You DO NOT apply superglue INTO a laceration wound. You apply the glue OVER the opposed edges of the wound, forming a glue structure which bridges OVER the wound, which holds the open edges together. Glue must not come into contact with the wound at all, as this would in fact prevent the wound edges from meeting each other and therefore actually hinder the healing.

Done this many times as a mechanic, even better is afterward put glue over it and put a layer of tissue, do it a few times and you'll have a hard cast that'll fall off itself when the skin below releases.

Congrats! - your production crew has figured out how to layer good background audio into the show (under the voices) without burying the quality of the primary voices. Very few shows are able to accomplish this. Oh yea, this was an interesting subject made even more interesting because the voices were intelligible. Great job and thank you. EDIT: I forgot to mention how much I enjoy this channel. We need more entertaining and enjoyable info like this in the world and a lot less of the depressing/fake media we get force-fed constantly.

Because of your casual and inaccurate comment, I just watched this entire tedious video over again, and I was right the first time. As far as epoxy resin glues are conserned, I stuck stone together using professional quality epoxy 40 years ago. The stone is outside weathering perfectly. So I tried a supermarket epoxy special marble. It didn't last a year.

The only glue I've found that works on EVERY material except polyethylene and polypropylene is called E-6000 (brand name,) a high-grade polyurethane adhesive. (I CAN use it on polypropylene if I roughen the surface.) I go through one tube every few months. I don't know if there are other brand equivalents.

Take a piece of acryilc and melt it with the proper solvent and you have super glue , same thing with lexan .

Thanks for the interesting topics covered in the program and the journey down into the Blue John Caves and the fluorite mineral. Also the section on paint and Titanium dioxide. I work with the mineral calcium carbonate most days in my work as a lime plasterer and was taught that the faster something dries the more brittle it becomes whereas the slower it dries the harder it becomes and the lime mortars dry back to being a rock again, unlike a cement, lime allows water vapour through which is why lime putty mortars are preferred for old ancient buildings and homes, they are softer than cement. Cement dries very rapidly and if used in an old building it will break up soft rock and clay bricks making them crack and split up. Lime mortar will dry back to rock which takes many years if done properly and no nearby vibrations like heavy traffic. Casein is also added to lime paint to make lime paint more durable and hard. The capital W in Wow is reserved for the fluorite green gas that was so reactive it was kept it in 2 containers.

There are exceptions to everything. Even super glue and epoxy glues won't work well on polyethylene. Teflon coatings mainly stick to pans in a mechanical way, as the coatings themselves don't stick all that well to metal without having having the surface been made rough in some manner first. In paints, zinc oxide costs more but had certain advantages over titanium oxide like in UVA resistance and corrosion resistance. Titanium dioxide gives better opacity at lower cost though.

Telfon coatings are done in multiple layers. There's an etch/primer layer with a small teflon content bonded to the metal, which the final teflon coat is able to bond to.

PTFE is stuck mechanically to the surface. The surface is bead blasted then a light coat of Teflon (PTFE) seeps into the small cavities in the metal and is dried. Then another few coats of Teflon is added as the only thing to stick to Teflon is more Teflon.

PTFE is Teflon. Roy J. Plunkett (June 26, 1910 - May 12, 1994) was an American Dupont chemist. He discovered polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), better known as Teflon, in 1938. The same reason melted wax sticks to Glass. PTFE is a wax and it is melted onto the surface of the pan at around 425°F.

What you should be thinking about is getting rid of that nonstick pan. Actually PFOA's are in so many things that it doesn't really make a difference by getting rid of that old pan. Teflon is harmful to both your health and the environment. PFOA's contain C8 and according to a large body of research, C8 disrupts normal hormone function and lowers T levels in men. It has also been linked to various cancers and birth defects. The use if it is so wide spread that every human over the age of two has it in their body. Once there it can't be removed.

But this video was about getting things to stick and not stick , so the obvious mystery to solve is: if PTFE (Teflon) is so non stick, how do they get the PTFE to stick to the pan?

Often not very well. Once you scratch through the Teflon and to bare alu in one spot, it might just lift up the rest of the Teflon sheet. So it doesn't as much stick to the pan as just hugs it tightly. Still there's a few ways they try to improve adhesion. One is etching the aluminium surface with lye so it's porous, letting applied layers bite into it. Other is that there are several layers and the one touching the metal directly isn't exactly PTFE. It might be PTFE that was previously pre-degraded by intense heat or plasma to break some molecular bonds and make it sticky, but it's still sufficiently similar to Teflon that the rest of PTFE sticks to it. Or it might be a mixture of PTFE and a different polymer entirely, so the two types of molecules are intertwined into each other, but the next layer of PTFE still sticks to the PTFE molecules.

I'd sure like to see the aggregate medical records of the people who work in those "wonderstuff" factories. I expect (I'd be shocked if it weren't true) that the rates of cancer, auto-immune conditions, and metabolic disorders including diabetes would be higher in these employees than farmers, welders, sanitation workers, and coatings applicators. Fabric softener alone must have its own bubble in our statistical past.
