Jadedcobalt Gildedjade The funnier thing to me was the initial reaction, to the machine gun armed wagon in the beginning. That's not actually as anachronistic as they thought at the time of the stream. The forerunner of the modern machine gun, the gatling gun, was developed in 1862 and saw use through the 1870's during the US Civil War, the Boshin War over in Japan, as well as the Anglo-Zulu War over in South Africa. The boss even looked like a cart with a hand cranked gatling on it.

Gatling guns, as far as I know, were not in very high use by either side during the American Civil War, which ended in the mid 1860's, not the 1870's. They did, however, see extensive use in American 'wars' against various native Plains tribes. You were right about the Anglo-Zulu and Japanese Boshin wars, though. I believe the Belgians also developed early machine guns, which the infant German Empire was very keen on developing and using later on.

You could tell how far the lag was because Jon would say stuff like "I got an AK-47" and they would go "You got a WHAT?" and then they would laugh about 5 seconds later when they finally saw it themselves.. but it was still perfect.

Lets be honest, Chuggaa surviving the coyotes was so awesome, although I guess we have to give Jon the credit for that one (well, along with some of chuggaa's godly luck ending the segments milliseconds before death multiple times)

the falcon is pretty much objectively the best weapon. I've only ever beaten the game with the wild, because it starts with the falcon. Also, the desert is never the right choice. But you have to go there for the alien wagon.

I remember one of my classmates brought in a very old computer monitor with the Oregon Trail on it, and four of us ran through it... long story short, someone shot WAY too many oxen at a time wasting so much food, everyone was bitten multiple times by rattlesnakes, and the random wild berries were a deus ex machina. I loved that

Man there's a lot more folks than I expected who didn't know about this game. I got this on 360 for a buck and 100%'d it - the single most value I've ever gotten out of a dollar lol I'm amazed you got the orbital jump AND dino island on the first run - sounded like it clinched the deal for both Tom and Gex!

Oh man, I was just curious about the actual differences between the wagons, and I accidentally found the best wagon in the game, unlocked by beating the game as all wagons. I dunno if I want to spoil it, it's a really good one.
