I love how your hands are the hands of a true hardworking gardener and homesteader. You are beautiful and feminine, but your hands show all your hard work, and that makes them very beautiful, in my opinion. Beautiful videos, thank you!
It had been a while since I saw Stewart pulling a couple shots, I still remember a few years back when he made coffee for you two and you sat out under your trellised patio sipping and having a nice conversation about your plans for the future. It's great to see those plans coming to fruition.
I seriously never thought about infusing oils but man have I been missing out. I really enjoyed the different colors of oils and the jars and their labels. Reminded me of an apothecary jars. Just so pretty. I guess I should be putting my Olive Oil in the fridge. Thankyou for taking us into your kitchen again. Shalom.
This empowered me to do something with my peppers that were just going to sit on my counter and dry up. Your videos have been helping me romanticize my life and that gives me more freedom to try. Thank y'all. . xoxo . . . .
I love the slow pace of this vlog and simple processes that produce wonderful results! I think these would make great homemade gifts especially with the added lable :)
I enjoyed the stroll through your garden while waiting for the oils to infuse...I would stuff a chicken with the rosemary and the garlic after it has infused in the oil.....or stuff them under the skin...Yum!!
I love the light in your kitchen in this video! I could really appreciate all of its gorgeous details. So so beautiful. And for the oils! Yum! Cannot wait to give this a try!
I was wondering where you’re coffee grinder came from? I love it! You always make everything so pretty and pleasing to the eye. I’m usually out in the garden in my pj’s and scary hair in the morning🤪
Two videos in the same week! It feels like Christmas! Love the skirt and shirt you’re wearing and your stove… you could probably shoot a video of only that stove and I would love it. I can’t wait until my gardens are all wild and grown in like yours . Until then I have a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to put into it!
Hey Shaye, when I had my Big Garden I made oils and Vinegars galore! With less room for bottles now I may make a couple of my favorites. Thanks for the reminder 💞. Im thinking Thyme and Basil🐦.
This video was such a feast for the eyes - the garden, your kitchen, your green and pink outfit (LOVE), and your husband making coffee. Haha - my husband woke me up with a cup of coffee this morning, and the first words out of my mouth were, "I love you." ;)
If you put a skewer or some type of stick into the jar that you were pouring into and four directly on the stick it will help keep the oil from dribbling down the pot that you were pouring from
En France, beaucoup d'huiles différentes sont utilisées et créent une déco reconnaissable ! Merci beaucoup de faire connaître ces chères recettes venues de nos grands parents 🇫🇷🙋♀️🍽🧡
I use the solar infusion method to make herbal infused oils. I find that when I try to heat them over the stove, even in a double boiler, they go rancid much faster than if I solar infuse them on a sunny windowsill for two to six weeks. You can even double infuse them, by straining out the herbs from the oil and adding new herbs to that oil, and letting it infuse for another two to six weeks on the windowsill. This works for all herbs, but I especially like it for oils that I use for topical applications, like lavender for bug bites and headaches, cannabis (best pain killer for sore muscles), calendula and yarrow for rashes and bruises, etc. Makes an amazing salve. I will try rosemary next for cooking. Thank you!
Hi the elliots I love the way you don't let nothing go to waste in your garden the oil's look lovely and I love the jars have you had that heatwave gosh them temperatures are are something else we're supposed to be having a heatwave in the UK next week oh well take care shaye love all your videos so calming♡
I love a lot of garlic and spice in my food! Flavor is the spice of life snd really like mine to carry a hood punch!😋 I love your garden and your so cozy home!
Thank you for a thoughtful & knowledgeable insight to infused oils the best I've seen on RU-vid👏👏👏 Kudos on the scientific side of your show on why bacteria happens. Gracias Cartagena Rum
All summer I have loads of Rosemary growing because we love to go pick it chop it up, add it to a really good Greek Kalamata olive oil, big twist of sea salt and dip bread in it. Everyone loves it we look so forward to it. So wow, I will definitely do this infused oil and have some for a bit of the winter from the sounds of it if stored in the fridge. I do dry it as well to enjoy in the oil as well over the winter, but this oil sounds delicious. I have garlic too....And I have loads of basil always to deter bad bugs and call good bugs. So that might be a wonderful oil to try as well. Enjoyed this as always :)
I love love this video. I grow little bit of thyme, roasmary, sage in my backyard and did try my hand at making infusion few days back. I am going to try again following your instructions again.
