😍 what I love about this sunscreen is that its plain sunscreen ( no essential oil ,no tone up effect which is usual for a Korean sunscreen )but its somewhat cosmetically elegant as well
i've been using the krave beauty one and wasn't worried after the purito incident so i'm really sad to hear about krave :( but i'm happy with your recs and i've been meaning to try the more affordable biore anyways! thank you for always keeping us updated!
You are a gem! This is a perfect video. It’s actually raining in Phoenix, but I still put on my sunscreen before going out walking. You never know when the sun will come out! ❤️❤️
Its a pleasure Celia and I hope people will be able to find a good one from this list which works for them... I honestly love the Skinnies at the moment as their environmental sustainability is so good and they are cruelty free and also have reef safe options which is amazing... I just wish they were a little cheaper as a little goes a long way but it still puts people off trying the product... sending you lots of love from a snowy UK to a rainy Phoenix.. xxxxx
Thank you for doing all of this research on which sunscreens have been third party tested. I now know which sunscreen to order next. I tried P20 and LOVE it. I was surprised that the application wasn’t terrible with all of those great filters in it!
Its a total pleasure hun and thank you so so much for sharing your experience with the P20 I need to give it a go for sure... sending you lots of love xxxx
A Korean sunscreen that hasn't been tested, but I do HIGHLY recommend testing out is the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel. It has 6 different filters, so I do trust the stated protection. And it's got niacinamide, ceramide NP, and centella asiatica. It's just a really nice formulation.
@@rubyhua8352 it has a dewy finish and feels lightweight. But since it has a few types of hyaluronic acid & other hydrating ingredients, you might need less moisturizer if you have oily skin. It does look a bit shiny as a I reapply throughout the day, but I don't mind. I prefer that to a white cast.
With the 12 different sunscreens I have in my cabinet right now, I'm ashamed to say I have yet to try these (aside from the Biore UV essence)! Thanks for the recs. I really look forward to trying The Ordinary's and Paula's Choice.
Haha Brandon you are just like me, i have way too many sunscreens on the go at the moment... hope all is amazing with you and sending lots of love xxxx
I have to admit, I had a slight "Oof" moment when I saw that the NIOD Survival 30 was $30 CAD for just 1 oz. But then I considered that I will spend easily that much combined on an antioxidant serum, plus sunscreen (not including a mattifying powder if I'm using a formula that doesn't dry down as nicely). Then I went to check out the NIOD ingredients and wowza is there a lot in there that my skin loves, which I can't always find elsewhere (like the prebiotics and algae extracts). So I'll keep that tucked into the back of my mind for when I've finally gone through my horde of serums and sunscreens. I'll also say, while it hasn't been tested for efficacy yet (that I'm aware of) the best mineral sunscreen I have ever found is SNP's UV Perfect Air-Safe SPF 50+ Sun Cream. It's the only non-nano mineral sunscreen I've found so far that doesn't leave a white cast and dries down matte. The colour of the product when it comes out of the tube also leads me to believe there is a decent amount of the active ingredients in there as well but I would be interested to see if they get the independent testing done.
I totally know what you mean hun, i look at the NIOD survival and gasp whenever I buy it but my skin loves it and its the only sunscreen i have ever used which is totally blending into my skin and makes my skin look even better than it did before.. its so powerful and works so so well so its worth it if you can splurge but its certainly an investment lol... sending you lots of love xxxx
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the skin aqua sunscreens. Particularly the skin aqua super uv moisture gel. It’s a holy grail for me along with the gold version. I’m trying their essence sunscreen now and it’s different from the other two but I’m still loving it.
Hey hun thank you so much for watching.. I haven't tried them all but i used the original one and loved it.. I will pop the others on order so i can do a full review on them.. Sending lots of love xxxx
Hey! So happy to hear you are going cruelty, will be watching more of your videos now! We need to become much more aware of all the products we are using and the impact they have to the planet and harm they do for the animals. There is no need to test on animals and its just horrible when companies do it.
