Slow is pro and there is no shame to do it again and again if necessary. Better this attitude than trying to fix a wrong angle into that channel and breeze and risking millions in damage. Well done Cap.
Waaaay too narrow a slip for that boat. I applaud about midway through when the wind grabbed his bow and he just let the vessel swing downwind and start over. Most would fight it to “save” the approach, but a good skipper finds no fault with a do-over!
i went throught the same crap last sunday, except shouty father, shouty passengers, and shouty people watching from the boardwalk.. people need to learn to stay quiet and let the captain focus!!! 😂 not to mention the fact that the boat had no bow or stern thrusters 😂
@@ItsLanceBoyer yes. An experienced Capt should be able to dock a boat with a single engine and a hull. Two engines make it easy and a bow thruster is just an extra luxury.
@Andreas K. you don't have to be a trans atlantic sailor to know basic skills... Any experienced Capt should know how to handle these conditions. I'm not alone here.
What would you people do without bow thrusters?. His first attempt was definitely asking for trouble where the bow is so light compared to the rest of the boat. At least though he took his time and didn’t do any damage. I cringe sometimes watching people bringing in hugely expensive boats and they can’t drive them.
Med mooring is a pain! Often an accident waiting to happen. That guy did as good job considering. He’s lucky that his thrusters didn’t overheat and shut down. Man, lines everywhere of the bows. What a zoo.
He was trying the right things, it was just an impossible situation. No one, no matter how experienced, should have tried to dock in that situation. A little wisdom would have been better. If I were the captain, I would have said "sorry, friends, we are not going to dock today" and I would have left and dropped anchor in some nearby cove or some such until the weather became better.
@@xs10z i would not agree, i have my boat in the same dock like these sunseeker, just 10 boats left hand side, same situation 2 month before i come in with broken BowThruster neeeded to handle it more less only with the engines. it was possible. but i had a second try after i found out the bowthruster is not working. and what you wanna do, if you come back to the marina, under these condition. what you one do ? leave your boat on the sea...