This looks easy and tasty. Will try. Friendly tip, if you leave the oil out on the counter you should store them in tainted glass. This will help preserve the oils. ❤️ I got hyssop in my garden. I make fresh Zaatar spread with toasted sesame seeds with it. Will try to infuse oil with it.
Wonderful execution of the entire video - perfect for relaxation and decompression time! Going to try some of these, thank you for the video. Your pour counter top tho ... LOL! (I hope you see what I did there)
I have been an herb gardener for many years, making skincreams, lotions, & tonics, I would love to know the variety of rosemary that you have in your french style garden 🤗 mines hardy unless we have a lot of snow, & WE DO! (Philadelphia, Pa) mine also gets periwinkle blue flowers on it all season..I to bring it inside every winter..I don't mind that, but if i could have a variety that would winter outside that would be awesome! BTW, you are a BEAUTIFUL WOMAN! ❤ Thanks, ANNEL 😘
Loved the video as always. Would love to know what variety of Rosemary that you grow. I’m in zone 4b. I did the same thing with a bunch of jam last year; forgot to label almost all of them and the only one I could tell by sight was the apple pie jam everything else was figure out when opened. My 10 yr old got kick out of it. He called my jams the mystery pick jams.
Thank you for the information, I loved the video! We must be neighbors if you live in Malaga Washington. We lived out past the airport in East Wenatchee for 10 years. Dour years ago we moved about 45 minutes away to live off grid ontop of Badger Mountain. Thanks again for the wonderful video.
You need to get a better pouring jug so that you don’t spill it which would make it a lot easier for you it was really a pleasure watching you do all this thank you
I always thought that infusing olive oil with garlic could be very very very dangerous as it can create some toxic substance or something. Please educate me on this matter, it's been in the back of my head and stopped me from infusing oils.
Infusing oils in this manner can create the perfect germination environment for botulism spores which can lead to botulism poisoning which can be fatal. Heating the oil DOES NOT kill botulism endospores. When the endospores are submerged in oil, it cuts out oxygen which is allows the spores to germinate, grow and produce toxin. The only way this method would be safe is if it is stored in the fridge where it's too cold for the spores to germinate.
@@annebiedenstein395 Yes, FRESH herbs. When dried, there is no water present and thus there is no concern if made and stored properly. Via University of Maine extension office. extension.umaine.edu/publications/4385e/ She used fresh garlic here, hence my concern.
Hi shay , wow I seen 2 videos today was so happy I love the little walk about in your beautiful garden sunflowers 🌻 are so pretty well all your flowers 💐 are also beautiful ... and you walking bare footed 🦶threw the fields.. 😄 love your outfit’.. Thanks for so much oil and herb inspiration have to try it... and those jars are a great size.. thanks for the videos bless you all..😘❤️
Please keep all your oils in the fridge. This method does NOT kill botulism endospores (you have to reach a temp of 240F to kill endospores) and the oil creates a perfect anaerobic environment for them to germinate.
Botulism cannot grow in the oil itself. It must have a watery media and since any water from the herb is removed from the simmer, it should be fine. See CDC reports.
"I need to keep a close eye on these oils while they simmer so they don't boil - THIS burner gets really hot!" *Strolls through the garden for the next 15 minutes*
WOW chef I am amazed at how easy you made it look I’ve been searching for a long time on making and storing good oil and I really like the container that you used is your oils for sale ? Although I would like to make my own for personal use and gifts I would love to try your selections. Thanks again God Blesses ✌🏾👍🏾🙏🏾
This would be good to try. I find the garlic imparts a pretty good about of flavor without pressing but it would be fun to experiment to see the difference.
