At 27:20 you can see the town where Simon starts his journey located in an opening of the forest. Also, that forest would be the 2nd level and from that level, you can see Castle Dracula at some point. Besides the dark atmosphere and gothic inspiration, the developers of Dark Souls must have learned how to craft an intertwined world full of cohesive, believable geography by playing this game. Super Castlevania IV is full of these amazing storytelling details.
I sat through this entire video and I couldn't keep my eyes off for one second. This was an amazing run and I'm sure there's improvement that can be done but nonetheless bravo!
Fantastic speedrun for one of my favorite games of all time. I didn’t realize the Japanese version had actual blood flowing in the torture room. Another example where SNES were censored at the time.
So I've been examining your run, specifically 6 and 9, trying to find the errors you mention, and I'm pretty sure I've spotted one definite mistake in 6 where you get hit by one of the axe throwing guys but instead of it being a damage boost, it's just damage, meaning it propelled you backward instead of forward. In 9, I couldn't really see any major mistakes other than minute time losses like a sixth of a second here, a fourth of a second there, stuff like that. Overall though nearly perfect. Anyway just thought I'd share. SCV4 is my favorite video game of all time and I've probably watched this run more than any other out of sheer awe at the skill. Congratulations.
Thanks :) You are correct about the Stage 6 error, but this error also caused me to not take the damage boost at 15:18. Overall both time losses amount to 1.5 seconds. In Stage 9 at 22:04 I miss jumping off the stairs which lost almost 1 second. In the boss room of Stage 9, I miss jumping onto the stairs (where I grab the small health refill) which lost 1 second. Phase 1 of the boss fight lost about 40 frames due to not getting the 22nd hit on the bat on the swoop downward. Hope this clears it up.
@@JoeDamillioSR Yes, I see now. I'll have to watch it again to see if I can catch what you've explained. However, if not for these losses, I would say the run is virtually perfect. Unless there's some unknown glitch yet to be discovered, it doesn't seem possible for a better run. And that's amazing. I've watched many many speedruns and there's yet to be a single one that cannot be improved upon. But this run, seems to come dauntingly close. Congrats again.
But sometimes it’s faster to take the hit and some hits set up another time saving trick. The bat trick on the final part of stage three is a huge time saving bonus.
Congrats on cutting the 31:30 Joe! Amazing run! Had me sweating on 3-3 with the sword skeletons at the end. Clutched the Koranot fight, and the early orb. Had my doubts it was really you playing since 5 gave you no harpee trouble. ;) Your six with the phantom dancers approaching the boss was flawless. 7-1 axe boost! Your 8 was godly. You’re doing the pixel jump in 9-2 now. Scary. Your tweaks in A are unbelievable. Then your ascent in B blew me away! Great final four. Well done, my friend!
First off best video game ever period, second off great to see a legit speed run unlike 95 per cent of speed runners who cheat with tool assist or PC mods great stuff well done 👍
