Really just love the irony of Praetorian calling out the crew on being useless without their powers when he literally has a power for any situation. With gladiator though he is completely genuine about it since he obviously trained in martial arts and how to best use his enhanced body
It's because Praetorean has super strength and the anti super power system didn't supressed his natural strength, just like Gladiator. The very reason he said that was because they are all weak without their powers, they didn't have super human strength like him and gladiator.
@@MrLangam that makes sense considering praetorian was shown to be able to have other people's powers. like when he used ghosts and the teleporting guys powers. its not too crazy to think that he also got gladiators powers too.
It’s kinda like this phrase my dad would say “Who would you fear most: a fighter who’s mastered 1,000 punches 1 time, or a fighter who’s mastered 1 punch 1,000 times?”
They actually cutted the scene.. he got already beaten up and didn t show him handicapped not satisfying at all bad writing everybody gets gore death and bloody but he just nose bleeding…
@@oliverkat did you not hear the part where he said he’s going to have “some” brain damage. there is a massive fucking indentation in a steal bunker wall where his skull went up against. bro will be permanently brain damaged for life. also the writing was pretty good when it came to his character as he isn’t even mentioned in the end, fitting with how trash like him don’t even deserve any kind of ending good or bad, his entire existence forgotten by all
@@jeffnubert8773 yeah i kinda wanted to see it btw the thing i hated the most is how the main character repeats the same mistake more and more times wasting years of life his and his girlfriend’s for example letting her alone at the wedding
@@jeffnubert8773 didn't they show him look at his birthday gift at the end and it was a picture of all the villains? Or are u talking about something else lol
@@thecrew6103 they dressed as members of the network, that was the whole point of them wearing those costumes, basically making the Bastard’s former lieutenants the fall guys.
@aragonmoralesfaustodavid5548 I think gladiator dud this on purpose and knew he could justify it easily enough. Not a case of writers ignoring the situation but obviously using it as the conclusion
We have anime shows influenced by western Superhero comics like BNHA and OPM but this is an actual western comic brought to life via anime and all I can say is, they did a great job. The great animation you can get from an anime studio paired with the more western aesthetic. Like I really f*ckin love how the characters look and how they were animated. I wish more shows like this would be produced.
@@vince4072 I think rather than inspired, it's a direct spinoff. But still, the source material "Supercrooks" is a comic book series also by Mark Millar iirc.
It's funny that the "villains" seem to have more respect for human life than the "heroes" ... The Praetorian and the rubber ball guy in the beginning killed most people
@@tylergast6824 yep. Gladiator is actually really serious about being a hero, He also hate Praetorian because of his corruption affecting his reputation as well. His only flaw was that he was cheating on his wife with multiple men.
They really should have just made Jupiter's Legacy an animated series. It would have still been around, but now it's cancelled. Maybe if this does well, they'll make it an anime
@@oguzgurses9775 it’s considered jupiters legacy for now, atleast that’s what they’re going by on the wiki for it creator may release a name for it if they continue the series
@@oguzgurses9775 Fandom considers it as the "Millarworld Cinematic Universe" because he's the writer of Jupiter's Legacy and many other comics that all tie into the same world. This series is based off of the comic "Supercrooks: The Heist" too written by Millar.
Supercrooks is getting a live action adaptation. I guess they could reuse actors from jupiter's legacy to reprise their roles. I hope its a new story and not a repeat of the anime.
Gladiator is so tough and has trained to maximize his power's effectiveness that it absolutely trumped all of praetorians' powers. Quality > Quantity baby
@@calmtree6521 That's totally correct that praetorian couldn't use his other powers, but I personally think that gladiator would have kicked his ass either way. Praetorian got off on beating up people he saw beneath him, he didn't want any part of someone near his power level, where Gladiator was always up for a fight, no matter the odds (as far as we see in the show at least).
Besides the big twist at the end, this has to be my favorite scene of the show. After seeing the Praetorian act like a high and mighty jerk for 13 episodes, it was extremely satisfying to see him get the absolute shit beaten out of him.
“I’m so sorry-“ yeah I bet you were after getting that whole beating lol. Him revealing he was gladiator to praetorian was my favourite part of the episode
Yeah, you can tell how scared Praetorian was when he tried to beg to Gladiator before taking a swing at him. And you can tell Gladiator took GREAT pleasure in doing what he did to Praetorian, especially giving him brain damage as well as how he said "I'm a *REAL* superhero, you asshole!" when he revealed himself to him.
God I love the Jupiter’s Circle/Legacy universe and Super Crooks is the perfect spin-off. This Anime blew my mind all 12 episodes. I really love how the first 8 were lead up to the Heist. Perfect execution. Hopefully this stuff gets more attention!
