Them using Omikron as a prime example of bad game design is just natural after it singlehandedly kickstarted the final, climactic phase of the Dark Garb-Age of the Zaibatsu, almost destroyed the channel, killed Liam, and forced Matt into a vacation hiatus to heal from the psychological damage he got from it.
Cage has a way of writing everything to seem as mysterious and as full of as possibilities as can be during a first, blind playthrough of his games, as he seems to think that's the only _true_ way to experience a story. This is why his stories fall apart so hard on repeat playthroughs and thorough multi-thread examinations - because some writing elements exist only as mystery-dressing and just go nowhere. Audience emotional reaction to what is happening in-the-moment is the only result that he cares about. In this way, he's like the philosophical opposite of Bertolt Brecht.

David Cage is the Zack Snyder of Games, it looks nice but it means nothing and he doesn't understand the subject matter that he think he knows by trying to make it and failing.
This has probably been said in this community before but I'll say it in case it hasn't. David Cage strikes me as the kind of director who, when an inspiration comes to mind, immediately runs to his team and goes "I have this awesome idea, and I want you to make this NOW." And when asked how it connects to what's already been done, where it eventually goes or hasn't it been done before in a movie or other form of media, David Cage ignores the question and goes back to taking a nap or play with his toys. Or he tells the team just do it and he'll come up with something later, only later never comes and QD is forced to bandaid everything together.
I actually agree with Woolie. If you could just get the base idea for a game from David Cage, and keep him as far away from the game as possible, you could actually make a decent game, because his base ideas are actually decent when you break each of his games down to just the premise. He just can't do literally anything else other than Premises. I HEAVILY DOUBT it will be this one that is good though.

Dragonage2ftw I mean it's not hard to not mess up something when you do nothing with it. So yeah I guess Yang got it easy, hopefully she gets something next season though. Honestly as someone who was there day 1 when the show started and enjoyed it for what it was, I still don't know how it became popular, like I don't hate it or anything but it never truly wowed me and always felt like It had potential but never did anything with it. So it's weird how big it is now when it doesn't feel any different from it's humble beginnings. Which is cool, but I hope it starts getting better than it is, not that it's bad, but just very plain and simple I guess.

How do they fix a boat Load of problems for this character that are all set up as obstacles in the span of six episodes? Just act like none of it ever happened cause we only got twelve episodes and we gotta force everyone into one place by the end just to make the set up. I mean it's not like anyone wants to watch a character at home overcome very real life issues and get better over a span of time right? Now let's move onto working on Weiss by having her entire arc be stuck at home overcoming fairly real life obstacles and bettering herself. Oh...yeah. they literally use the excuse of just focusing on Yang getting better and actually overcoming a struggle at home as being too boring while simultaneously doing exactly that for Weiss. It was pretty insulting. The series has it's flaws for sure but it's always had a sort of charm to me, and Volume 3 was probably the pinnacle of its writing. After that you'd be better off watching Chibi since it has a writer from Disney doing skits on it and the best parts of Volume 4 are the Qrow VS Tyrian fight, arguably the best of the entire series, and certain side character backstory. And V5 is just one giant dumpster fire to throw all expectations into to begin with. I mean, even the trailers for V5 had more effort put into the animation than the majority of the Volume as a whole.

