The high school band from Van, Texas would make an annual trip to Memphis to march in the King Cotton Parade. This is the 1972 band trip. I didn't go on this trip or take any of the footage shown here, but my sister was a twirler and my mom went along. They took turns filming during the trip.

Ya gotta love it. A high school band who's trip and appearance in a parade was sponsored by Johnny Walker.🥂 As I was watching this I'm wondering if the calm feeling I have has something to do with the 8mm format or if it's watching high schoolers taking and posing for film for the sheer sake of memories without any of that social media anxiety we've heard so much about. Ah well, either way, those were the good old days.
