patch came out great, l used the same drill bit for the church key but welded a vw gate hinge to it, project is moving along well, you should be cruisng by next spring.,

Another piece of precision fabrication, for which you have significant talent. Looking forward to seeing you work back from the front to where the beam attaches. This bus is going to be so strong. Preserving the gas door was obviously a labour of love and it looks killer.

Your fabrication skills are amazing. That is going to be a very strong pickle when it’s done. At least it got saved. Too many folks are ready to throw away vehicles, but they just need some time put into them. Great job my friend once again.

I'm thinking don't worry too much about the "line" on the little door...I have a feeling that one's eye is NOT going to go to that when, eventually, viewing this resurrected bus. All the best to you on moonlit nights, and other days and nights, too!!!

The logo stamped on the gas flap door is S.W. inside a heart is "Stanley Works" and being in a heart shaped logo is to commemorate William Heart for his long service with the company. This logo (known as the sweetheart) was used by this United States company from 1920 to 1935 on tools and hardware. How it ended up on a VW part from Germany might be an interesting story.

You are remembering correctly! There is a tear drop shaped cover for the church key lock mechanism. It should be spring loaded too so as to self close. Now, I could be remembering wrong but, I think that bend on the latch tab is supposed to be there.
