Love these types of special features. Noticed they didn't mentioned Wonder Woman's symbol change from the eagle to =w= first time in animation. Wish Shannon could have continued her voice or they could have had Lynda Carter voice Wonder Woman.
Cobra Commander, Toyman, Mxyzptlk he loaned his voice in some of the star wars computer games(Knights of the Old Republic). Frank Welker is who we are talking about here!
I almost feel sorry for the poor jaded souls (who worship Nolan and his sulking, brooding, grouchy-ass Batman from recent movies) who come to these videos and ashame themselves pretending to be tough guys by attacking and disrespecting the past. You just don't mess with Adam West. The release of the old TV series on DVD and Blu-Ray a couple years ago was HUGE. So was the "Batman '66" comic series and the recent "Return of the Caped Crusaders" animated feature. That proves people do WANT a (much needed) brighter and funnier Batman (who can still be serious and focused but not necessarily so damn dark). True... Keaton, Bale, Affleck and the rest of the lot are great... but Adam West IS Batman. PERIOD.
Kev Walthall LOL! You must be one heck of a Batman fan when you can't even spell Kevin C-O-N-R-O-Y's last name right! And I find your comparison silly and out of place because Conroy has only voiced the animated Batman while West and the others have actually donned the cowl and cape. (where did you get that 80% of "batman fans" anyways?) >.
+Kev Walthall OK, quick recap: 1.- You repeat my own words. Is that your idea of a badass comeback? Lame. 2.- I question your bad spelling (still have no idea who "conway" is and what a "fagget" is) and you throw a tantrum. Nice! 3.- You insult me just because. Angry much? 4.- You didn't answer my question: where did you get that "80% of batman fans" you babbled about? That's weasel-word talk and BS, nothing more! Now you have 2 options: You can a) Post another lame-ass reply like the one you put above and further prove my point and embarrass yourself, or b) Think before trying to look tough talking smack without any valid arguments. Merry Christmas!
Adam West is more well known and I am glad they used his voice for the revamp, but Olan Soule wasn't half bad and if you didn't see him as the "history professor" in this you'd think so too. I am glad they used Buster Jones for Brainiac perfect! that was also Black Vulcan's voice. And Constance Cawlfield has a Linda Carter-like voice that is very close to sounding exactly like her! I don't know why they switched to B.J. Ward in Justice. She did play the Princess Allura in Voltron. Still thought C.C. was better.
Cawlfield was chosen after Carter turned it down, and she has a similar pitch. But she did not speak like Carter nor Wonder Woman - her delivery sounded weak, sometimes gabby, and often damsel-like (i.e. her very first episode, where Kalibak subdues her, the MOAN she cries out sounds all kinds of wrong). Ward actually gave Wonder Woman her strength back - you could take her seriously again.
@NepperCat I actually preferred Adam West as Batman. It's not just that he actually played him in real life that lent weight. West's voice was much more intense and mysterious sounding than Soule. Olan Soule's Batman sounded more like a history professor instead of a dark avenger.
@pypeworld Good point. Now the next series, Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians, took a more serious tone. Batman did remain a friendly type character somewhat, yet at the same time, you saw some of the Dark Knight version in the character. That and other things are what made that my favorite version of the franchise.
It's wrong to say that the Batman of the live-action TV show was the Batman "of the time." Batman had been a "creature of the night" since the late 60's by the time the Super Powers show came around. And actually, though Adam West did the voice--and did it brilliantly--the version we saw in the show really was closer to the comic-book version than he was to the 60's TV show. We saw how focused, intense and driven he was time and again in Super Powers and we even got, for the first time, his tragic origin story in the all-time classic "The Fear."
Using Adam West as the voice of Batman brought back all the campiness of Batman. Hanna Barbera almost nailed the coffin shut on Batman with him being joyful and weak. And don't get me started on Robin.
Late reply I know, but you speak as if "campy" was a bad thing. Adam West returning to voice Batman on Saturday mornings was simply awesome. Oh, and joyful is not a bad thing (maybe for Nolanites everywhere tho), how was he weak in this? Please explain.
@TMC1982Part2 Soule ended up doing the voice of Prof. Stein/Firestorm this season. I didnt care for Adam West's voice for Bats because it was obvious he was still doing the silly live action version and Soule didnt sound as goofy.
I'm not a huge fan of this show, but if it weren't for it, there'd be no Justice League TAS/Justice League Unlimited. And the original line up for the Justice League TAS would've had Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Green Lantern (John Stewart), Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl. And would feature junior members which would be Robin(Tim Drake), Impulse and a female Cyborg (presumably Natasha Irons)
Why? he's as big of a DC fan as you can get, knows the history of DC like the back of his hand, most writers/artists have nothing but nice things to say about him, and he works non-stop for the company. My roommate met him a few months ago when he dropped in on Jim Lee's birthday party saying he was a cool guy who was a lot of fun, and if you ever listen to his podcasts and interviews, he really knows his stuff (sadly some of the best ones, Conversations of Convergence, are no longer on RU-vid).
@@CaptainMarvel4Ever he is not a fan of anything that happen in the 80's or after until he took over.......first all he cared about was bringing the silver age heroes back.....then when they weren't selling he de aged them and kept trying to get writers to reboot them....hates the teen titans...always tried to kill them off...wanted nightwing to die in infinite crisis but Geoff Johns fought against it....but it is he disrespect for the Wally West Flash legacy that will forever make him a scumbag in my eyes and no one will ever change that.....thanks for the comment. ..totally forgot about this one.....but I still stand by it
My word... you use... quite a few... ellipses... (hehe, don't mean anything by that, just havin a bit of fun) anyways, I'm personally not a fan of DC after the 80's myself, weather it was the dark age 90's or the bland early 2000's (though in the (90's and 2000's Conversations he did, he had Dan Jurgens and Greg Rucka to talk about his fondness and important DC events of that era). Frankly I think him, Grant Morrison, and Geoff Johns bringing back DC's most iconic and important heroes is a good thing (the fact that they were gone at all is personally upsetting to me). He did want Nighting to die, but not permanently (nobody ever dies permanently) and the fact that he was willing to listen to someone else and change it shows he's not unreasonable, and I severely doubt he hates the Teen Titans (even though i do agree they haven't been truly good since maybe the last Geoff Johns run). Wally West is back, so it's not like his legacy is gone. I understand he's well liked by a particular generation of fans, but ultimately on paper he doesn't stack up quite as well as Barry Allen in terms of character formula or impact on comics as a whole (not trying to be disrespectful or trash any Wally fans, just saying that from an objective standpoint). Besides it was mostly Johns and Morrison who instigated Barry's return. Personally I can't really see him having a direct impact on every single one of those things. It's easy to give into your Blame Instinct and pin everything you don't like on one person, but that's an extremely short sited and non factful thing to do, just directing all your misgivings at one guy who's just doing his job for a company he loves (trust me, you'd be surprised how many higher-ups in the comics industry don't even like comics).
@@CaptainMarvel4Ever sorry .....I stopped reading after you said Wally doesn't stack up to Barry......might have agreed if they kept his Crisis death.....but since his return all he did was made the new 52 ...which I hated....he also help mind wipe Batman..was the deciding vote for heroes to start mind wiping villians....oh yeah and wrote Wally a b/s letter asking him to clean up his mind wiping mess with the rouges. ......Wally is just better. ...and faster....and I am done kind sir