Hey new subscriber here! Love your videos and the fact that you’re also UK based 💙 Could you add whether or not the sunscreens are suitable for people with dark skin tones (think Naomi Campbell, Alek Wek skin tone) I really want to try the Alturist ones but I’m scared it’ll leave me looking like Casper the ghost 😭😂
Hi hun and so lovely to have you as part of the family, thank you so much for supporting the channel... Thats such a good idea and I will do that for sure... sending you lots of love xxxx
I'm loving watching your channel grow! And your efforts to be clear and transparent about what is and isn't cruelty free is so lovely as it's something I care about.
Any information on sunscreens is always useful. I’m still trying to find the perfect 1, 2, or 3 to keep in my rotation. I go through a lot of product living by the beach in Southern California. Thank you!
Thank you for this video! I’ve been so distrustful of every sunscreen these days! Also any tips on how to use existing sunscreen bottles when it’s been proved to provide low protection? additionally, do you know if Krave Beet the Sun is being tested?
Hey hun, thank you so much for watching and thats a great question. I would continue to use them but indoors and in the months we are not exposed to high levels of UV radiation... sending you lots of love xxxx
Thank you so much!!!!! I just felt so frustrated at all my favorite sunscreens not having the declarated SPF and wondered if someone would make a video about verified sunscreens. You saved the day
I’m 45 always had dry skin flaky on forehead but when I turned 40 got lots of acne rosacea on side of nose and around it. It’s better now but one side still flares up now and again Also suncreams make my eyes water. It’s tough finding something to match my crazy skin. Thank you for your videos I’ve been binge watching them!! Love your channel!!
Hiiii I just discovered your channel today and omg I have already watched over half of all your videos 😂. I found you by coincidence as I was looking up videos about the ordinary etc. As the skincare junkie I am I can literally listen to you for hours sooo you got yourself a new subscriber, keep it up 🙌🏻
Awww thank you so so much hun thats so kind of you to say and thank you so much for all your support which means so much to me... sending you lots of love xxxx
Yess! Thank you for this! Looking forware to more sunscreen reviews in the future :) I personally ordered two European mineral sunscreens (Fitocose Baby Zeta Carrot & Zinc Sunscreen SPF 50 and Alpine Organics Mountain Breeze Sunscreen SPF 5P). I hope they are good!! Lots of love xx
Thank you so so much for watching hun and I hope they work well for you... will you keep me posted on what you think as I havent tried either of them... sending you lots of love xxxx
Thank you for the video! Gonna try out the Paula's choice sunscreens. I dunno didn't really like the biore one. Side note do you think the purito centella unscented serum is close to/ a dupe for the paulas choice peptide booster?
Oooooh thats a good question and I would say they are pretty similar.. they dont have the same peptides in but in terms of the outcomes and results they deliver i would say there is little between them other than the price, with the Purito one being so much more affordable... sending you lots of love xxxx
Thank you so much for sharing and the incredible job you're doing. I have been using the Skin Aqua super moisture milk spf 50 PA++++, but i haven't found any information, whether or not this sunscreen meets the expectations. Do you know anything about it?
Hi hun and thank you so so much for watching and for such a lovely comment.. i am not aware of any testing which has been done on it but I will keep looking and let you know if i find anything xxxx
Thanks a lot!! This is the only sunscreen that doesn't irritate my oily and sensitive skin. It would be a disaster to find out that this sunscreen is among those which didn't do well in those testing.
I think SPF 50 is the way to go given that we may not apply enough / reapply when we should, and despite all the testing, there may still be a margin of error in terms of what the actual protection is. In terms of mineral vs chemical, it is the perennial white cast issue. And surprisingly, some mineral sunscreens don’t even contain both ZnO and TiO2 so that’s another issue. As for chemical sunscreens, finding one with good filters is not that easy either. Many chemical sunscreens have only 2 filters which is not particularly reassuring so I can see why P20 is said to be amazing because it has 4 good filters. Ultrasun Kids is another one with both Uvinul A plus and Uvinul T 150, and Tinosorb S and M. The white cast is still socially acceptable so it’s the only one I can trust will deliver.
