You know those glasses that allow colorblind people to see color? I dunno if they're available in the UK but it would be cool to see Jamie cooking with a bunch of colorful ingredients while wearing a pair of those.
Jean-Luc Walker No Jamie's actually colorblind. In their fruit gums video they pranked Jamie by giving him the green ones (the ones everyone hates) because he couldn't tell the difference.
Ben should have gotten that point tbh. That was a new wonderful dish that got the others going for second bite and Mike going for Salt Bae pose as he was eating it. The points being awarded for anything and everything this week....and he doesn't get a point for his garden breakfast? :(
here is a breakfast idea from Egypt. Eggs and basturma, fava beans and eggs and falafel. You get yourself some basturma, cut it up and fry for a few minutes; traditionally in ghee, but butter is close enough. You then crack a couple eggs a little bit of salt and pepper and enjoy. for the fava beans, you can just get a can, empty it out and warm it through for a good 5-7 mins and then add salt, pepper, cumin(key ingredient), olive oil, lemon juice and perhaps some diced peppers. All you need after that is adding some hard boiled eggs to it and smashing it together.
Y'know as much as i know that Native American recipes are hard to get, (especially for breakfast) I'd still liked to see you guys try to reinvent one of our traditional recipes for the modern world (although allot of our recipes have been modernized i.e. Cornbread, fishcakes, frybread) If i can provide some recipes from my family ill give you guys a message! But my granny is stubborn as always
vvendingo Once I had three sisters soup reinterpreted as dessert at this really fancy restaurant: corn custard, sweet pumpkin gratin, and some sort of red bean ice cream with mini fry bread puffs.
vvendingo what I hate about family members like that is that they would rather the traditions doe with them than share. idk how ego can be that important.
daisy heart well my grandmother received the recipes from her ancestors and she will be doing the same when she passes, i think it's more of keeping it traditional and non westernized since our family (specifically our ancestors) have not had a good time with westernization
I'm really loving these videos, guys. I've been watching Sorted for, I don't know, five and a half years? These was a little while in there last year and in 2015 where I felt like I'd lost the magic in your videos. The recipes were good, but I was getting less of you guys in them, and I wasn't really enjoying FridgeCam. I'm currently loving everything again, and back to watching every video -- even ones like these, where I'm mostly just sitting back and being amused because I'll put this out there: your Shakshuka is not better than mine ;) Seriously though, great content, great laughs, love the first & second takes being left in and it all feels generally more professional AND more chill, which is an epic mix.
In the Philippines, one of our most famous morning snack is warm taho. It's made of silken tofu, brown sugar syrup (arnibal) and tapioca pearls. I'm interested how you can level up this food. We only have one variety where arnibal is replaced with strawberry jam.
I still really enjoy watching your old videos, and this one with Barry learning the meaning of breakfast and Jamie learning about colours is my very favourite wholesome video 💗
Don't know, if you guys still read comments on your recipes from last year, but I just tried your Shakshuka Recipe and it's unbelievable good! Perfect for starting a healthy life after christmas again! Thanks a lot for your work on this channel (and thanks to the whole team working in the background!). It is inspiring to watch your content and I learn so much about general cooking and tasting processes from you! Keep up the good work!
A traditional Filipino breakfast might include pandesal (small bread rolls), kesong puti (white cheese), champorado (chocolate rice porridge), sinangag (garlic fried rice), and meat-such as tapa, longganisa, tocino, karne norte (corned beef), or fish such as daing na bangus (salted and dried milkfish)-or itlog na pula (salted duck eggs). Coffee is also commonly served particularly kapeng barako, a variety of coffee produced in the mountains of Batangas noted for having a strong flavor.
truly one of my favorite dishes.. my grandmother is Moroccan so I grew up eating a lot of shakshuka. this is a great version. in Israel we have ready made cooled shakshuka sauce in supermarkets and it's so good you cant tell it's bought. it's also the easiest dish ever if you make it so.. a simple one contains canned diced tomatoes, crushed garlic, tiny bit of cumin, oil, salt, pepper, chicken stock cube/powder, a little water, and eggs
This looks great! We usually don't have eggs Shakshuka-style for Breakfast where I live ^^ If it's not sunny side up eggs with plenty of olive oil, it would be eggs with khli' (dried salted mutton meat conserved in fat or oil). Not for the faint of heart, but delicious! Kisses from Morocco!
Apart from being the most important meal of the day, it also should be the fastest, because we're all half awake in the process of making it. What's the fastest and best breakfast to fill me up for a long time?