She learns to control her anger, chooses to run instead of fight in a pivotal moment, and then talks Raven out of the special object they want. Which is good character development from her old mindset of just "Lets punch this thing until we win." Everyone else, though.... Cinder regressing back to being a boring quote on quote "mysterious" antagonist was stupid and her not going after the character she had an established grudge against is the dumbest, Ruby's one of the worst protagonists I've ever seen, the silver eye thing is just as much of a BS Deus Ex Machina copout as ever and still hasn't been explained, Oz's entire plot is dumb as fuck because they want to make him seem evil while also instantly shooting down him being wrong in any situation at all, Hazel's motivations are just dumb, Blake's entire arc meant nothing and was one giant waste of time, Weiss is ruined as a character for me because fuck that stuck-up bitch for throwing a fit during a charity auction TO SAVE PEOPLE'S LIVES because ONE GUY had a politically incorrect opinion and then having the balls to demand to remain in line for the company after attempted murder in broad daylight, Raven's an idiot as specifically proven by Yang, Qrow is the most useless thing ever along with all the other main characters who are just background fodder now, Jaune can suck a dick because his arc is weak as heck, he sucks as a character, and his personality's bland but somehow he's still getting the big power ups and being treated like he's the main hero of the entire franchise....... *inhale* Mercury's one of the biggest dropped balls ever because we know literally nothing about him, Emerald's criminally shafted despite being one of the only actual characters left but even then she's fairly inconsistent, at least Lionheart stuck to what his character is but it's Lionheart so who cares, Tyrian's not interesting enough to fully pull off his insane henchman thing, Salem couldn't be more of a dull presence since she's way too simple and her entire motivations are just "I'm evil so I do the bad things", and I hope nobody cared about the teachers or Velvet or the other students because they're just gone from the plot, and I think that covers everyone outside of the guys in Blake's plot who just didn't matter or might matter later but the only one with any actual focus is Illia because she's gay, but sorry RWBY, just making someone a lesbian doesn't make them interesting and I'm legitimately also not falling for it because I don't believe for a second that you actually have the balls to follow through on any LBGT couple in any way at all, much less make their relationship actually interesting. Also, Adam was a thing. He was a jealous whiny asshole. That is all that needs to be said about Adam as a supposedly "threatening" antagonist.
dracocrusher look at how quickly they jumped to all that Yang stuff that was pretty much already her mindset because they chose to create an issue that would save time by immediately solving rather than develop on the existing ones. Her fighting style hasn't changed except she uses her semblance less than she already did before which was the bare minimum and it actively makes shit worse for actually fighting someone above the level of Roman or base nameless jobber who would be a threat. She runs from a fight via following orders which isn't really different from before cause she's always been the one who will just put others before herself, and she talks her mom out of taking a relic by saying the most obvious shit about how it's the worst idea possible. Literally anyone with a thought process could have done it at that point, not that Yang was never the middle man voice of reason in the show. No. They fucked her up bad and it's clear at this rate that they won't do anything to bridge the gap between the points to make her a better character again. It's bad enough that rather than make everyone else on the teen mc roster get better at fighting to catch up with her and be on her level of skill, they actively made pretty much everyone including her ninety percent weaker than how they were portrayed easily. It's so bad that you could not only take Yang, but just about any character from a Volume 3 variation and they'd completely mop the halls with the entire Volume 5 cast sans Raven and Cinder. Even Qrow got turned into a complete job Lord. FUCKING Qrow, who had the arguably coolest and best fight of the series one volume prior and showed to potentially be one of if not the strongest character. Meanwhile V4 and V5 Yang just takes that advice about not using her semblance she rarely ever uses to begin with too closely and then just pretty much tposes as a punching bag for that entire ballroom blitz rather than have something similar to the Neo fight where she's doing her damndest, but whereas she could barely take Mercury on her own, she's getting double teamed by him and Emerald the life ruining liar so it's becoming a sort of fighting an unwinnable battle. Then Ruby jumps in and they don't have some cool turnaround evened out fight, no, the bitch that doesn't even know how to throw a punch right gets a hit on the master assassin with the most telegraphed and physically weak ass type of headbutt imaginable. If it was that easy that she could do it it destroys all plausibility of the fight Yang had with Mercury as well as the idea that he would be anything close to a threat to ANYONE there. Like they really should make a miniseries like they did for RVB to tell side stories and fix a lot of the shit they did to minorly fuck up Yang. That and or just have Volume revamps of 4 and 5 with added episodes and reworked on the animation so that overly large budget is utilized to actually make all the fights look as good as Raven and Cinder, and actually give certain characters like Yang some much needed spotlight of attention to make it actually seem realistic that she'd leave the house all of a sudden after accomplishing nothing aside from beating the shit out of the biggest idiot of a terrible dad RT views as the ideal father figure over someone like Ghira with the shittiest advice to give to your own daughter rather than her teammates who can never STOP relying on their semblance and it causes them to get fucking bodied, looking at you Weiss. Honestly though considering the fanbases over forgiving nature to the point only aggressive criticism has reached the creators, and their dismissal of it as not listening cause it's just bullying. My hopes for them fixing anything related to the series let alone the collosal fuck up of Yang's entire character and recovery arc, my hopes are fucking dashed. It's pretty goddamn bad when a fan fiction can pay more attention to the set up of Volume 3 and what it meant to a main character than the actual writers did. Which is why they should also just get the guy from Chibi to write for the main series cause at least then someone could proofread their shit before it shipped.

Okay. Few things. Firstly, it’s super arrogant of them to keep claiming that people got “fooled” into liking David’s games. Because fuck other opinions, I guess. Secondly, they’re super wrong about David getting less control as time goes on. He actually had the least amount of control in Beyond, with Indigo being second. With Beyond, Sony forced David to, firstly, completely change the script by adding in the army subplots (He later went on to say that they won’t fund his games if there’s no intense action scenes in them), turning it from a game about a girl connected to a ghost trying to live a normal, peaceful life to that weird hybrid plot, which led to Sony also forcing him to make the plot not linear, for reasons unknown (Some people speculate that if the game was made linear, the game would become too backloaded with action scenes.) So, really, that game was almost NOTHING like how David wanted it. Indigo Prophecy had a similar issue. Sony promised him a bunch of money, while “reserving the right to take some of it away if they lost faith in the project”. David tried to make the game’s scenes out of order to prevent this, so that he could claim that he needed the rest of the money so that the end product would make sense, but Sony pulled a bunch of his funding out from under his feet anyways. They also forced him to make a “Shaq-esque comic relief character”, which led to Tyler, which further diluted the writing. Heavy Rain was the one that debatably got the least tampered with, but it DID get a bunch of scenes cut, and they also told him that he wasn’t allowed to make the “bonus character episodes DLC” that were planned, as Sony forced him to use the money to put PlayStation Move support in the game. (Remember that hunk of shit? I sure do.) How much of Detroit was tampered with, we cannot say yet. But, please. Stop spreading lies, guys.
By the by- to give you an idea of how much they cut? The original Indigo Prophecy was supposed to be a 4-disk game, styled like a TV mini-series. Indigo Prophecy is now a 1 disk game with no TV style. Yeah. Real dick move by Sony.
Also, them saying they “tried to be fair to Beyond” is beyond laughable (pun unintended.) Their FIRST EPISODE had them overlook a bunch of shit, laugh at unfunny scenes, and be overall douchebags.
Yeah, Kojima knows he's making a video game, and wants the people to enjoy themselves. Cage never puts the player in mind. He makes "games" that involve no gameplay and hopes will make you sad. David Cage has never designed a game mechanic in his entire career, yet he is still called a game designer... and nobody ever points this out.
If you put your bias aside you can replace "cage" with kojima in what you just said and be absolutely right to a certain degree. Also good gameplay doesn't just fall on kojima, he had an entire team. His faults as a writer are very apparent and he makes the same "mistakes" that cage does yet doesn't get called out.

My favorite part of this conversation might be that Pat, immediately after claiming that they were super fair to Beyond, says he knows he'll be unable to be fair/"reset to zero" to/for Detroit, because he knows the formula. But they talked in depth at the end of IP about how transparent the formula was after Heavy Rain, so it's not as if they "could" have been fair to Beyond.