Fantastic quick guide to some alternative sunscreens!!!! The Altruist is still, so far ,the one to go for a sunny day outside 😎.... the SPF 30 is less emollient that their SPF 50...very affordable for body use.... still, sadly 😥I haven't found a European sunscreens that quite matches the "elegance " of the Asian ones...😶... the CANMAKE and the BIORE brand are still my favorite brands for every day use on my face....Thanks Rob for your wonderful contribution on recommendations 😀!!!
Its a total pleasure hun and thank you so much for watching.. I love love love canmake can't believe i forgot to mention them in this video.. I have the altruist on order so can't wait to try them out xxxxx
Hi Rob, sorry, I don’t check if the products I buy are cruelty free, just being honest about it. I think a lot has to do with the culture we have been brought up in... And especially now with the SPF scandals we don’t have a vast choice of cruelty free. How about Ultrasun ?
Ultra sun is amazing i love them and there is no judgement at all from me, we all have our own motivations as consumers and i loke to respect them so i hope this video gives something and options for everyone.. Sending you lots of love xxxxx
Thank you so much!!! I was so confused about what to do and who to trust. Im glad Thank you Farmer made it!! What do you think about the neutrogena ones?
Its a total pleasure hun and I am so glad you found the video useful.. Neutrogena passed their testing and have a great range, I dont use them day to day but they are worth looking at as an option for sure... sending you lots of love xxxx
Hey hun amazing I am so so glad you are trying the subq which is so so good.. i hope you love it as much as I do... you can use it with retinol no problem and i would put it in before like you said... sending you lots of love xxxx

Thank you for the video. On a personal note, from what I saw with Purito independent testing, I can no longer see a sunscreen with and SPF from the Asian market being the same SPF in the European market. Purito tested SPF 19 in Europe and SPF 28 in Japan. I can no longer trust the testing methods. Until one uniform standardized testing method comes around I will stick with European brands.
I have officially moved on to the biore uv watery essence and I LOVE it. Its super thin and light weight. Perfect for me because I always wear moisturiser for my dry skin anyways. Thank you for this video. Oh and no white cast on my brown skin.
Thank you so so much for sharing hun and its great to know that there is no white cast on brown skin... I am so glad you love it as much as me, its become one of my favourite for sure... sending you lots of love xxxx
My current go-to sunscreen is from Sephora's website and it's the Innisfree SPF 36. It's so good!! It's a chemical sunscreen but not irritating to my sensitive skin.
When I feel lazy, and the idea of not skin caring crosses my mind, I watch one of your videos for inspiration :D I had to share my current obsession: Anthelios mineral one creme de jour. It has a ton of colour, and you can even build your own color by mixing 2 shades. I am pale as a sheet and I managed to survive mediterranean summer with it. It's moisturising, has a nice coverage and works as a light foundation, the colours are beautiful! I wear it over my moisturiser (already with 30 spf), because I have dry skin, and i enjoy double protection from sun (again, very pale skin).
Awww thank you so so much for watching hun and for such a lovely comment.. I havent tried many of the anthelios ones but I need to as they sound so good so thank you for the recommendation... sending you lots of love xxxx
Hi Rob! Thank you so much for another great video :) I've been using Hada labo UV white gel and been really loving it for my oily skin! The first 30 seconds it looks a bit shiny but then absorbs beautifully. However, I was just wondering if you know if its been independently tested or not? I'm pretty sure its a Japanese sunscreen, and I've heard they have stricter restrictions with SPF's over there, but it would be nice to know because I would definitely repurchase again if its holding up to the SPF 50 and high UVA rating it says it has! Sending lots of love and keep up the great work :) xx
Hi hun thank you so so much for watching and sharing with us your experience with the Hada Labo... I dont think they have been independently tested but they are Japanese and go through much stricter testing requirements than some of the ones which have failed and so i think you should be ok... sending you lots of love xxxx
I absolutely adore the Altruist sunscreens, however I was wondering, have they been independently verified for their potency and efficacy? When I tried to look this up I couldn't find anything.
Thank you for this informative video! I've tried the La Roche Posay Shaka fluid. It did protect me from the sun but it was extremely oily and it stung my skin due to the denat alcohol.
