I'm thoroughly amazed at the flying but 10x more amazed at the age, time and money management you have achieved in your life. My life is the polar opposite of yours and I applaud you for your hobby and apparent ability to use that hobby to create a relaxing time for yourself. I'm in awe and this year I'm going to try and replicate at least 10-20% of what you do. Thanks for sharing.

@@aimlessdrive8723 Yeah because writing a paragraph is the exact same effort as a life you create for yourself. 😂😂 OP I wish you the best, bud. Give it all ya got!
@sgtdaye
@sgtdaye 2 года назад
@@Koji-888 I dunno.... Pilots usually examine an unprepped runway before making an actual attempt at landing. In fact, he even states that he examined the runway twice before making an approach. 2:10 I'm not sure which OP you're referring to, but the actual OP was admiring the pilots ability to go somewhere and "create" a relaxing environment for himself. Also, why do you think its 'your' beach? 🤣 The irony of calling a bush pilot arrogant, while calling a sand/rock bar "your beach" isn't lost on me at all lol.
@sgtdaye
@sgtdaye 2 года назад
@@Koji-888 None of what you just said makes any sense. 1) It is unlikely that you'll just have an experimental aircraft land on a mini beach where you and your family are. 2) As long as it is safe to land, he has just as much right to be there, as "you and your family" 3) OP was definitely admiring what is shown in the video, and your responses make me question whether you read anything he actually wrote, if at all. 4) All of your statements thus far have been pretty selfish to be honest... every other word is "me.... me... me...and my family" You're only guaranteed peace and quiet inside your private residence. My suggestion to you: stay there.

After ridding in a DeHavilland Twin Otter while being transported to my assigned duty station in Alaska I was captured by the spirit of flight---especially bush flying. I got my private ticket in the mid seventies. Being in south Louisiana there are not many opportunities for "bush" flying though. The Otter stopped at several Indian villages on the way to the radar site landing at what is best described as "unimproved" airstrips. It was in the spring and so the the landing areas were muddy and sloppy--only about 1800 feet of usable runway with trees at both ends. I was immediately fascinated by this type flying. This is REAL flying!! Your video are fabulous.

I have had jobs up here where I flew to places all over Alaska in all kinds of planes and helicopters. I’ve been to many of the LRRS sites and even though the runways are impoved, many are one way. One ends in a steep vertical mountain.I know of at least one site that there is an old military transport plane wrecked trying to go around.

By far my favorite video you've put out so far! Please keep sharing more of the whole adventure. I subscribed for all the Cub and STOL flying but keep coming back hoping for more. Watched every second of the floating downstream and fishing. I think the video shows EXTREMELY well how short and difficult the flying is! Can't even imagine flying that approach and planning for how to handle the scotchbroom. Be safe, and keep sharing your adventures!
