Going back years ago the Western end of the Island got burnt out, a lot of the locals said the rivers in the national park had boiled Marron in them. No doubt the same happened in the last bushfires over there, I might have to head there next year and have a look and a film.

I don't know if your still on the island but if you are and you want to chase some squid on a yak launch at Baudin Beach boat ramp and kayak a few hundred metres to the left and about 75-100m and you will catch plenty of squid.

Nice video mate. You'll find in places like that, what happens on the land can drastically affect what happens in the water. The run-off plays a big part in the water quality as well as the food for the fish. Species like bream are often the first to come back or remain longer than others because of their general toughness and they'll eat just about anything. Short term, hope the water flushes out and turns over so the ash has less effect. Long term, lots and lots of rain is needed to really push all of the ash and contaminants through the system and out. Now I have to go and figure out how to mount a rod holder on my kids SUP.

nice relaxing paddle is good for the soul ! But, ah mate it hasn't all died. The regrowth you see at the bottom of the gums are Natives, and those sticky looking burnt ones with no regrowth are generally woody weeds and not natives.

Looks nice and quiet wherever you are mate, how far inland is this. Have you found anything other than bream in there?
