SUPER BUDGET! Gool RC ESC COMBO: Initial Impressions 

My experiences w a few goolrc products were miserable. This is a polite way of calling them junk.

I agree with the ESC hitting the Low Voltage Cutoff. That is a really small battery; unable to handle the "burst" current when punching the throttle. Put one of these setups in my wife's old school E Maxx and it runs great (with 5000 MAH Lipos.). I am waiting for a programming card to raise the start mode because it struggles when starting to roll in tall grass. Get the programming card that has all the programming parameters as outlined on the instructions. Happy bashing!

Tick, that is called a brown out. Your drawing more Amperage from the battery then it can sustain. That little battery isnt enough to power that KV of a motor at that RPM plus powering a servo that is always drawing current. That is what I think is going on. Look at the C rating on the battery.

Make an esc mount plate for where the factory esc screwed in, then stick it on there with double sided tape. It is likely hitting low voltage cutoff. That is a very small battery, so when you are giving it throttle voltage is dropping below long enough for it to cutoff. You really need a 3000mah lipo or higher. I run 5200-8500mah in my slashes.

Had my Goolrc combo for 5+ years now. Been really good system. I do suggest Nimh batteries first to do a kinda break in. Then move to 2s. I think most folks call them junk because they go straight to the 3s and fry them instantly. Its like "Hey! what do ya expect?".

Turn on controller,pull throttle all the way. Turn on the speed control as you hold the throttle and wait for ten seconds and let off. I have the same setup,you need matching gool rc program card as well. It will help with cogging.

Seems like a power issue. Verify if the battery is balance charged? I had this issue and even was stuck at half power with a full charge battery. I ended up discharging and balance charging and its been fine since. The battery you are using is a decent crawler battery however Zee has a decent 5200mah 7.4v 2cell for about $20 USD on ebay.

Mine did basically the same thing. But it worked for about 10min with severe cogging and a noticeable dead spot at half throttle. Tried messing with start settings and lowering battery voltage settings. Then the program card quit. Followed by the Esc complete failure. Installed a surpass 60a Esc, worked fine , still running

When you have it turned "on" and the throttle decides to cut out. Try to adjust the throttle trim up until it starts to roll. Then slowly trim it back down to neutral. This might work as I have had this issue and this was the solution for me. It's a hassle because I have to do it every time I turn on the RC. But it does what I need it to do for budget electronics. And when you find the solution, it still makes the price for it a good deal.

Had the same issue, but mine turned out to be the reciever that was the issue. The esc was not recognizing the reciever for a traxxas radio. Once I changed to a different radio and reciever it cleared up.

I just bought a combo myself. Can't get it to work as the ESC is always on (off switch doesn't work) so I can't turn it on to set up. I'll watch your next vid to see how you sorted it out.

I have recent bought this and the ESC and motor are good for 20 minute run and then die. This only uses 2 S abt regardless that ESC says otherwise. The instructions inside state only 2S batteries. The 3 replacements gave out which is a shame. Seemed great the first 12 minutes and then stutters and goes haywire. Unfortunately had to return everything. The ESC and motor with the Black wiring lasted more than the color coordinated ones. Bought the set for $37 and apparently the upgraded version now is purple instead of the orange

It's your battery you need a bigger battery for the bigger stuff

Maybe try calibrating the esc to know the end points of the transmitter.

I did this you have to unplug the battery a few times until it restarts and then turn your throttle trim the light on the ESC will turn on and then off and then it will work

Seems like its the battery. Did you check the battery voltage after to see if it drained?

It's because it's trying to start at full power you need to turn your throttle trim to where the ESC will stop

I had this exact same setup the motor is fabulous in perfmoring but the computer is so cheaply made I put a 3s 11.1v battery innit played with it for 15min the computer caught on fire and started smoking thankfully I was able to save the rc car and now I’m running a hobbywing quicrun wp 8bl150 g2 and hobbywing quicrun 4274sl 2000kv black g2 motor

Turn on switch on unplug the battery plug it back in and then turn your throttle trim until it beeps differently

New subscriber here. That is pulling more amperage than that battery can handle

You have to unplug the ESC from the transmitter to reset it

May have to get a high C rating on your 2s batteries or just run 3s.

Yeah battery is too weak for esc. Also, for future reference and for anyone else, with brushless motors, just swap any 2 motor wires. So example, swap red and yellow connections. This will fix the fwd/rvs issue.

Do you know how many turns this motor is?

Try turning your throttle trim to 0 on your transmitter

Bro it's the throttle trim turn the car on turn your remote on and then dial your throttle trim until the ESC beeps different beep

Probably the ESC needs to be calibrated to your transmitter.

How do you waterproof a cooling fan?

I am.....just wow. WOW!!!!! You're luck that micro battery didn't go supernova and turn you house into a black hole!!!!!! Real life equivalent or trying to run a real car off 3 AA batteries.
