Not the finished but the superior Japan version Return Of Double Dragon. It was my favorite beat em up until I discovered the mind blowing Ultimate Double Dragon! Miles ahead of any beat em up. I did a video on it since the creator gave me the demo to try out before it was released you should need to check it out if you love these games. Also it's free!

ProjectGenesis, sadly, the game itself was an incomplete and half-hearted mess on BOTH sides of the Pacific Ocean, though, weirdly enough, aside from the Game Boy Advance game of Double Dragon Advance, its control scheme was the best in the series, even better than the original arcade trilogy.

+eraser101YT Seriously they could do amazing things with the technology and yet all the newer side scroller beat em ups are usually limited to two buttons with no moves.

Project Genesis That's true, it's nearly like some kind of conspiracy lol. If a company got it right and released a decent co-op side scroller fighter for mature gamers with online play, new technology, adult themes, a fully developed control scheme, realistic combat and an epic soundtrack (I would suggest Mick Gordon who does the Killer instinct music) it would do very well indeed. They could use the new KI engine as a starting point. Also I would love to see the same thing done for medieval period combat, these big developers really lack vision, either that or they have been castrated by political correctness and self censorship. It's too bad because indy developers often think outside the box but they don't have the resources to create games that are on the same scale as the big developers. People our age grew up seeing video game technology go through an amazingly fast evolution, the technology changed drastically every year. That boom is over, things slowed right down because of the limitations of silicon wafer processor design which has already been pushed to it's practical limits. I know I'm ranting and I have digressed but my point is that we were spoiled and we were lucky to experience such a rapid evolution in hardware and games. Even so it's not an excuse for video game developers to stagnate. The technology now is amazing, we have enough eye candy to last a lifetime and what we really need is a push to demand that big developers utilise it properly by focusing on the ideas which die hard gamers yearn for. How did we ever go from games like Super double dragon which had variations of punch, kick, jump block and charge up attacks to new games that are all visuals but reduce the player input to quicktime events or two buttons? I assume it has to do with money since that's really the bottom line. I don't have the answer, all I know is that something is seriously wrong with the status quo, there's a huge void that should be filled with some damn good games.

+Pax Humana Double Dragon Neon was so underwhelming in the move set which made me sad. Not even close to this game. The others I haven't played. Always wanted to play Cadillacs and Dinosaurs!

Chinedum Ahanotu Yeah I'm always in Drop D and on rare occasion Drop C. It's exactly the same as the rhythm guitar because I like my original version so much (that didn't have bass) I didn't want to change it other than the quality.

The tone I always shot for was the distortion from their album Revolutions Per Minute and yes I've been trying to find ways to add octave chords in lately. This game is a must dude! I have yet to play a beat em up game new or old that is as good as this one. The mechanics are so good especially for a super nintendo game!

ProjectGenesisMusic Yea I agree. A lot of people say that this game is bad and the reviews for this game are usually negative. But I grew up playing this game, and it is one of the best Beat'em Ups I have ever played.

Do it! I will say with confidence it is the best side scrolling beat em up game. The whole soundtrack is amazing with a few songs being throwbacks to the original NES game.

+Project Genesis A-ha. I see. But, those notes were carefully picked and timed though, because they still carried the same feel or message of the overall theme. They were just small alterations to show some of his own creativity. The solo he later adds in is also excellent. He hits all the right notes, expressing the romance - all the hard training and struggle of battle the Double Dragons have to endure through their long, heroic journey. That's what it's all about - bringing out the theme, bro.

My old version was just severely lacking dem palm mutes. It just felt right!