Fun fact, it is not the "most important meal of the day". This was invented as an ad in the mid 19th century by Kellogg, and then it skyrocketed. This is solely based on one guy saying something to promote his product and then market rode the wind. Google it. Even with that, it still is my favorite meal. And to answer your question, porridge is best, and can be done overnight easily
Meg.A. Byte well like he said porridge with berrys is the best breakfast in the world,(by the way the way the sorted guys did a porridge videos recently its pretty good)
Well, to seriously answer your question, proteins make you feel satisfied and fats will keep you feel full for a long time, where as carbs will make your blood sugar plummet and cause hunger quickly after eating. Therefore bacon and eggs, with tomato instead of bread, will really do the trick. A thin omelet roll filled with cooked chicken and avocado works too if you poached your chicken the day before and it is a little less calorie rich. If you don't have time to cook, you could prepare some chicken, boiled eggs and maybe even bacon (for the crunch) the night before, mix it with avocado, tomato, lettuce and a little bit of mayo, and you have a fast and very filling breakfast. Just some of my favorite easy recipes, I hope you enjoy them.
Griddle stickies! It's like a cinnamon roll meets french toast (without the egg batter) and a load of maple syrup or if you're a traditionalist it's a brown sugar butter sauce. They aren't just a breakfast specialty of Western Pennsylvania, slap some ice cream on top and you have a dessert dream!
Ben needs to come out of this Brownie Points competition as the victor, his food looks amazing, and the other three really do give him a hard time. He deserves a win.
We also eat Shakshuka in Israel. I had one yesterday for dinner. I make ( well my mum does), the best level-up Shakshuka. I use garlic , canned tomatoes , seasoning (like Ben used this recipe) and eggs ofcourse. Level up- add basil , pealed , sliced eggplant. ITS EVERYTHING !!!!!
That coriander fact was interesting! I absolutely couldn't stand the soapy taste a couple years back when I was in Costa Rica and they put it in EVERYTHING, but now I absolutely love it! Didn't know there was a gene involved, but if that's really the case, changing my mind about it seems rather weird haha
One for Jamie, Australian mixed grill. Big around the 50's and 60's but has resurfaced as part of Australia Day festivities. Yes it's breakfast and washed down with a beer of course.
How about, Sfenj. its a moroccon doughnut. Soo delicious. you just need flour, yeast, salt and water. Let it rise for about a half an hour to an hour. have a bowl with sunfloweroil ready. put a little oil on your hands and take a little ball of dough. then make a doughnut out of it and fry it immediately in sunflower oil. its done when its golden brown on each side. drizzle is with some honey and drink it with a cup of tea. Delicious! And super easy to make!
Mauritian breakfast: fresh baguette with butter and gateaux piments (which are essentially falafels made from split peas, ginger and spring onions). Drink some vanilla- flavoured local tea with that. Goes down a treat!
In Malaysia, the staple breakfast is Nasi Lemak. It's basically rice cooked in coconut milk and pandan with a side of thick sambal, hardboiled eggs, peanuts and cucumber. You can spice it up by adding other meat sides to it to make a filling breakfast.
Puri (deep fried puffy paratha), sooji halwa (semolina halwa), channa curry (chick pea curry) it cant get more street than that!! Ultimate Indian breakfast!!
Dominican breakfast! Salami, fried cheese, mangú (smashed plantains with garlic, butter and a drip of milk) with pickled red onions slathered over the plantains... ::: drooling::: serve with a fried egg (edges crispy please)
ooh, you should try a full spread, "down home" country (southern American) breakfast with all the fixins'... biscuits and gravy, french toast, pancakes and/or waffles, eggs (to choice), bacon and/or breakfast sausage, corn beef hash, hashbrowns, toast with either cinnamon butter or apple butter, fried apples, and banana bread! This is NOT an everyday breakfast, it's more for holidays and special occasions. One side of my family is very southern and I remember helping to make this breakfast for things like Christmas and family reunions when there would be a lot of mouths to feed in one home and lots of different breakfast favorites! My nanny (my grandmother) made everything as homemade as she could get it and it was always delicious... it's one meal I'll never forget. 😊
In Quebec... We have "cabane a sucre" sugar shack when translated and its during the maple syrup time (feb to march) One thing that we do, to add to the english breakfast are pork rinds, and Quebec pea soup... sounds nuts but is super popular.
Broke breakfast in Indonesia: Indomie Telor. Fast, cheap, delicious. Yea we broke people eat instant ramen as breakfast, and being very content about that. On a serious note, Indonesian best breakfast dish: Soto Ayam (yellow chicken soup thingy) and Ketupat Sayur (steam rice cake with other wonderful thing). 👌🏻
Love the big MORNING in ❤ Well done James 👏🏻 Please do a South African breakfast. Either mieliepap (ground maize, direct translation 'porridge') with milk, butter and sugar. 🇿🇦 Or you could make buttermilk rusks. We used to eat those in the mornings with coffee/tea when we visited some family on the plaas (farm) You guys are the best, keep it going 👌🏻
What happened to "butt first"? Found Sorted only a couple of weeks ago and have been plowing through Fridge Cam and Pass It On. So grateful for such a deep backlog.
Would love to finally see a Dutch recipe! In the south of the Netherlands, we have something called 'vlaai'. Basically it's a yeasted pie dough, filled with loads of fresh fruit or sometimes even rice pudding or custard! I mean... A sweet pie for breakfast ;).
