It's hard to believe that in another era, these songs were the trend, because it's too different nowadays. I'd say that SuJu started a few trends during their prime. Producers saw the advantage of having many members in a boy band, especially for dance songs, yet they were frowned upon when they debuted. The group also made monochromatic MVs, autotune, and hook songs work. There's a reason why Sorry, Sorry; Mr. Simple; Bonamana; Sexy, Free and Single; Spy; and A-Cha are similar sounding. Many other groups followed suit. But the GP eventually got tired of the style. I think it was during Mamacita that they took a different approach to their songs. They became more experimental with genres, and showcased their vocals better, hence they strayed away from robotic sounds.

You rewatching donghae's scream for 4-5 times is such a mood 😂😂 exactly what i did when i first saw bonamana's rock ver.

You know why they shoot on the same studio? or same place?? because the management didnt give them big budget on their mvs, they even have just 1 make up artist and 1 stylist. Sm just let them debut but doesnt give a damn about suju. Suju even tagged by many as trash idols of SM. But look at them now. i am so proud of my babies💙💙💙💙

I think that era was when Kyuhyun trying to be one of the main dancers. Bonamana rock version in 1 of their concerts is the best one.

In Smtown 2017, Heechul was in charge of the Bonamana scream. Donghae, Siwon, Eunhyuk, Ryeowook and Kyuhyun were entlisted. That was a very sad performance, with only 4 members. Even Yesung cried during that stage. Donghae, using his last vacation, and Kyuhyun, were at the backstage to support their members.

Also same, Donghae's screaming at the beginning of Bonamana rock version is my fav part of the song. He always scream the place where they were performing and honestly, he's so hot screaming like that lol

I became an elf in this era.... Bonamana era... But at first, when my online friends suggested me Bonamana I felt like it's not my type, too... But Boom boom & No other suits me better.... Honestly thought, that attracted me to them in the beginning are their variety shows (EHB, Adonis camp, intimate notes) their characters, their personalities that made me adore them so much, and their music, their songs sealed the deal (?) 😄💙💙💙

SuJu set and follow certain trends especially during the times when they don't have their own labe yet (though most of the time they like creating craft that makes use of everyone's talent which are a lot rather than following the formula of boy groups to a T). We suffered years and years seing almost all SJ mvs were filmed in box and just them dancing, they didn't get out from these boring sets only 'recently' when sj prepared for their own album without telling SM and just surprising them by the comeback and than they created their own label and like that we finally said bye to all SM box and same rhythm songs for our SJ

SJ is best in a live performance. The way they hype the crowd. Sj's energy is over the roof. Plus the fact that they don't have nay inhibition on stage makes their live stage memorable

While you are right that Kyu favors traditional ballad the most, he is actually very versatile. I highly recommend his "Masquerade" performance on Immortal Song 2 for a rock style, and his rap for Seven Knights 2 promotion for RapKyu, lol. He also practiced super hard to be in that dance line because he really wanted it. If you haven't got it on your list yet, I don't think you have reacted to their debut song "Twins (Knockout)" which was before Kyuhyun joined, and "Don't Don" their 2nd full album comeback, in which the MV is the only one with 14 members. The 13 main members and Henry, who plays the violin solo. Though he technically wasn't a member yet at this time either.

I see you also love Donghae's scream as well. When I first heard it it shocked me because I'd mostly seen him be quiet on variety shows. Then I got to see more and realizes that he probably screams more than most of the members. And usually for no real reason. lol It all depends on if he's comfortable or not. Among all their more autotune hook song-era, I like Bonamana concert version the most. Tho ppl really ditch on autotune a bit too much, even though in some cases, it is really artistic choice to use autotune to make the song sound a certain way and have specific vibe. To say that just because you use autotune you are a bad singer is too lazy of an assumption.

Sure the scream is nice and all but sweaty exhausted Yesung looking up for a split second around 18:32 though. There's something about soft looking guys making that face, it just hits different