Hey hun thank you so so much for sharing and for watching.. i agree with you alcohol is not for everyone thats for sure but it helps my oily skin in moderation... sending you lots of love xxxxx
Thank you for telling us which countries products are available in, especially Canada. It's so difficult to find good products that are easily accessible in Canada. Love your channel! Can't wait for your skincare line :)
Hi, I just recently discovered your channel and love your videos... but here me out If you do product recommendations, could you pls mention where to get them and how much they cost ? Lots of love
What are your views on missha sunscreen?? I ordered iunik beta glucan moisturizer on your recommendation now looking for some affordable sunscreen Nature republic or inisfree or missha Can u tell about these
Love Cyrille and just have ordered the p20 kids 😁I'm actually using isehan kiss me mommy which I love and is so affordable but I can't find it anymore on Yesstyle ;(
I do too hun his channel is so good and i am always happy when i see a new upload from him.. I hope you love the p20.. Let me know what you think xxxxx
Krave Beet Shied, Make P:rem Blue Ray sun fluid, and Frudia are my most recent tries. I have combination skin... the Krave is more moisturizing, but it’s so tiny for the price. The P:rem is a larger size and is good for oily skin... very mattifying. The Frudia Tone Up (for oily skin) a fantastic price, but it’s thick, mattifying, and definitely has a cast. I’m super pale, so it doesn’t bother me. I have the Frudia Ultra on order to try.
Thats so true, i think anyone with olive skin or darker will struggle with this as they only have one colour tint which is a shame... I hope some of the others work well for you... sending you lots of love xxxx
This video was so helpful!! I just finally ordered Skinnies thanks to your videos! Have you checked out I Am Sorry Just Sun Cream from B.Lab? It’s cruelty free, fragrance free, and has a nice moisturizing formula for the winter weather.
Hey hun thank you so so much for watching and I am so so glad you decided to give the skinnies a go, I hope you love it as much as i did... I habent heard of any testing of the B Lab but I will look into it for you and let you know... sending you lots of love xxxx
It was tested with NZ authorities to the usual amount but it massively exceeded the spf so it implies the pea size amount will give the spf 50. Sending lots of love xxxx
Hello! I know you were previously looking into the mak p:rem uv defense spf. Do you think it would still be ok for everyday use even though it’s not SPF 50 as stated on the bottle? I couldn’t find out if it was at least at SPF 30 or not!
Hi hun thank you so so much for watching, the make prem hasnt been tested but its not made in one of the problematic labs so it should be ok and i am continuing to use it... i hope this helps and sending you lots of love xxxx
Awww thank you so so much hun... I am well wrapped up and hot water bottle on the go lol.. I hope all is amazing with you and sending you lots of love xxxx
Thanks so much for this amazing video Rob 🤗 I would love to hear your thoughts on Banobagi milk thistle repair sunscreen please 🥰🥰 sending lots of love ❤️
Hey hun thank you so so much for watching... I havent tried it but the formulation looks amazing and the ingredients are so so good so i will pop one on order to try and let you know what i think... sending you lots of love xxxx
Here is the update on animal testing in China. As of January 12, 2021, China has a form that can be filled out, verifying that the country or company (need to confirm this), can attest to the safety of the product. Once the form is satisfactorily completed, the country/company can export to China without testing. Hope this helps.
This is a fantastic development and I am hoping this will mean brands who have fallen foul to the testing like La Roche Posay will be able to use this as a way of regaining their cruelty free credentials... I wish China had done this so much sooner to spare animal lives but at least its a huge step in the right direction... sending you lots of love xxxxx
@@MadAboutSkin As a Chinese I’m absolutely appalled by what Chinese government’s past and continuing stance on animal testing (which is completely unnecessary, both ethically and technologically). I think they were pressured into passing the new regulation due to the collective effort of Chinese and international NGOs advocating for animal rights. Kudos to these people!
@@JT-dd9fi I'm sure the fact that the world and its mother are primarily choosing cruelty free products had a lot to do with it too. Consumers vote with their wallets.