Hopefully Netflix gives Jupiter's Legacy another chance and calls up this studio. Not everyone needs an MCU, or every publisher a ongoing cinematic universe but I think Millerworld could REALLY stand out if they went with this. The perfect FUSION of Western Comic Books and Anime.
@@goobiedoobi Then the bud would be lucky to slur out a couple of words. Frontal Lobe is in charge of voluntary movement, expressive language and for managing higher level executive functions. His intelligence would drop to a turnip if its bad.
Ehhhhh. The voice acting sounds like the same person for all the male characters. The Heat looks like Larry David, but sounds like some young guy trying to sound like an old guy.
@@Mucrush Personally, I think the sub over the American theme feels like Japan is paying homage to western comics. It's more charming subbed. Dubbed feels like we accepted a really high quality present from Japan, said it was trash, took it apart and morphed it to be like the rest of our average material.
The Gladiator is such a badass and one of my favorite characters from Millarworld. Had no idea he was gay until they blackmailed him, even after seeing him sunbathing with his partner at the beggining of the series i still didnt realize it lol. Good writing.
I love Gladiator, too. My best bro suggested the series to me because of him because I'm gay. (I know, right?) Random aside, I was watching another show and they brought up the word "partner" and I had to laugh cuz I kinda feel the same. They were asked if they had a partner and they were like, "What? Ew. No, I'm not running a f*cking business with anyone." Not offended by the word just always laughed at it.
Finished watching this show and I really like how they wrote Praetorian's character. He felt legitimately like a threat the main characters couldn't beat (until Gladiator stepped in of course).
@@QuanLovesGaming not really tho. Art style alone doesn't constitute something as anime. It comes down to the story, plot, characters and cultural influences that make up the show.
This fight gives me deja vu of a dream I had years ago, praetorian looked so familiar before the stubble and now I remember why. That dream had him get the shit kicked out of him like this episode.
This voice-acting is actually kinda good, out of the hundred or so different dubs I've given a try only like 5 or 6 of them were good, I really really love when localization teams and VA's actually have passion for their work
This is literally the most satisfying moment of the anime i was punching the air when this was happening because its good to see that bastard get his ass kicked
I’m just glad he had a really good happy ending where he is actually better off than before and still a hero. So many shows and stories of good heroes going totally bad, is good to see a happy ending
@@facundomontivero2299yeah but aside from that he is probably the most genuine hero and even though he was blackmailed to work for them it was ironically a blessing in disguise as that allow him to fix that problem of his.
This scene is great! It shows that praetorian is just a bully and dumb. He only fights people that are weaker than him! Also, he could be much, much more than matt's lapdog. That's why gladiator stands out so much in the fight.
yep, unfortunately praetorian suffers from gambit syndrome, pretty much a simple minded pretty boy who hides his lack of creativity and self worth by whoring himself out to people clearly beneath him and not making full use of his ridiculously OP powers
I love how they don't look like generic anime style characters. They have noses, their eyes aren't ginormous, characters have actually have jaws and mouths! 😃 I wish more modern day anime was done like this
The reason for this is because its adapted from a comic, not a manga. So it's not gonna take the traditional japanese art style when it has american origins.
The Japanese removed realism from their animation style as time went on, like you I much prefer that realistic, detailed art than the overly stylised "doll" looking designs they prefer now.
Amazon didn't invest much because they probably didn't expect it to be such a commercial success. I imagine they'll pour a lot more money into season 2
@@Man_Man002 What I trying to say is that the only satisfaction part of beating down this dude is on the last episode. You have to go through 12 episodes prior just for 2 minutes scene of this tho.
Ok to anyone who wants to make an abridged version of Super Crooks, I have a suggestion for how to handle Gladator; Make him the Team Fortress 2 Soldier. Trust me it'll be fucking hilarious.
@@carabe197 nah nah make him a German guy who befriends Soldier Gladiator and Soldier Gladiator gets all pissed cause he found out that Praetorian is actually a German.
Alright so his power is basically the incarnate of that D20 Grenade from Cursed Halo, I guess. He can't control what he'll get, but it does make him unpredictable, unless you happen to be Gladiator.
I got Homelander vibes watching Praetorian. He's a guy who thinks because he's got a multitude of powers,he's unbeatable. Yet all it takes is someone with one super power, but with many decades of training and conditioning their body. To put someone like him in their place.
I really like how Praetorian's super speed is portrayed at 1:21 and 1:47. It's like he doesn't have the control or the ability to react to the speed he can go, so he just kind of sets it up and lets it go.
