The thing with Heechul is actually sad. In 2006, just one year after their debut, he was involved in a car accident on his way back to Seoul after attending Donghae’s father's funeral. He fractured his left leg in 5 places and had metal rods in that leg for a few years (I think the last ones were removed in 2008). Even now he still suffers from pain and can’t dance a lot. Because of that he's inactive in live performances, and even if he's performing with the members, he just jumps in for his part and returns backstage, or if his part is near the end of the song and the choreo is not hard for him - he stays on the stage with them. He opened up about that situation in 2017, when he said on a TV show that he wanted to left the group since he can't even perform with them, he's no help to them and just makes everything harder, but the other members were begging him not to. They said that they have no problem with adjusting to him and it's okay even if he can be with them for a few seconds on stage (😭). So he's doing all sorts of activities in many many variety shows to promote SuJu as much as he can. He wants to help the members in some way 💔
I was hoping you would also write about the other members that got injured (although I know she asked about Heechul). I'm not a Suju stan so I don't know too much. I just thought I'd add the part I do know. Which is that Kyuhyun was badly injured and they were about to do an operation to save his life that would have caused severe damage to his vocal cords or something. So his father, knowing it would end his singing career and what singing meant to his son talked to several specialists to find a way to save him and have him continue being a singer. I just thought I should add this bit.
Poor baby. Although he should know that the other members wouldn't let him leave. They have with people being absent (I don't want to say "leaving" since they haven't left, as far as I know...which isn't much). I am pretty sure any Kpop group would move heaven and Earth to keep their group as whole as possible. But I can also understand how frustrating it must be for Heechul too. But he is much more to the group than his ability to dance.
@@EXO-L-ls8qj unfortunately I've seen cases were members who were injured left the group to "focus on their health", but these were smaller, not that well known groups (at least at the point when the member left), like The Boyz (my bias left 😔), D-CRUNCH and Golden Child. Because they couldn't perform due to various injuries, some idols left their groups (but in my opinion it's hard to tell if that was their decision or if someone in the company decided they don't want them anymore..). Even Tao from EXO left (among many reasons) because he suffered from many injuries and couldn't perform with the boys without hurting himself even more. I'm just glad Heechul stayed, recovered as much as he could and is still an active member.

I just watch all your SJ reactions and I loved them! I understand all your excitement that you can call Yesung oppa (I can’t call any of them like that) and it was so funny to see you fangirling and trying to learn who is who (that happened to me a little longer than a year ago that I first listened to them). Even before then he is usually only in the third verse of the songs because he can't dance the length of the full song with them. He gives his best to the group in variety but its heartbreaking because he feels like he isn't helping out/being one of the team enough no matter how we and the members keep assuring him that its not the case. He has been really happy about promoting with the members on his bubble for the last couple of months though and he really gets brighther/happier with his members around so its really nice to see.

You will get to know them better here. There are a lot of clips. They're funny, crazy, but then, there are instances when you'll cry with and for them.
Lol with all these different artist I’m looking into I haven’t yet. I’m still in the pretty early phases for so many of my groups but once in through their songs I’ll be able to dive deeper into the variety parts, for SuJu too!

This is a re-recording of a song on their 2nd(?) album. And super junior is one of the very very few bands that stayed with the "vocal harmonies during chorus" kind of thing. Nowadays one by one member sings even chorus but super junior had strong harmonization! The only bands who might be better are mamamoo and tvxq (
You can count on SM groups for 2 things. Amazing vocals, and complicated group dynamics/pasts. Pretty much all the old groups through about EXO. The groups after haven't had the loss and just "bad stuff" happen to them. Well, Red Velvet has now, with Wendy's accident. There is not one single group at SM that has stayed the same size they started as. Not a single one. All of the groups up through EXO have either left the company, or lost members. Red Velvet and NCT have actually gained members since debuting. And I suspect Aespa will also gain members. SuJu's journey has been especially bumpy. They have been through so much as a group, and I think it is why they are still together, and stronger than ever. Same for all SM groups.