Hey Rob, this video is definitely a thumbs up. OK, running off to shop for the Badger Products--got to love that name. Just a little more research first! keep up the research, love you for it ~ P
Hi :) Thanks :) Will try skinnies :) Could you consder reviewing the svr cicavit cream and the tesco, sainsburry, morrisson (cheap) brands?! :) Keep it up loving your videos :) xx
hi hun thank you so much for watching and I will be covering some supermarket recommendations in the coming month so keep an eye out... sending you lots of love xxxxx
Awww thank you so much for supporting the channel... officially you should wear one even when inside but I dont as the uv index is low here in the Uk anyway though this is just personal preference and I always put it on before I leave the house... sending you lots of love xxxx
I've used the Paula's Choice Daily Wrinkle Defense for several years. I've never had a problem with it. I also use their Non-greasy spf 50 on a daily basis on my face and body.
Im using CETAPHIL spf50 for longest time. It's perfect. Not greasy not too white. Right there on the price margin. Plus serves as a moisturiser too. For me personally, its a gem.
La Roche Posay "Shaka" fluid made my face itch like crazy. There's too much alcohol for my face. I can use it on my neck. I have the fragrance free version, and you should be careful not to accidentally pick the fragranced version... I have to say that while it may sound like over reaction to avoid drying alcohols all together, for some of us it truly causes excessive dryness and skin irritation. I don't want fragrance because it doesn't help my skin in any way, and I don't like smelly skincare! Another problem is zinc, it can cause dryness... It is very upsetting that just the organic sunscreens that I had picked, where the ones that are now under serious suspicion: Keep cool, Purito and Hyggee☹ To be honest, I will use them as long as there is some UV protection if not the advertised spf 50+ pa++++. There's other methods for UV protection too...wearing protective clothing, seeking shade and going out when there's less UV radiation. I remember when I went to a beach with my Chinese friend, she took a parasol with her😀❣ That's something western people never do🤨
I suffer with combination to dry skin/eczema and I really wanted to like the altruist sun cream but it was way too uncomfortable on my face and caused eye stinging. I changed to the La-Roche Posay Invisible Fluid (can be on offer at £13) and I love it. It soaks straight in and I can wear it every day without irritation. Thank you for this video!
All the P20 products are amazing!! My ultra pale Nordic skin husband adores them. They are super popular in Scandinavia. They are as heavy duty on the beach as the Badger´s, which are also very, very good.
Thank you so so much for watching and sharing your thoughts which are super helpful as I have yet to try the P20... sending you lots and lots of love xxxx
I prefer mineral sunscreens but most seem to be chemical, which sting and irritate my skin. I'd love some recs on mineral sunscreens that can be bought in the UK too
Hi hun, i love mineral sunscreens for the same reason as you and todays video is on the best mineral sunscreens so i hope it will help people find the one for their skin... sending you lots of love xxxxx
Which of these were independently tested in vivo (on human subjects)? Bc in vivo is more accurate than in vitro. Iirc Biore and Iope were tested in vivo.
Thank you so so much for calling this out, I spoke to the brand themselves and they confirmed they adhere to EU regulations (which prohibit testing) and they dont sell into China which would make them cruelty free.. I will keep looking into it though... sending you lots of love xxxx
@@MadAboutSkin Thanks for the answer! you're right they are cruelty free but not vegan. There is where I got confused. Under the FAQ 'Is the altruist vegan?' This is the answer: Given the interest in this issue we have investigated further and we know that the components are fully vegan except for Xanthan Gum as there are enzymes used during a fermentation process to get Xanthan Gum. The typical production process of Xanthan uses Iysozyme derived from the egg white of chicken eggs. altruistsun.com/faqs/ I now think is just how I feel about using Xanathan Gum derived from animals. Not too much cruelty free, but I guess the law admits it and that makes the product just not vegan :(. Thanks for the feedback!
Hi hun, I love the fomulation but its been pulled from sale so i doubt its the right SPF, I would use it in the winter months when the sun is low... sending you lots of love xxxx
Hi hun, they do indeed by the issue isnt in shipping to mainland china but selling in mainland china which is when they have to test on animals and one of the main reasons that Chinas policy is so ridiculous... sending you lots of love xxxx
I love the Elta so thats a great one to add to the list and I am so glad the P20 is working for you but I know what you mean about the cast... sending you lots of love xxxx
