They say old is Gold. Nostalgia is said to be a sign of old age. I am feeling Nostalgic and after listening to these songs I find my mood elevated and I feel young.

all the 1950 songs will can be never forget specially of Rafiji , Lataji and of course Geeta ji. What a beautiful song "Aai Dil Mujhe Bata de " by Geetaji . Never can be compared with today's songs. For this particular reason today's songs are Cassette and old songs are Assets.

This song takes me back to the mid fifties. My late and good friend Nasir tuan from Matale, Sri Lanka used to sing this song, beating time on an empty Kiwi shoe polish tin between his knees. What wonderful memories. Love the song forever. geeta Dutt voice was so sultry.

I often wonder : how come these 60-year old songs are so fresh and still hummed, sung & appreciated and often "re-mixed", as opposed to most of to-day's Bollywood songs which are forgotten within a few minutes? Surely because these "old" songs are genuine artistic creations composed by poets and put together by master singers and musicians.

Decades ago, there used to be a show on public radio that featured this type of music. The hosts were naturally from India. It's only an observation, but all female and male singers sound the same. Having said that, I like it. Don't understand a word, but music can be appreciated without knowing the language.
